Looking for something with good miles per gallon

Before you step into any dealership, do yourself a favor and take out an RV consumer group membership and pour through their ratings, You will be stunned. I am looking for my next RV and my initial “pour through” of different manufacurers was shocking. That investment really opened my eyes. Salesman are the enemy and you need to go in fully prepared to walk in with both eyes WIDE OPEN. Understand human behavior – you will walk into these rigs starry eyed (especially if you are a first time buyer) and the waltz will begin as the sales people are skilled tacticians / negotiators. What looks mesmerizing at the surface is quite different from the actual construction where all the componentry hangs. Construction quality in many of these rigs is in some cases just short of non-existant.

Thanks for your video. We’ve had our 2021 Coachmen Beyond 22C Li3 AWD for 6 months now and agree with you that the quality of this vehicle is outstanding. I will add another lesson to your list for new buyers — consider hiring a good certified RV inspector BEFORE taking delivery of your new RV. It is expensive, but worth every penny. When the dealer is given a long list of everything to prep for the inspection — trust me they do it if they want to get paid and close the deal. MJ

Hi, I live in Quebec near the state of Vermont. Can you tell me the name of your coachmen dealership in Vermont.
    Thank you

The advice about vehicle height and bridges is excellent! I think some of the Garmin or other brands of mapping devices have versions specific for commercial vehicles thus, contains bridges’ height info.

I decided to take on van life in 2019. Am closing this chapter of my life in Hawai’i now. I’ve never seen the east coast of the US. Excited to start but scared. I’m doing it on my own. So happy all these videos exist to help prep. Wish me luck. Fulfilling my mom’s dream (rip), now, my own.

Y’all really travel with that dog in the container? 😅

  11. Jon on September 17, 2022 at 5:26 am

Thanks for the fun video! We just bought the 22RB version of the same van, so your advice is really timely. Just a question for you–how was the RV to park in general driving around town? I don’t have any plans to parallel park (have enough trouble parallel parking my car!) but wondered how your experience has been. Thanks again!

The best quality is G R E C H Class B, superior fit and finish inside and out. Pricey but well worthy. 🙂
I bought "Strada – ION" all battery and its amazing. So much less hassle without a generator worry about.

  15. John Davids on September 17, 2022 at 5:32 am

Everyone I know that buys a class B from the big mass producers complains about defects and compromises. For the same money you can have an upfitter custom build you a Class B that will give you less trouble and more effectively exceed your expectations.

In ny state Rv are not allowed on any parkway. Use a truck app for direction.

Can you give me information on the 4 pack of towels I saw? Looks like a great space saver!

  18. barney61ful on September 17, 2022 at 5:38 am

Nice tips, I would add re. fuses if you have a wonderful FanTastic ceiling fan you will have to order a special size fuse. Also traveling with pets is a special thing we LOVE our dog. He likes our Class B! He travels ONLY in a soft sided secured (tied down) crate. He goes in thru zippered doors while we walk around, BUT sleeps in our bed. While at camp outside he has a fold out flat cot to stay off the ground or on a mat.
I would recommend a power surge electrical management system to pre-check and shut down the electrical connection if it gets a reading outside the safe parameters. Frying your units wiring due to various reasons can be an $$$$ repair issue. Some campgrounds expand and have insufficient elec. systems. Everyone knows how maxed out RV campsites are, so have reservations or another plan.
    Have fun!!!

Your advertising on the van is really ugly and overdone.

  22. naturalandproud63 on September 17, 2022 at 5:44 am

We had the same problem- the walk-through guy was clueless. ugh! U should be into politics. Democracy requires informed and engaged citizens. pay attention and Vote!

  23. Brian Mello on September 17, 2022 at 5:45 am

Most RV’ s are rushed through production and the dealers don’t test them. You are on your own. So….

  24. Ron on September 17, 2022 at 5:48 am

To bad you crapped up a nice looking van with the tacky placards…🤮🤮

  25. Greg Bousquet on September 17, 2022 at 5:50 am

Thanks for all the wonderful tips.

  26. Jeffrey Jimenez on September 17, 2022 at 5:50 am

Why did you stay in hotels when you have an RV? Isn’t that supposed to be The Full Experience?

  27. Nine Iron on September 17, 2022 at 5:52 am

    Awesome video!!

  28. Jerry Lewis on September 17, 2022 at 5:57 am

What did I learn from this video? The tquality of RV made in the USA is terrible and horrible compared with made in Germany and other European countries…..

  29. Peggy Conway on September 17, 2022 at 5:58 am

    Market basket bag!!!! ❤️

  30. Jim Gonyea on September 17, 2022 at 5:59 am

Way too many stickers on that van! 😂

  31. sccphilly on September 17, 2022 at 5:59 am

Why didn’t you get the li3? Is your generator the quiet one? Can the generator run all night in Florida heat for ac?

Loved your video. We lived in Vermont for over 10 years and now live in Connecticut. We spend January and February in Florida, so your travels were quite interesting for me. I look forward to watching more of your videos, but seriously, as someone who has driven the Merritt for years, there are signs everywhere posting no trucks allowed. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Glad you’re all safe. 😉

Is the bed comfortable and firm enough for a good night sleep?
