As someone who kept moving everything around for years in my entire flat before finding a configuration that felt right, i say: don’t hesitate to put your shelves, sofa(s), tables, rugs, plants… in weird places. It won’t work most of the time, but for all the times it will you might stumble on something that fits you perfectly and sets the tone of a room. (And then you’ll find a new armchair and have to move it all again; that’s the game ;b )

I struggled finding a small sofa with legs that transformed into a bed so now I have a convertible sofa that’s too big and very low to the floor but at least it’s multifunctional 😅

Hello about the wall colors. I’m planning to put on the left side of my room a landscape black and white forest wallpaper about 5m length and 2m height and on the opposite side is a large wall mirror. Does that mean it will narrow the room?

  21. leia on January 4, 2023 at 3:25 am

I live in a very small condo. Not a fan of white walls. Too stark. I have a lovely palette of pale pastels. They are calming and soothing and happy. The quality of natural light is an important consideration: what direction is your window facing?

  25. oshi990 on January 4, 2023 at 3:27 am

Noticed that many contemporary interior designers use predominantly white colors. Without warm-coloured furnishings, I’ve always found such an aesthetic clinical and soulless, like a hospital. Would far prefer pastels instead. This video has some other great tips, though.

  29. Spy Master on January 4, 2023 at 3:34 am

I actually practice that something new comes in something old goes out . That stops the clutter from getting a big mess. Plus it stops me from becoming a hoarder.

  33. DeadDancers on January 4, 2023 at 3:37 am

I live in a small space, no kids, and storage is something I have come to deeply question. With the exception of seasonal necessities like winter coats and blankets (and decorations), I think any possession which needs to be ‘stored’ should be questioned as to its value. How often is it used? Is it wasting space ‘being stored’ that could be utilised for something else?

  34. Liz McZeno on January 4, 2023 at 3:39 am

  49. George Withmore on January 4, 2023 at 3:56 am

…I’m one of those who thinks that minimalism has several levels that go from basic minimalism to the extreme, in which it’s all about simplifying even the most recondite square centimeter. Using multifunctional furniture is a way to simplify everything, because in many cases you don’t need to have three pieces of furniture but one or two (for example, sleeping on a sofa bed that you can use during the day as a seat and during the day as a bed, and so on). I’m not a big fan of multifunctional furniture but I recognize the high utility that they can mean. My current sofa is a Togo sofa from Manhattan Home Design, and although it isn’t as multifunctional as other models, it still seems quite minimalist to me. Thanks for all these tips!

I live in a small apartment and I selected a wallpaper that was just a bit darker than the white ceiling, that made the room look a bit taller, I also left a thin white line between the ceiling and the wallpaper, that made the corners to look a bit softer, so at 4:38 I miss the darker walls with a ‘white’ line at the top to raise and expand the ceiling.
Great tips btw, and good video.
