I am a 90s kid. I may not grew up in the 1960s. But I grew up in a household where our furniture was a mixed of the 60s, 70s & 80s. Some furniture pieces were passed down & the rest were new. Our living room furniture was always in pristine condition. Cuz it always had plastic covers. Uncomfortable to sit in the summertime of course. Lace doily with some figurine on top of the TV box. Before flat screens came along years later. But good times. ๐Ÿ‘

Meanwhile…..Vietnam and massive protesting, Civil Rights unrest and riots consistently during this period of time
If you were a person of color or were in Vietnam( or both) this had to have been a very complicated and conflicting time period for you

  3. Patricia Brooks on February 12, 2023 at 5:18 am

    loved it

  4. Molly Campbell on February 12, 2023 at 5:18 am

Those split-level side tables, and the tiny pictures hung WAY UP HIGH. Oh, my word.

  5. Laurel on February 12, 2023 at 5:19 am

lot of memories came up for me looking at these photos…born in the early 50’s, teen yrs in 60’s…married in 69..this was my furniture in my first home.lol…

  6. Rebecca Ambriz on February 12, 2023 at 5:19 am

I was born late 60s and the furniture then was great and I love antique as well๐Ÿ˜‰

  7. Kahlo Diego on February 12, 2023 at 5:20 am

    Old and homesick.

  8. JMH on February 12, 2023 at 5:20 am

They all seem to have the same end table with two levels!

  9. shasha-muse on February 12, 2023 at 5:21 am

    This was "SO" much fun.
I was born in the 60s and the decor feels so familiar.
The furniture, the clothes, the hair, the music. If I sound like an old fossil…I care zero.๐Ÿ™‚
This is when people cared what they wore. Always dapper even when lounging around the house and respect was a given.
    The simplicity speaks for itself.
    Less was more.
I really miss those days and thanks to your video I can always stroll down memory lane while looking at my old photos as well.
The music accompanying this video is very relaxing as well.
Thank you so much for putting this compilation together.
    Peace and love.

I miss that in the 60’s , Sunday was about family . The only things open were church and a few gas stations .

  11. c g Annis on February 12, 2023 at 5:23 am

That time period was the absolute worst for fashion not only in our homes but the clothes as well. Nothing about these pics is pleasing. The houseโ€™s are cold and bland – nothing is cozy, warm or inviting about them!

    I remember.๐Ÿ˜บโœŒ๏ธโ˜ฎ๏ธ

It’s so weird, seeing close details of moments in lives long ago, of people you’ve never met or known in any way. The young woman in her graduation gown, now probably in her 70s or even 80s. The small children who are all on the high side of middle aged. The adults are all now very old, if they’re even still with us at all. And so very much has changed since these pictures were taken.

I know it’s a cliched thing to say, but…. It was a different world then.

    When life made sense.

  15. Randy Surline on February 12, 2023 at 5:27 am

A little before my time. Kool seeing what my folks "lived in". All the pretty woman are a bonus ๐Ÿ˜

  16. Court Heath on February 12, 2023 at 5:27 am

Interesting. My family photos from the 1950s on look nothing like this. They had Chippendale, Hepplewhite, Queen Anne made of traditional solid wood with Chintz fabrics, leather, silk wall covering, The floors were wood with large Asian or Persian looking rugs. The TVs looked the same. Maybe it is a South Carolina thing. Great photos – I learned a lot.

  17. glasslinger on February 12, 2023 at 5:29 am

Small, dingy, cluttered. I remember that well from when I was a kid. Now, my living room is, well, small, dingy, and cluttered! Oh well.

I remember orange, black, cream, and brown carpet. If company was coming, after vacuuming we would have to rake ourselves out of the room removing any footprints. There was such an importance by my parents to make whatever they had look perfect. We were not rich but not poor. Mom was very tidy.

    Terrible ๐Ÿ˜ฃ

  22. Bob Carlino on February 12, 2023 at 5:36 am

I’ve got to say that I THOROUGHLY enjoy each and every one of the various "nostalgia" videos that you post to YouTube. And the music that plays with most of them (which, I believe you call Nice and Easy and Running Waters) is absolutely perfect for the various trips back through time. It wouldn’t be one of your videos without those two pieces of music. Being a car guy, I particularly love the videos that show photos of everyday people posing with their cars…I can’t get enough of those! This video was awesome, too, as it reminded me so well of my parent’s living rooms throughout the 1960’s. Terrific job, as always!!

  23. vegantattoo on February 12, 2023 at 5:37 am

I smiled through the whole video. Thank you for that trip down memory lane.

  24. Jo Do on February 12, 2023 at 5:39 am

    Thank You!"

  25. Tannar buck on February 12, 2023 at 5:41 am

So cool if I had enough money I would make a house with each room a different Decade living room from the 50โ€™s-90โ€™s

  26. Tessa Ducek on February 12, 2023 at 5:43 am

    The console TVs were great.
My parents had a star splash? Clock as well.
In spite of the funky clothing and hair styles. I really miss those times. The posing always made me giggle. I swear i know some of those folks! Wink*
I was blissfully unaware of the discord going on around.
Todays technology and media has people in such a frenzied lather !
Thank You for the flashback.. ๐Ÿค—

  27. Scwaty on February 12, 2023 at 5:45 am

Great photos, every picture I would see little things that would remind me of earlier days visiting family, usually during the holidays. Thank you for bringing back memories of simpler times

  28. Debra Longpre on February 12, 2023 at 5:46 am

Itโ€™s different back then it seemed the living room was the gather place and now itโ€™s the kitchen area.

I know the 60s was a turning point in the US with anti war protests/ riots in CA were starting to flourish. But, we said, "oh, that’s those crazy Californians for you". Times were still good for the families though. I was a teen back then. I never got to watch much TV because our family watched very little TV. I was at my friend’s house and we were out walking all over our small town. Just talking and walking. Never had a problem either. I never had junk food and only recall having chocolate cake for Sunday dinner’s desert, never had a soda either until I got married. It was a time of dancing at the beach, laughing with our friends, going to football games at school on Friday nights and hoping to meet a good looking guy! Yea, it was a nice time.

I grew up in New England and largely escaped this modern stuff. Then by 67 I was totally Boho all natural.. I still think this was a very ugly period.

  31. Sue Ehorn on February 12, 2023 at 5:52 am

At some point,I thought some of them were relatives!!!

  32. Sous Chef on February 12, 2023 at 5:52 am

Such a happy time when homes weren’t black, white, or grey, and people were less stressful and overweight because they smoked. And no fast food.

  33. Jerome Taperman on February 12, 2023 at 5:53 am

Remember when a TV and a stereo were pieces of furniture?

  34. Luis Reyes on February 12, 2023 at 5:54 am

I can just describe all those 60’s era living rooms in one word: SUAVE. ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸŽจ

    Stop ๐Ÿ›‘ ๐Ÿ›‘

  36. bruce nicholls on February 12, 2023 at 5:58 am

Stop everyone romanticizing the past ! Lots of unpleasant shit going on then ! Just like now !

  37. Ashraya Prem on February 12, 2023 at 5:58 am

Not that much different from living rooms today. The hairstyles give it away though!

  38. J Stephens on February 12, 2023 at 5:58 am

    Great lamps.

  39. Lady LS on February 12, 2023 at 5:59 am

YES. I grew up with a home that had a Formal Living room. It was so elegant just beautiful. Chandelier , Stereo console, Piano and Oriental rug . The works. My Mom had wonderful taste. She always put our Christmas tree in that room and we opened presents in that room. We took our Prom pics and special event pics in that room . One day I want a home with a Formal Living room that always stays nice and clean. I LOVE YOU MOMMY ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

    Love it

  43. Amy Fitts on February 12, 2023 at 6:03 am

So wonderful to see these pictures of times gone by. Recognize several things that my family had both immediate and maternal and paternal grandparents. Loved seeing the Bible on the table. The music is perfect and I love it. Thank you for sharing this.

  44. Cieria Perkins on February 12, 2023 at 6:04 am

Its was fun in 1960/_but I was not born back then lol

  45. Trudi Rrinhard on February 12, 2023 at 6:05 am

The family around the dining room table discussing the world events. Its where I learned to think critically and how to write essays on exams by restating the question. And how to never lie.

  46. A. Scott H. on February 12, 2023 at 6:05 am

Ugliest living rooms I have ever seen! And I’ve seen almost 80 years of living rooms!!

  47. Ms. Tea Versation on February 12, 2023 at 6:06 am

Such wonderful memories I was a little girl back then …I remember when JFK was assassinated.

    Thanks for sharing!!

  48. Hopelessand Forlorn on February 12, 2023 at 6:08 am

So, no wonder kids in the 60s began taking to the streets.

  49. Ksane on February 12, 2023 at 6:09 am

The TV’s ๐Ÿคฃ I was born in 1960 so these pictures are my childhood. It’s bittersweet but who would ever want to go back to it?? Party lines for phones, NO internet, medical knowledge was so limited, the police didn’t have any of their current forensics (and yes, we needed it back then). Women and POC were treated horribly, child abuse & beating your wife wasn’t even a crime! Yea, I remember it all. And I don’t want to go back.

  50. Michael Constatine on February 12, 2023 at 6:10 am

    People were colorblind back then.
