Architectural Drawing Tutorial | My process + settings

Architectural Drawing Tutorial | My process + settings

In this architectural drawing tutorial I’ll walk you through the exact settings, line weights, pen styles and layers I use to develop architectural drawings digitally for my clients. We’ll focus on how to recreate the floor plan you see in this image, our reference project here in Maine that we’ve been following.
You’ll also learn how architects choose what to draw, how we approach our drawings conceptually, and how we organize information. This one is filled with drafting tips and tricks you can use everyday, whether you’re a seasoned pro, an architecture student or just curious about how architects work.

Thanks for this step-by-step tutorial. Coming out with all these CAD drawings means you have to spend long hours in front of the monitor. I wonder how do you cope with eye strain? This is my biggest drawback when working with CAD drawings. Is there a method you use to cope with this issue?

How do you work out what ratios to use in architecture as in how big the house will be compared to a person living in it? Does that make sense (architecture interests me and would love to persue it someday)

Can you explain to us in a detailed video about the various advanced applications in architecture as you can see all the time there is a new application for each batch I am an architect from Algeria🤗🤗🤗

  29. DA7545 on May 13, 2022 at 10:34 pm

Another tip in CAD… You can shut some layers off to work and you know what layers you want on for the final print. You can save the layer states. One for working, and one for final. And any others you may want.

For a potential first time ever user of AutoCAD LT, what type / model / capacity hardware (assuming a laptop) is recommended? So many to chose from and later (if successful in LT) I might move forward with Revit to work on visualization.

This lesson is easier to understand. I know very well how boring college education can be, you make it easier and more interesting to learn. That’s something very few people have, good work. 👏🏻
