WOW I too am in Pittsburgh what a kawinky dink that I found your channel. And guess what I don’t even have a TV in my living room space nor my bedroom. We are so disconnected with phones/social media etc etc.And Ive always enjoyed the pillow chop but I neverhave the pillows to do it lol and my entire space colors are grey/gray golds silvers blacks rust pewter

  4. Rebekah Donnenwerth on January 14, 2023 at 4:07 am

As far as design inspiration photos, I think no longer chopping the pillows is helpful. I was looking at those photos and thought “oh, it looks like someone lives there! Like someone was just laying on that couch”.

Oddly enough, it almost makes the style seem more attainable? Like I can have good style in a house that I live in.

  5. Alyssa Hutton on January 14, 2023 at 4:08 am

If the TV isn’t going to be the focus, then we need more swivel items. My husband would never go for that unfortunately.

  6. Mashuda Begum on January 14, 2023 at 4:09 am

So glad chopping is out I hated it from the beginning.

  7. simaradesfalaises on January 14, 2023 at 4:12 am

whatever I do to my pillows… cats undo it.. so my pillows live their lives and my cats too and seriously who cares!?! (I do apologise my language isn’t perfect, my bad I’m from France!)

  8. Maille MacAnaugh on January 14, 2023 at 4:13 am

Chopping the pillows out: chucking the pillows on the couch! Whp whp whp! Boom, done!
Also: every Italian ever: you don’t move your hands too much!

  9. ThatArtist on January 14, 2023 at 4:18 am

Not getting rid of my puck lights. 😀 Brown was in?

  10. Just Browsing on January 14, 2023 at 4:20 am

Thank goodness the chopped pillows are out…
Everyone and their mama was doing that.

  11. BriteBlonde1 on January 14, 2023 at 4:21 am

I love your hand gestures. xo

  12. CT Heard on January 14, 2023 at 4:22 am

    Hey I’m a pillow and I’m chillin

  13. Sofija62 on January 14, 2023 at 4:22 am

For you, for sure elevator is needed. But if you are cleaver enough your personal trend should be sitting on the floor so 100 times a day sit and stend up and no need for elevator anymore.

  14. LolaGlow on January 14, 2023 at 4:24 am

My Pottery Barn black out linen curtains work really well for darkening and never wrinkle. So worth it if you’re still interested in linen ❤

  15. Mary on January 14, 2023 at 4:24 am

This is funny as just a few days ago, I was looking at some staged homes with all their pillows in the same "chop" and I thought, you know I find that kind of strange looking! lol So, glad it is out honestly even tho I never did it. Also, you made me laugh out loud with you "moving your hands too much, then placing them in your lap.’ Thanks for that. Love your videos!

  16. DIY with KB on January 14, 2023 at 4:28 am

Are you team pillow chop?!?! Vote under this comment!

  17. Kailey Tingey on January 14, 2023 at 4:30 am

It really doesn’t make any sense to go into 2023 striving for more comfort and ease of living and in the same time frame turn your sofas away from the TV. This is not a comfortable way of living. Unless you almost always have guests and spend no time alone.

  18. katie hemstreet on January 14, 2023 at 4:33 am

I was sure open shelving was gonna be on here. 😆

  19. Diary of a NYC housewife on January 14, 2023 at 4:33 am

Great video, thanks for putting it together. I also think the colour white is in and everyone is getting everything white these days..

  20. Alice Gauteng on January 14, 2023 at 4:34 am

I agree with everything except TV and linen curtains. Mine are staying!

  21. x x on January 14, 2023 at 4:34 am

    Slow down

  22. Julie K on January 14, 2023 at 4:35 am

I’ve always hated the chopped pillow look. Always seemed too staged and weird to me

  23. alex on January 14, 2023 at 4:36 am

In fairness it might be abit odd to sit there facing the sofa a painting or a mirror

  24. Jasmine Jenkins on January 14, 2023 at 4:38 am

I am the Virgo-user Virgo and I change my pillowcases with the season but I’ve never been team pillow chop. I’ve always liked them to just feel like they’re just hanging there leaning around all cooly.

  25. Linda Bell on January 14, 2023 at 4:41 am

Nope make you home what you love unless you investing to sale it. That’s what I said your home is your treatment for the hardship of the day. If your sale you worry about the trend or matching of the outside. Lol mostly go plain and neutral.

  26. Yasiris Sanchez Moya on January 14, 2023 at 4:42 am

I never understood the pillow chopping anyways

  27. Bedina Bebe🐝 on January 14, 2023 at 4:42 am

Because you moved your hands Kiva I see that your nails look great!

  28. Alice L on January 14, 2023 at 4:43 am

A chopped pillow indicates that the coach is not being used. Therefore, it gives the room a "dead space" vibe. Not anywhere near cozy or inviting when the pillows are telling you to stay away.

  29. Gina Gibson on January 14, 2023 at 4:43 am

Thanks for the tips and I agree on the brown is out my bedroom set is brown but after 15 yrs I want a more soft lighter color TYFS and be BLESSED 👍🏾

  30. Michelle Fogolin on January 14, 2023 at 4:44 am

I don’t own any throw pillows. I find them super annoying🤷‍♀️

  31. DasPikachu on January 14, 2023 at 4:47 am

Also, me living in an ugly apartment building when I hear that "the exterior and the interior need to compliment one another": 🥵

  32. Cheryl Rosbak on January 14, 2023 at 4:47 am

I’ve seen people say that chopping pillows is elitist — it can only be done to feather pillows and therefore is only done to show off that you can afford feather pillows. I don’t care either way, I just want people to have pillows I can stuff behind my back so I can be comfortable sitting on their giant couches.

  33. GeeGee on January 14, 2023 at 4:47 am

Why do home decor people put throws in entryway baskets? Am I missing the practicality of this? 😂😂

  34. Alison on January 14, 2023 at 4:48 am

I’m just here to second your opinion on King of Queens 😂 My absolute fav!

  35. Sharon Franklin on January 14, 2023 at 4:48 am

I’ve never liked the chopped pillow look so I’m happy!

  36. Genshin Amber on January 14, 2023 at 4:49 am

I love the puck lights – but they honestly lose light power after a few hours.

  37. DasPikachu on January 14, 2023 at 4:49 am

Me who literally just bought beige & earth red paint to redo my room: (ಠ_ಠ)
(No srsly I’m fine with being out of trend haha, I WANT this!)

  38. Thatonedog on January 14, 2023 at 4:50 am

I’ll fight you on the all leather recliner. I love mine to death. It’s ugly, but comfy and doesn’t hold pet hair. I’ve taken the best naps of my life in that chair

  39. Kiah Morgan on January 14, 2023 at 4:53 am

Fun video Thankyou! What is that amazing book stand called? Such a good idea!

  40. allison northway on January 14, 2023 at 4:59 am

I love your decorating ideas KB! and as for "Chopping your pillows" I’m in TOTAL agreement with you! I’ve HATED that look since someone came up with it. Why would anyone want their decorator pillows to have rabbit ears!! Keep up the good work 🙂

  41. Lettie B on January 14, 2023 at 5:00 am

I never been a huge trend person. People just buy what you love and that will make your space comfortable to you! All these in and out trends will have people on edge about wasting money. These type videos give me anxiety but I watched and I can say that I do not have any of these trends in my home.

  42. mamatosh05 on January 14, 2023 at 5:02 am

So glad I move to the beat of my drum & don’t follow trends. That couch, chopping your pillows, the walls with all the layers (that collect dust super easy) I just didn’t get with.

  43. Speak on it with Annie on January 14, 2023 at 5:03 am

Forgot about chopping the pillow, so I went over and chopped one of them… by choice of course.

  44. Linda Bell on January 14, 2023 at 5:03 am

Those who style around TV’s are sports entertainment minded ,though young kids watching is a factor also. Those who style a room a TV is in are either computer, phone or book minded.

  45. Linda Bell on January 14, 2023 at 5:03 am

If the batteries in the bulbs are watch size it want last. These little things lost are not safe to have for animals or babies.

  46. Linda Bell on January 14, 2023 at 5:04 am

Curtain style and material like the duties depends on location in the world let alone country. The climate and light desire rules.

  47. wudgee on January 14, 2023 at 5:04 am

I’ve never heard of puck lights or that sofa. That sofa doesn’t support your back, I’d never have bought that. Not heard of chopping cushions either, what a funny idea. Looks like I escaped some funny trends. My TV is is the corner to the right of the woodburner, so I suppose the wood burner is the focus, that works. The TV is important to our relaxation and entertainment so still needs to easily watchable.

  48. Shabzamin on January 14, 2023 at 5:04 am

I learned that I know 0 about current and old trends. Still fascinating video to me. 🤷🏽‍♀️

  49. aFAview on January 14, 2023 at 5:04 am

I was so close in not being on trend until the last portion “light wood” 🙂

  50. babyj910 on January 14, 2023 at 5:05 am

I’ve always hated chopping pillows. Plump healthy looking pillows was always what I liked. Lol
