I’m half Dutch. The way G is pronounced in Dutch is very strange, it’s almost like you have cough while saying it!
(҂ ͡❛ ͜ʖ ͡❛)ᕤ
<3
10:25 Just 3 days short of his 88th birthday.
I have always pronounced it as ‘van goff’.
Van Gogh: Latin is a dead language!
Me, an American high school student studying Latin: Yea you’re not wrong
at 2:14 when you say ‘vincent of gogh’ and and when you talk about the german town goch, the pronounciation is really really close to the dutch one 🙂 closer than the examples you named before. except we say the first ‘g’ the same as the last ‘gh’.
I’ve always said Van Go. My favorite painting is Starry Night. I never knew others said his name differently, not until I saw a Doctor Who episode about Vincent.
Pronunciation: Vihn-Cint Vahn Goh

I say Vincent van GOFF
6:34 He was likely influenced by the Japanomania that was occurring in Britain at that time.
You should do "10 overrated paintings and alternatives that need more attention", for Mona Lisa is a crappy painting with rather low artistic quality, it is almost as exciting as a passport photo today, so there has to be much more interesting paintings just some steps from it. What painting that are not tourist traps had you selected as favorites?
You should do the Tudor last name from King Henry VIII
Watch his Doctor Who episode. Take a lot of tissues!!
Your drawings are adorable and we all enjoy it
Vincent was murdered
The dutch G is really hard it can also be spelled ch like the german one well good luck
Vin 🪙🚐🏃🏻♂️⬅️
Khokh and ball torture from Wikipedia the free encyclopedia
He was seen by Jeanne Calment in
Arles.
Do Christopher Columbus
…but, how do you pronounce…
*G E K O L O N I S E E R D?!*
The trouble with talking about Van Gogh is that you can’t pronounce his name without either sounding like an art snob or coming across as an idiot. There’s not much wiggle room there, unless you are obviously Dutch, in which case you’ll be called upon to provide a pronunciation lesson. I assume that’s why people like calling him just plain "Vincent."
Van "Goff" is how I have pronounced it for as long as I can remember. I pronounced it Van "Go" when I was a child.
I prefere Theo van gogh
5:49 this image is literally on my math book
I used to pronounce it Go but switched to Goff after seeing the Doctor Who episode
theo is a real one
Can you do one on Niccolo machiavelli
Vincent’s story always makes me cry.
What’s your favourite Van Gogh painting? Or any painting by any artist?
i’m a van Gogh but i cant find the link to which brother where in the family tree for the life of me. although all the men i know up until my grandfather have reoccurring first names in the family. and live in and around the Netherlands so i’m pretty sure there is a link just not known to me. my best guess is its a pre father of Vincent patrilineal branch.
If anyone is interested you should definitely watch the doctor who episode on van Gogh, one of the most beautiful episode of a tv I’ve ever watched ever
Van Gogh was just another nutty guy who painted like a drunk 5 year old. Almost certainly insane. Why do we venerate these ppl? My father could draw with a pencil so realistically that you couldnt tell the difference between his drawings and a photograph. No one knows him for his art though. And his art will never be seen by ppl who make art famous. Yet some lunatic who made some poorly drawn squiggly lines is now world famous… thats whats fucked up.
Imagine being able to say Vincent Van Gogh was my great grand Uncle
At least he didnt become the "Mustache Man" of Netherlands
Nord vpn, why am I not surprised that a video is sponsored by nord vpn…
2:06 Van Gokh (being german and all)
Pretty sure im related to him.
It’s not entirely true that he didn’t have any formal training, he got a couple of drawing lessons and even lived for a time in th Dutch city of Tilburg (which is my hometown)
I pronounce "Van Gogh" as "Van Gog" (with a hard "g", not "j").
"Van Gogh"
"ok"
van gone!!
8:10
What the heck were you trying to say? ‘One foodoferovov’? Why not try a second take?
Again I’m surprised watching this video how much difficulty you have pronouncing English words. If you have a rhotic speech impediment, then okay, it is what it is. But ever since I’ve seen you do a talking head in which your English was pretty normal, I keep wondering why you can’t speak like that when narrating your usual videos.
Vencent Van Go
I understand there’s no English equivalent for the -g- sounds in ‘Gogh’, but at least the -o- sounds are similar to those (British pronunciations -o-) in ‘got’, ‘shot’, ‘nod’ etc. (Not the more American style -a-)
Do a "Are there any Marxs left?" Heard- one of his Great, Great, Great, Grandsons became a Parkour God doing epic shit infront of McDonalds (ironic)
He’s down bad
Please do king Leopold the 2nd or the whole family if you can I beg it would be very interesting
Here in Denmark we pronounce it: "Fan Gock"
I had no idea he killed himself. School is useless.
