This is the all-new Toyota Harrier 2021 aka the 2021 Toyota Venza in some regions.
The all new 2021 Toyota Harrier has been revealed, and before anybody asks what that is, it is the Toyota of the Lexus RX, both riding on Toyota’s latest TNGA-K platform. It is only sold, as an addition to the RX, in Japan, Malaysia and Singapore. Traditionally, it just has been sold as a rebadged RX before Lexus was launched in Asia.
For the all new 4th generation, the Harrier gains a fresh front fascia with sharp LED headlights and taillights, where height has been lowered 30mm to compliment that as well as having an almost sloping roof design. Overall, exterior looks are more of an evolution from the 3rd gen, while being an all new model beneath the skin, however, the big design changes are on the inside. 19″ alloys are standard, and it will be available with seven different paint jobs.
Inside this cabin is where the significant changes are for the new Harrier to distinguish it from the 3rd gen. An all new 12.3 inch touchscreen, two tone synthetic leather (with leather as an option) and a Mclaren-like electrochromatic panoramic sunroof that blurs out the glass to block off UV rays from entering the cabin, all basic stuff for an SUV in 2020 (maybe not the fancy sunroof) until the main party piece of the car: It has the first ever digital cabin mirror fitted to a car from Toyota.
Powering the new Harrier will be a four cylinder that produces 169hp and 207nm (153lb-ft) of torque, with power sent to the front wheels only, but AWD is optional. In Japan there will be also a hybrid model offered, with a total of 215hp, where a 176hp four cylinder is combined with a 118hp (88kw) battery. AWD models in the hybrid model also get an independent 54hp (40kw) motor to power the rear wheels. All engine choices are paired with a CVT gearbox like all other new Toyota models.
The car launch would take place in Japan around June this year, and at a later date for Malaysia and Singapore, with no info on the possibility of it being available in new markets. The current 3rd gen Harrier starts at 3,004,100 JPY (22,300 GBP/27,900 USD/25,600 EUR), so expect a slight increase in price for this new 4th gen.
