Very nice Shannon! Small improvements make all the difference.

  2. Hilshere1 on November 5, 2022 at 5:27 am

Great job! I totally agree with you on waiting. I’ve lived in my 1950s house for nearly 2 years. You absolutely must live in it fora at least a year before you do renos. I too have had to do a budget friendly makeover on my kitchen to make it more functional until It eventually will be gutted but that’s at least a few years down the road. For now, at least it is functional and works for us.

New here 😊 and all I will say is WOW your kitchen is one of the nicest kitchen’s I have seen here on YouTube. I think it is gorgeous, unique and so not cookie cutter like many on here. It is great to see something with a personality, I just love it.😍

  11. My Haunted Life on November 5, 2022 at 5:42 am

My kitchen cabinets have the same hardware. I have not only knotty pine cabinets, but also my wainscoting in the kitchen and dining area. I hate to cover it it, but I can’t imagine refinishing everything. I also have the scallops over the sink. They were in the dining area and I yanked them.😂 I’ve been here 20 yrs and it’s time for a change.🙄 I really want to go with the 50’s style. My kitchen is a HUGE space. It’s basically a big square room in which they put a kitchen. Would love to add more cabinets, but…. Anyway, thanks for the ideas. I’ve got hardwood under layers of linoleum. Uuughhh. Gonna check out your husband’s channel now. Thanks again!🙏

Hey Shannon! I LOVE how your kitchen turned out! I love the mint green tile honestly! It looks so clean and cozy now with all the bright white and mint green! Thanks for sharing!😊💗✨

  14. Jackie of All Trades on November 5, 2022 at 5:44 am

100% Agree that this fix totally elevated your space. It’s a blessing to have handy fixers in the family that can patch things in a pinch. Thanks for mentioning REAL LIFE, and how you have to fit in the work where you can. Not like a TV show where it all gets knocked out in a weekend. Slow and steady wins the race! I love the work you did with the design, paint and decorations and how your husband and kids pitched in as well, especially the flooring footage (adorable). Definitely this was a family affair and the results were so worth it. Thanks so much for sharing.

  15. Leanne R on November 5, 2022 at 5:44 am

I love the white and green. The same colours as my kitchen.

  16. Becky Hp on November 5, 2022 at 5:44 am

I love it. I wouldn’t replace the cabinets

  17. gabrielpaulsmom on November 5, 2022 at 5:46 am

That is literally my kitchen except I have brown speckled countertop.

  18. Christina on November 5, 2022 at 5:46 am

Love the idea of moving the fridge! It really changes the space!

  19. GrandmaSewHappy Homestead on November 5, 2022 at 5:47 am

So cute how it turned out

  20. Barbara Hvilivitzky on November 5, 2022 at 5:50 am

This was great! My kitchen is not functional at all – sink on one side and a long way on the other side is the stove – with no counter space near stove – so I get my exercise going from one side to the other. However, that said, I do try to set up for success by zoning the spaces for what they are for with not stressing out over the dream kitchen I would like! I will never be able to afford a kitchen make-over so have to learn to love the one I have!!!

  21. a anon on November 5, 2022 at 5:51 am

looks fabulous. i would have to cover that damaged tile next to the stove either w/ a quick fix-large cutting board or some peel & stick tiles.

  22. MessyMoneyMama on November 5, 2022 at 5:51 am

Would Grant be able to do all the cabinetry himself for the big renovation? That would make a big money difference but I love your retro kitchen as is too!

  23. SHIRYON on November 5, 2022 at 5:53 am

It looks great and you ended up with a pretty and very functional kitchen that will serve you well for years. Grant is very talented….you guys are a great team.

  24. TheBombshellBabydoll on November 5, 2022 at 5:53 am

Thr decorative hood cover is so cute…. it kinda took away from the retro. 🙁

  25. TheBombshellBabydoll on November 5, 2022 at 5:54 am

I feel like it would really add to the vibe with a checkered floor

  26. Lelia M. Cleveland on November 5, 2022 at 5:55 am

Great idea! Great job, you guys!

  27. J Bellbird on November 5, 2022 at 6:01 am

  30. Amanda Swilley on November 5, 2022 at 6:03 am

Your kitchen is so adorable. The original details, such as the mint back splash and the cabinet hardware, give it a charm that you can not find in modern kitchens. You’ve done a great job of making it functional yet keeping the original charm.

  31. AllThingsShannon x on November 5, 2022 at 6:04 am

I absolutely love this kitchen! That beautiful tile! 😍 Beautiful!

  38. Luz King on November 5, 2022 at 6:16 am

Love your kitchen. My house is from the 1940’s. The linoleum was lifting up. I cut part of it. Turned out it was like 3-4 layers. So I just would put kitchen rugs. Until we could afford to redo the kitchen as well. 10 years later. :).
    Did it ourselves. Takes time.

You are a good designer, with lots of talents.
