😂. “Lime Wash”. We were doing this same look with latex paint and wet rag scrubs back in the late 80’s

  2. whifling on March 7, 2023 at 8:43 am

Some of those marble look like the inkblot test

  3. mjname on March 7, 2023 at 8:44 am

Post pandemic? 60%+ of hospitalized patients in Massachusetts are fully vaccinated. And Omicron 4,5 hasn’t even hit yet. You are being very inconsiderate and dangerous to the people suffering from COVID19 right now.

  4. Krystal Figueroa on March 7, 2023 at 8:45 am

Because of the pandemic, we have lost many elderly. This has resulted in more and better estate sales and trips to the thrift store. Unfortunate events have contributed to gains in interior design, especially for those on a budget.

Sorry to disappoint, but colours are not chosen by fancy fashion designers. They are chosen by the multinationals based on the pigments that are available or they need to let out or are going to earn them more profit. Nothing to do with fancy conceptual designs. Those are the narratives that designers come up with a posteriori.

  6. Sunny Ray on March 7, 2023 at 8:48 am

I love green. If I only had to wear that one colour forever, I wouldn’t mind. I painted my office a rich khaki green and I absolutely love it

  7. Mae West on March 7, 2023 at 8:48 am

Like your videos a lot, but it seems to be better if you showed more pictures, each picture for longer time as well. When you show color samples, please do not show them in the shape of a highlighted drop … that seems very tacky from a design viewpoint.

  8. Elizabeth Viera on March 7, 2023 at 8:48 am

Is the lime wash something you can paint over easily? If you paint an apartment wall with it, can you easily paint it back to white before moving out?

  9. Yasmine Limage on March 7, 2023 at 8:51 am

    What was this anyway??

  10. Lisa Kilmer on March 7, 2023 at 8:53 am

I had to look up Grand Millenial style – and I saw a whole lot of photos that were just "English Country House" which is also a hodge-podge of furniture, sometimes with a lot of mixed patterns and sometimes very coordinated. So if that’s propelled by thrifting, it’s to be applauded. I live with that hodge-podge of 1890s through Mid-Century furniture, with almost no pattern, in a Craftsman-era house.

  11. This_one_simple_trick on March 7, 2023 at 8:55 am

I’m going grand millenial just to spite you

I have my computer on a small kitchen trolley thingy next to my lounge lol so I stretch my legs out and have the mouse on the arm of the lounge. 🤣 I made up an office space but I can’t sit at a desk.. I just can’t lol.

  13. Melissa Humphreys on March 7, 2023 at 8:56 am

I have a question. Do you think customized light switch/outlet covers could have a market?

  14. Aleccino on March 7, 2023 at 8:57 am

Anyone know where I can get that clock in the background?

Cottagecore! Yay! I’ve been full on Australian cottagecore since the 80s, and I’m now on trend again, lol. Bought my Australian bull-nosed wrought iron laced veranda, bay-window 4 bed cottage in the mid-90s. I have vintage piano stools as sidetables and a c1890s Australian Kauri pine sideboard with my grandparents bone handled silver in wooden inlaid cutlery chest. Time to go thrifting again, lol.

The limewash walls that you are showing are giving me PTSD. Our entire house had this horrible look when we moved in. The owners used a camel colored paint, so the whole place was very dark. They also used Metallica in the niches, and mossy green in the master bedroom. 🤮 Limewash is FAUX paint! Don’t do it. The painters had to sand down a lot of our walls to paint over it.

  18. Evan Hollis on March 7, 2023 at 9:04 am

The trends for this year will date quickly.

  19. LambentLark on March 7, 2023 at 9:05 am

I found a bunch of those curvy metal cd holders from back in the 90s. I took em apart and welded them into the shape of a dancer. I put it in my garden and planted clematis that grew all over it. It looked really pretty.

  20. Dianella Gonzalez on March 7, 2023 at 9:05 am

I like how you talk about home offices in a real way. I’ve seen too many "office" designs ideas online with a small desk in wich your elbows won’t even rest on, with candles, chandeliers and decorative objects that are just for the instagram photo. I mean deco its fine but not JUST deco. No room for actual computer use, or coffee, or computer/phone charger, or lamp. I wonder what they work with.

  21. empressmarowynn on March 7, 2023 at 9:06 am

Most of my furniture consists of antique hand me downs from various old ladies simply because I’m too poor to buy anything new, so hooray for being accidentally in style for once.

Thanks for the video! BTW, I like your clock on your wall. It looks super minimal and modern look. Can you share where I can get it?

  26. Barbara Koch on March 7, 2023 at 9:13 am

The problem with you Nick is that you only like one style and that’s it. You never show anything in different design styles. And when you do you always comment on "its not for you" Some of us still like Muskoka, cottage, not cluttered farmhouse , etc etc I like you, but I would like to see more samples of different design styles please.

  27. jodie vukmir on March 7, 2023 at 9:13 am

I have to say I found some art deco candlesticks that are simply to die for at an antique store.

Love your videos! Since it’s almost ubiquitous now, would you consider doing a video focusing on design tips for the Home Office? I (and I’m sure lots of others) would love to get your take on it!!! My apologies if you’ve already done one and I’ve missed it. Thank you for the videos and keep up the great work! ❤️

  30. Gail Sprangers on March 7, 2023 at 9:19 am

Wow! I just found you and am so happy I did! Finally someone who appreciates colors and materials of nature! I also see beautiful natural colored wood cabinets in your kitchen and around your home instead of all white. I appreciate all styles just like you, but really love how you express your own taste while still sharing what is the present style. I’m a blend😊. Who knew my green/cream/beige room that I have loved for years now would finally be in style! Love your video

I’m not a fan of desks with no storage. Everyone needs filing & storage space.
We’ve been lucky that we’ve always had a study in our homes.
Even now in our retirement we have a Study/Sitting Room. It’s nice to have more than one area
to sit and read or watch t.v.

Nick the first 14:24 minutes of this video show the trends but, first, sustainable decor is ridiculously expensive because of the materials that are used to construct as well as the limited availability on the market. Most of these pictures you show many people can’t afford to design their homes like that especially in this ‘pandemic economy.’ Then you bring up at 14:25 thrifting, antique and vintage which lends itself to DIY projects. DIY is the way to go because most people can’t afford a designer like yourself. DIY and thrifting gets a bad wrap but its great sustainability by ‘upcycling’. Again, anyone who can hire an interior decorator in today’s world has to be rich because decor is soooo expensive in this economy. I think its time to lost the idea that the average american household can afford an interior decorator and start doing more DIY’ing. One example is ‘duping’ things that are ridiculously priced, such as anything from Magnolia Home that is marked up 15X retail. You can dupe by DIY’ing similar products that are carried at PRICEY places like Kirkland’s, Magnolia Home, Home Goods, and even, At Home. I think that the economy is going to get more ‘super-inflated’ and DIY decor will have to be what most people choose. I just think that your channel and your ideas focus too much on (and you are talented BTW) what the upper crust can afford and not the average American household. My parents were interior designers and the only ones even in their days of business (1970’s & 80’s) that could afford their services were the clients who had at least one person per household making $100,000+ a year. Again, sustainable woods, marbles, granite and all that is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE which is proved by tile stores that are carrying products that are now running $35.00 per square foot compared to two years ago some of those products were priced 2X cheaper. I think its time to come back down to Earth where most of us live on a tight budget and DIY is the only possibility little lone the only choice.

I’m so annoyed that green is considered "trendy". It’s my favorite color and as my partner and I are working on getting a house, I know I am going to want blues and greens everywhere (he cant care less as long as his man cave is some sort of blue and has surround sound, a comfy couch and a huge oled tv in it). It’ll be a few years before we get a house of our own and it is going to annoy me to no end if I cant get my colors right around the sage green I want in the living room because of stupid trends.

  37. Leslie G on March 7, 2023 at 9:23 am

Nick, first, thanks I love your channel! Now,HELP, have you seen a stylish sit/stand desk?

  40. ConstantCompanion on March 7, 2023 at 9:28 am

I painted the interior of my house a very very pale green. It almost passes for white.. paired with a deep deep black green. Darker than Hunter green. And that was a cream trim. It’s gorgeous.. It’s a little more on the blue side than gray. But definitely green. Everybody told me I was crazy when I did it. Now they think it’s brilliant.

The high-contrast marble just looks gaudy to me, ngl. Like someone who suddenly came into some money but doesn’t have the taste to spend it wisely. That’s just the vibe I get from it, and it’s just my opinion. No shade on people who like the look. It’s just my impression of it.

  43. Natalia Romanova on March 7, 2023 at 9:32 am

Oof. Hard pass on that "statement" marble. Those kitchens made me dizzy to look at them.

  44. Megan 8687 on March 7, 2023 at 9:32 am

the computer room yes!! I am just old enough to have overlapped with that. The funny thing is that between going to online school my whole life, and my dad being self employed and having to do all his own paperwork, invoices, taxes etc, I never realized that a lot of people don’t have a computer room/home office anymore, or at least pre zoom, we’ve always needed one

  45. Crstlgazer1979 on March 7, 2023 at 9:34 am

LOL. I watched this on a bar stool, at my kitchen island. 😛

  46. R T on March 7, 2023 at 9:34 am

Honestly surprised that you like the Roman clay plaster look. The lime wash I can see…texture is cool, but honestly the plaster feels like people are trying to force an ancient Roman villa into a suburban house or urban apartment. It seems, to use your word, inauthentic. Like those walls are obviously 2x4s and sheetrock, not stone or handlayered plaster, so it’s like, who are you trying to fool? It reminds me a lot of a textured look my parents had put onto the walls during a 2004 remodel. I didn’t get it then and I don’t get it now.

  47. Mr Wuhan on March 7, 2023 at 9:36 am

Nick – seriously do something about that mole on your face.

  48. Jemma James on March 7, 2023 at 9:37 am

It would be boring if we all like the same things, that’s why I love being nosy looking at other peoples houses!

  49. Jane Smith on March 7, 2023 at 9:37 am

I am surprised that the lime wash and plaster walls are only now coming across the Atlantic.
This has been a trend in Europe for years, because it is healthy and the best wall treatment when it comes to highly insolated energy efficient houses. Besides it is an art – see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qx71HxySHh8
    or in architecture: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sybUfscDRqk&t=60s

  50. Donna Garside on March 7, 2023 at 9:38 am

I’m with you Nick concerning the squiggly lines! When I see it on clothing, I recoil in horror. I feel offended that some one is trying sell me this cheap, juvenile and unimaginative piece of clothing or art. I think a 2 year old would be offended! 😄
