Great ideas. BTW, the word is com-POS-ite.(accent on second syllable).

Hey Nick, I’m loving your channel and all your great advice. I would love to see a design styles video focused on kitchens!

As far as sinks… there are a few other trends
    Single vs double basin
    Deeper vs shallower
A grid at the bottom to lift items for better drainage
Accessories nesting into the top of the sink

If you are Dead Set on Black Finishes on your sinks, Make Sure You Do Not have hard water! And, if you do… Get that Culligan Guy in to Fix it!!😉 Anything "OPEN" when it comes to a kitchen, & someone who actually Cooks in their kitchen, Means Kitchen Grease & Smells…. If you’re not OCD Do Not go with Open Shelving!! The More detailing in your wood work also means more intricate nooks & crannies to clean. Moral of the Story… It might be trendy this year… but, tiled countertops, popcorn ceilings & carpet in the bathroom was once trendy too!😉

Open shelving is a dumb trend unless you have a huge kitchen

  6. Ioana S on May 15, 2023 at 10:16 am

    you move a lot😅

  7. Anna C on May 15, 2023 at 10:17 am

I live in earthquake country. Open shelving just seems like such a risk.

  8. Yvonne Smith on May 15, 2023 at 10:20 am

Thanks for all the humor! Love it!

  9. Michelle P on May 15, 2023 at 10:21 am

What are the advantages and disadvantages of doing butcher block countertops?

  10. Kristina T on May 15, 2023 at 10:21 am

Our kitchen has a sloped ceiling with a super short height on one end, 6’8" to be exact.
We opted for open shelving on that side because closed cabinets that can only be 15" tall on an already short wall would feel stifling.

LOVE how fast you talk and the amount of information you deliver. You can be proud of your generosity. Thank you!

I like that your presentation is so organized and that you show several examples of each point you make. So many decor videos are just boring and yours is not!

  13. Rachel Ke on May 15, 2023 at 10:24 am

Never ever go for a black sink if you have really limy water. It’s so hard to keep black, even if you wipe it down every time

  14. Eric Scavetta on May 15, 2023 at 10:26 am

I love your videos. Just stumbled onto them.

My adds for kitchens trends that I’ve noticed recently are:
    – hardware-less cabinet fronts with self-edged finger pull recesses that track horizontally across all the doors/drawers
    – Deep drawers in lieu of doors with an adjustable shelf.
    – Horizontal grain-matched solid wood doors in mid-tones like bleached walnut (for those who afford custom cabinetry). It seems to work well with Mid-Century, Scandinavian & Japanese-Modern.

I want open shelving now for my cookbooks!

  16. dee roe on May 15, 2023 at 10:26 am

Thanks for the tip on matte black faucets. It took me forever to find someone who knew if they will stay in trend for awhile.

  17. Mariah Walker on May 15, 2023 at 10:28 am

I know this video is a bit old now but I’d love to see a review of composite sinks!

  18. Tiffany Oz on May 15, 2023 at 10:30 am

We were given the perfect sized granite for our current countertops but we are putting in an island. I suggested to my husband that we use butcher block on the island so we can still use the granite we have waiting without having to search for something that matches well enough. He would prefer stone but is okay with the butcher block. Do you know if there are any downsides I should consider?

    Hi
In your section "🛋 Items In My Living Room Background" the "➤ Media Console" has the same link as the "➤ Marble Coffee Table". I looked at another video and the same duplicated link.
Do you have the link for the Media Console?
    Thanks

Nick, I just discovered you yesterday, January 17, 2021. I am so glad I did. I watched so many of your videos in a row. I am so interested in what you are talking about. I appreciate your advice.

  21. Nathan Wheeler on May 15, 2023 at 10:32 am

Love your videos, Nick! My thing about the matte kitchen sink, and totally subjective here, but having worked as a butcher for five years I am not blowing smoker, I need my kitchen sink to be immaculate. This can’t be accomplished without stainless steel that allows for full visibility while cleaning. Just a thought, but also based on five years working as a butcher. I like to prioritize utility in my utility spaces.

SO SICK OF STAINLESS in the Kitchen

  23. Sandy's DIY Health Advocacy on May 15, 2023 at 10:33 am

Another consideration regarding open shelving. It’s all great until you fry something on the stove and the grease splatters Everywhere. You don’t notice until you take a coffee cup out the next day, and guess what you find. No thanks. I love the look when it’s done right, but I would hate having this

Bummer. Just got kitchen delivered. Went with non full height mizzle colour cabinets as i thought it would look too much like a big bank of doors. Maybe i could paint wall above same colour as doors or just leave white.

  27. Safaa on May 15, 2023 at 10:38 am

I love panneled apliences! I feel like this is more european, americans just love their stainless steel everywhere xD

  28. Safaa on May 15, 2023 at 10:39 am

Please a do a review about the composite sink!! Isnt it hars to clean?

  29. Tiiti on May 15, 2023 at 10:40 am

    ❤️

  30. George Mohr on May 15, 2023 at 10:41 am

Isn’t a black sink a nightmare to keep clean?

  31. Angelique H on May 15, 2023 at 10:42 am

Can you make a video on mixing metals in kitchen? So far chose aged brass hardware and faucet on my white and dark gray cabinets to coordinate with my warm, lightcolored hardwood floor, but don’t want to overdo it.

  32. Paul Lucas on May 15, 2023 at 10:44 am

Yes, on the black composite sink review.

  33. Anna W on May 15, 2023 at 10:45 am

Just my opinion, but if somebody is telling me that an item is "super popular" or sells well, I steer clear away from it. Do you really want to own sth that half the population buys? hmm…

  34. Kimberly Perrotis on May 15, 2023 at 10:46 am

Butcher block is great, but I wouldn’t use if for the wet counter run (the one with the sink). No matter what, it will get water damage there eventually.

  35. Michele Hafey on May 15, 2023 at 10:47 am

Yes!! We are planning to remodel our kitchen this year, and I love your suggestions! ❤️

  36. Linda Livings Miller on May 15, 2023 at 10:48 am

What about calcium deposits and removing them? I love matte blk, but have very hard water. Also, I disagree about slab doors: modern and clean is never “grandma “.

  37. jaypeelim28 on May 15, 2023 at 10:49 am

Please do a home tour video! That background!! ❤️❤️❤️

  38. kore996 on May 15, 2023 at 10:51 am

How are you getting water spots on your black granite composite sink? We are waiting to change the counters so we can under mount it but have hard water and top mount right now and the water spots are a pain.

  39. zephyrlee on May 15, 2023 at 10:52 am

Everyone loves the matte black hardware…right up to the point where it scratches and scuffs. I have yet to meet black handle hardware that still looks great after 3 or 4 years. Yes, I am talking to you knurled edge wedding ring of destruction. It’s trendy and just like oil rubbed bronze (which also scratched unless it was the real patina thing) will be tired and dated in short order.

  40. Laura Risdall {minnesotateachermom} on May 15, 2023 at 10:52 am

I love how you get to the point and talk fast!

  41. Pheasant Queen on May 15, 2023 at 10:53 am

hi Nick, you did a video on floors, could you do one on natural stones – like travertine? what do you think about this more mediterranean look?

  42. josh benshoof on May 15, 2023 at 10:53 am

I really like the butcher block countertop

  43. Stakie on May 15, 2023 at 10:54 am

I didn’t see a 2021 of this, but really loved it. Especially about the butcherblock. I am currently in the redesign phase of my kitchen reno so this was so helpful

  44. Irene Norris Robling on May 15, 2023 at 10:55 am

I love love love my composite sink also in black like you Nick!

  45. Ann-Marie on May 15, 2023 at 10:55 am

The panelled appliances are such a german/ european thing! We are doing it for decades already!

  46. Pebetsi Ngwana on May 15, 2023 at 10:56 am

We’ve always done our cupboards to the ceiling in South Africa…for as long as I can remember.

  47. Tiffany Oz on May 15, 2023 at 10:56 am

Oh and I would love a review of your sink. My house came with a white sink that looked great when we moved in but now is impossible to make it look clean. It has scratches that trap stains and the drain holes were apparently painted and are now peeling.

  48. Osama Rao on May 15, 2023 at 11:00 am

Are there pictures of your current kitchen? I really wanna have a closer look please.

  49. 52 Sparks on May 15, 2023 at 11:01 am

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and knowledge. Very useful for me as I just relocated recently. I’m 69 yrs old and find it difficult to keep up with you. I can’t watch you videos too often because they make me nervous. I’m sure it’s my age not you. If possible could you not talk so fast? Thank you for great videos.

  50. Mary K on May 15, 2023 at 11:02 am

My kitchen has custom oak cabinets, oak hardwood floor and butcher block counter tops. I am SO over brown I’m about to bust!🤪 Can wood butcher block counters be painted? (Previous owners chose everything when they built it 16 years ago.)
