A Day In The Life | Van Life Texas

A Day In The Life | Van Life Texas

Welcome to a day in the life Texas style. From San Antonio to Marble falls where we have a delicious meal at The Real New Orleans restaurant. We take a fun stop in Kingsland Texas to check out the Texas Chainsaw massacre movie set. We then continue our way to Enchanted Rock and Fredericksburg in our Winnebago Revel 4×4 Mercedes Sprinter van and push south to Luckenbach Texas. All of these adventures are amazing but then we have to keep a promise to our Fox Red Lab named Ember and we take her to the Guadalupe River to do some swimming until a storm rolls in while we take refuge in our home on wheels.

Thanks for sharing this with us. I need to go to Luckenbach, TX someday now! I do think Jim should wear that shirt with TX inside AK though….

When you go through Jackson, TN be sure to play Jackson by Johnny Cash too! One of my favorites for sure!
"I’m going to Jackson, I’m gonna mess around
    Yeah, I’m goin’ to Jackson
    Look out Jackson town"!🎶🎵🎸

Do you have a video about your electrical? I’d really like to see how you run your air conditioning on battery. BTW Great video’s.

Great video. I’m a New Orleans boy so happy you enjoyed our cuisine, even if you had to go to Texas to find it! Safe travels!

Guys, love your channel. But struggling with the changes you are making. More outdoors, Jim’s one pot and you yourselves, would be great. Would love to see more about you guys. Sorry, do not want to be disrespectful but there has been a massive change in content from the videos you did in Alaska. Take care.

The Hill Country is a region I’ve never visited but hope to soon. I’ll pass on “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” set…. I’m old and some of my meds produce quite vivid dreams. I don’t need the stimulation. AirPods, Jim, AirPods! 😂 America’s still out there but sometimes you have to look on the backroads.

You guys are one of my favorite Vlogers and Influencers 👍 your videography and narration calms me…the sunset to 🌟 night time scenery was peaceful and somewhat mystical ❤️ Thanks for sharing your Texas experiences with us. Hugs to Ember. Keep safe always ! Till next week! I

So glad that you found some water for Ember to play in and she sure did play and enjoy it. We managed to stay one night in Hill Country traveling across Texas in 2017 and were in a heck of a rain storm going from Louisiana into Texas. Your evening in Hill Country as the sun was setting looked fairly dark when you had Ember out but I assume it must have been the camera setting or angle, it seems like it must have been lighter out then it looked. The food looked great, you didn’t have room for the crawfish boil they advertised. Travel safe.

Okay I know this has NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS VIDEO YET; Here is my made up CHICKEN STEW recipe from scratch.

Your type of chicken you like and as much as you need. (All ingredients are as to how much you need to put in for how many people you are serving.). Onion garlic cayenne pepper oregano basil chicken stock or broth ginger paste from a jar diced tomatoes plain or with whatever variety you like. Put in your instant pot for 15 minutes and then when it has naturally released unless you’re in a hurry add fresh mushrooms if you have them or canned if you don’t and zucchini or yellow squash or if you don’t like either one of those carrots along with a package of wild brown rice already to eat mix package. Turn Insta pot back on after counseling the previous session for another five minutes let it go do it cycle and natural release or if you’re in a hurry do your own quick release. Always use as much ingredients as you know you need so that you don’t get a burn out us especially the liquids the tomatoes are not drained and all spices are according to what you feel is necessary.

Feel free to share this recipe with whoever you used figure

    ENJOY !!!

I can’t afford the Roam Rig power upgrade on my Revel. Any reason I can’t run the Sprinter AC with the engine idling?

    Hallo,
Happy to see that every thing is going OK with all of you, it’s a while since my last comment.
Happy to see that you are enjoying the sunny weather, food and nature. Ember is looking awesome as always.
I am a bit confused, the title of this video is written in German language, do you speak German or are you from one of the German speaking countries?
Take care and enjoy the trip

We love your show! Hope you like the Hill Country as much as we do. That’s why we moved here. A song called (That’s what I like about Texas) by Gary P. Nunn says it all. We are headed to the mountains of NM to cool off. Although the temperature this summer hasn’t been to bad yet cuz of the rain. Everything is still green! Amazing!

  36. Terry Burns on February 27, 2023 at 8:53 am

I see Ember really enjoyed the water. I don’t know about that area but be careful in East Texas. Friend I had that came from Texas says a lot of the ponds and water areas are covered in poisonous snakes.

  37. Sherry Davis on February 27, 2023 at 8:54 am

Out in Luckenbach, Texas there ain’t nobody feelin’ no pain

    Love that song!

  39. Brian Green on February 27, 2023 at 8:54 am

I loved your mention of the “amazing places we find along the way” when showing your map’s pinned location as “Location Unknown”. That’s how you know you’re truly seeing someplace great. Hearing about, “The Real New Orleans Style Restaurant” and their story of moving to Marblefalls, Texas because of Hurricane Katrina. It’s always great to hear stories of the positives instead of the so very many negatives from that storm.

I loved hearing about Cynthia’s love of antiques. As someone who’s collected antiques from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, I can completely understand. Oh the many stories I have about how I acquired them all. I’ll tell you around the campfire someday. The camera work inside the antique shop told me everything I needed to know about Cynthia and antiques. The camera’s everywhere. Ohh, look at that! Ohh, look at that! Ohh, look at that! Ohh, look at that! 😃. And of course the pause at the not-so-antique Insta-Pot for sale! 😂

The food you ordered looked AMAZING!!! Those Southern folks sure do know how to cook! Was Jim taking notes? I know I would have been! The Falkenstein Castle in Texas was truly a surprise! Off in the distance it seems to take inspiration from Neuschwanstein, which I’ve been to many times. Seeing Ember sitting calmly during sunset without her panting shows us all that she’s managed to find a temperature that she doesn’t disagree with. The giant Yucca in the background (if that’s what it is) seems so out of place given the rest of the trees in the landscape. Just curious, why was her leash on if you folks were the only ones out there? Was she running off on you? Fantastic shots of Cynthia strolling in the sunset! Was that Jupiter you focused on at sunset? It was a mighty big “star”. The time-lapse of the stars was awesome. I could watch those all day long. Hearing the crickets in the background made it even better. Such awesome shots!

The shots of the top of the Revel in the morning with the focus on the Max Trax left me wondering…is this foreshadowing?!?!? 😂 And here I was saying, “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” before you even showed it. Reading the sign saying that it was completely dismantled to be refurbished was awesome. Some places have too much character to leave us. I loved the look Cynthia gave when Jim said that he’s excited to see the inside of the set. Just imagine Edwin Neal who played Leatherface having to do all of that acting in the hot Texas sun without taking off that mask!?!! That guy was one Hard Charger! At the bar, the Basket of Bacon sounds incredible, but your choices looked delicious!

It was awesome getting to see Ember finally get to play in the water! She is, after all, part fish! That spot you found looked like a lot of fun! Seeing all of the water trails zipping off of her wagging tail was priceless! Those Texas Longhorns made my neck hurt just looking at them. Just imagine the strength of their necks just to raise their heads!

I loved your closing comment. Your lives have gotten better through change. You’re so very right! Looks like you’re experiencing quite the “Gully Washer” there in the Revel, to the point where you had to use your hazards. Well, I guess the Revel’s clean now! Beautiful closing shot of the American & Texas flags flying in the storm. Thanks for taking us along.

Thank you friends for taking us along. Ember running through the water is nothing short of pure joy.

Sorry we missed you in Idaho! Please let us know if you come back, you’ll have a place to park & charge, unlimited shower time, and a bed to stay in! Understand the Canadian border is open for transit and, understanding it’s a loaded question, want you opinion on the best time to visit Alaska? (We wanted to meet you there, but not possible now with you in the lower 48.) Would like to do some fishing and touring for 2 to 3 weeks. Any recommendations you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
