Yep, I am tired of all the grey homes, gray tiles, gray furniture…

  2. Monica Winter on April 11, 2023 at 10:34 am

What color are you painting that wood paneling at the 2:51 mark?

  3. Beau Fryer on April 11, 2023 at 10:35 am

If you have shutters and you rip them out for Roman blinds you need help.

  4. michelle edwards on April 11, 2023 at 10:35 am

So in another 5 years all that’s new here is going to be dated until we come back around again. People keep all your old stuff or you might be buying them again I swear there’s another site that disagrees. So much confusion who to follow…. think I’ll follow my own mind otherwise my home’s going to resemble everyone else.

  5. Eleana Robinson on April 11, 2023 at 10:36 am

Can you do a video on modern pop art inferior design?

  6. Quik Susan on April 11, 2023 at 10:36 am

Love your style, it’s light and practical.

  7. Santa Abolina on April 11, 2023 at 10:37 am

You crazy monsters painting wooden details with that ugly white color. In my country that kind of things are the cheapest crappiest stuff. Don’t know anyone who wants something like that, usually people just buy such because it’s the cheapest and they can’t afford anything better. Here if we want wood lighter we polish it and cover with some coating without color. It always made my heart hurt seeing someone covering natural wood with a thick paint uhhh.

  8. Kris S on April 11, 2023 at 10:37 am

Who in the world can afford to update their home every time a trend ends and new one happens? Great tips but when it comes to flooring, etc. it’s just not realistic to keep updating your home to stay on trend

  9. Kristen McGowan on April 11, 2023 at 10:38 am

HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE! This video is for anyone planning a home renovation or planning to sell their home! I’m going over all the things you should consider updating to make the biggest difference in your home! Of course every house is not the same, so these ideas may not always apply to your space, but just giving general design guidance to consider before renovating!

Sorry sugar, I know you are trying to promote product but Plantation Shutters will be in style in 100 years (just like the past 200 years) 🤷🏼‍♀️

  11. Teresa Daigle on April 11, 2023 at 10:39 am

NO Way! I love my shutters….I had colonial shutters in my New England Colonial home and they were perfect. Sometimes you need to just go with the Traditional looks. I now have shutters in my Co. home and they are also beautiful. I can close off the top half of the shutter if sun is to hot but still see through the bottom shutters, or visa versa. In my opinion, they are classy and will never go out of style in any home.

  12. Jessica on April 11, 2023 at 10:40 am

I’m shocked at your plantations shutter opinion. In California that’s considered an upgrade and a highly desired item.

WINDOW BLINDS: fantastic for home cooling & airflow
    Duh

  14. Debra Cygan on April 11, 2023 at 10:44 am

I disagree about shutters. They are fresh and easy to clean compared to most blinds or shades.

  15. Melina Balboni on April 11, 2023 at 10:44 am

I love your concise advice and the fact that I can learn so much in just 10 minutes….no fluff, no exaggerated techniques. Thanks for this video. I do agree with you on the grey color scheme. I personally love a little warmth.

  16. Claire Goetz on April 11, 2023 at 10:45 am

Besides switching the floor out to blonde wood what is another option you would change in a gray/cool kitchen?

  17. Abbygail Sill on April 11, 2023 at 10:46 am

If you have cats, do yourself a favor and keep your shutters and don’t install a freestanding tub. Lol. Take it from someone who has learned those lessons the hard way.

  18. Jedi Lego Arts on April 11, 2023 at 10:46 am

    Sorry, love those shutters…

  19. Joyce Gonzales on April 11, 2023 at 10:47 am

I sure wouldn’t spend a fortune to replace my floors, but I might put a large rug down.

  20. Graciela Garcia on April 11, 2023 at 10:50 am

    Very helpful ❤ love it

  21. Pat Rutledge on April 11, 2023 at 10:51 am

    No contest…shutters stay!

  22. Tales from Debbie-land on April 11, 2023 at 10:51 am

I think that if a person is actually RENOVATING, these ideas are maybe things to keep in mind. But most of these are not feasible options (budget wise) for many people who are just trying to do little, or inexpensive things to update their home. I think no matter your ‘style’, your home should reflect YOU and your lifestyle.

  23. Sheila Bailey on April 11, 2023 at 10:52 am

    Thank you !!

  24. Christina B on April 11, 2023 at 10:54 am

dang, this is the first video I’ve watched from your channel and the first suggestion I hear is CHANGE THE COLOR OF YOUR FLOORS?? that is one of the most costly, labor intensive, life-disrupting remodels you can inflict on a homeowner. You basically have to empty your house to completely change flooring. Never, ever never select trendy flooring. The pale blonde maple thing will be old in 10yrs as well

  25. Brad C on April 11, 2023 at 10:57 am

    Shutters are classic.

  26. Tuesday& Charlie on April 11, 2023 at 10:58 am

I enjoy seeing all this through your eyes. Kind of amazing what a long string of objections you received on the shutters! I can definitely see value in varying shutters to update them, rather than discarding, and I know I personally would appreciate seeing creativity put toward that.

Another topic: I’ve scoured various resources for decorating for high ceilings and I have just not seen anything that I feel captures the perfect comfortable feeling for a high ceiling space. What I love about high ceilings is the free feeling of spaciousness, but, the challenge I find is creating homey coziness to exist within that spacious expanse. Even if it’s meant to be "elegant" and "statement" and "wow," I wonder how to pull that off and still feel like "ahhh…home."

If you already have a video on decorating for high ceilings, I haven’t stumbled on it yet. Would love to consider more options for this challenge.

  27. BuenaPetite on April 11, 2023 at 10:59 am

I have 2 of these dated design trends. The gray flooring and the shutters. Brand new two years ago. Lol. I should have picked white oak. But I’m not going to be changing anything. Like any trends that go out of style, you’ll see them again in the future.

  28. Lena T on April 11, 2023 at 11:03 am

California shutters…it’s my dream! Can’t afford.

  29. Idk on April 11, 2023 at 11:03 am

  30. Jedi Lego Arts on April 11, 2023 at 11:04 am

Wow, I’m on trend! Although I did it ten years ago…who knew! Heh heh heh

  31. Sharon Clifford on April 11, 2023 at 11:05 am

One can never keep up with “Fads”. Purchasing quality products which one loves in my humble opinion stops the desire to constantly change.

  32. Edana ni Emer on April 11, 2023 at 11:06 am

Honestly I disagree with the whole concept of ‘dated’. An interior looks good, or it doesn’t. Whether the ‘#aesthetic’ is sourced from the last two years isn’t all that relevant.

Then again I’m the kind of person who wants the inside of my house to look like a fantasy castle, and most of our art is Nene Thomas, knights in armor, and my crafting stuff. So really it’s up to you.

Just remember that almost everything comes back around to being in style again *eventually*. Unless it’s ugly.

  33. Rhoda Lauro on April 11, 2023 at 11:07 am

Yay! I’m so sick of chevron though I don’t have it in my home. Love your ideas.

  34. Lisa Latier on April 11, 2023 at 11:08 am

I love your tips! The “after” pics are always right on point.

  35. Irena Fields on April 11, 2023 at 11:08 am

Is there a trend about having a home the way you the owner, feel comfortable with? Too many trends that change so often. ✌️

  36. Catherine3385 on April 11, 2023 at 11:10 am

I do not have plantation shutters in my home, but feel they are timeless.
I think everything else is spot on

  37. Winniejack on April 11, 2023 at 11:10 am

Trends will cost you money. Stick with classics and simple patterns and you will be ok.

  38. jonny stam on April 11, 2023 at 11:12 am

she talks a lot about Ikea do they give her something to do so, also she says that white gloss is out im not too sure neither with the greys how long the boho style will stay ?

  39. Dawna on April 11, 2023 at 11:13 am

i miss the warm, unique, colorful, interesting homes of the 70s…..i never follow trends…..that is for sheep ….love listening to your thoughts, however!

  40. TheKickshaws on April 11, 2023 at 11:20 am

I honestly have to wonder though: How long before these trendy updates become outdated?

  41. Amanda Mattsson on April 11, 2023 at 11:20 am

    Wow, thanks 🙏

  42. Coastal Diva on April 11, 2023 at 11:22 am

  44. Carissa Baker on April 11, 2023 at 11:24 am

Yeah, no. Love my plantation shutters!

  45. SJP on April 11, 2023 at 11:25 am

We lived with Gray LVT floors for the last 5 years (new build and builder chose the floors). While they were quality LVT and it was fun to try something trendy for a short while, I’m sooooooooooooooo happy to be done with gray floors. We moved into a home with wide-plank pine that we refinished with clear stain. It makes decorating easier because the space already has warmth and coziness built in.

  46. Jaya Dama on April 11, 2023 at 11:25 am

    How designing in our dating?

  47. Sara Byrd on April 11, 2023 at 11:27 am

I disagree with getting rid of the shutters, these are still so nice and they’re also such a nice option if you have kids/dogs. No chords to choke on and not flimsy, so no breaking. They’re classic and add a lot of resale value too, I think they’re classic and you can add curtains above if you’d like to add some more texture!

  48. Rod Sims on April 11, 2023 at 11:28 am

How do you feel about an accent wall? I’m thinking of painting one wall burgundy, while the other walls are white, as is the ceiling.

  49. sgtron116 on April 11, 2023 at 11:29 am

I am in the process now of painting the paneling in my basement to a medium gray and it has made such a difference.

  50. Aesthetic Nerd on April 11, 2023 at 11:29 am

She literally said that modern contemporary colors are dated are you high? Grey, Black, white, earth tones are all time less colors
