BEST NEUTRAL PAINT COLORS for your Home | Julie Khuu
Having worked in the interior design industry for over 16 years, you can bet I play favorites when it comes to neutral paint colors. As much as I love a bold and colorful paint statement, it’s always nice to start with a neutral foundation and layer on colors from there. Check out this video for my fav paint colors that I use time and time again from top brands like Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, Dunn Edwards, Farrow and Ball, and Behr.
PLUS the best picks for your living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and more! Thank you for watching!

Are they industrial
My husband and I are building (ugh) but your videos are helping so much! Other than the master bedroom and bathrooms, I was considering using one ‘neutral’ color for the dining, living & kitchen; it’s an open concert floor plan. Is this a good or bad idea? And thank you for all your videos!
You must be on the west coast…
This video was great definitely helpful I’m definitely about to subscribe we’re just moving into our house and we need to paint everything got a lot of great ideas from you thank you
thank u so much
Your so arrogant not everyone can afford the Chanel nail polish!!!!!
Our walls are satin white along with white doors an trim. Our floors are dark oak brown. i say its too much white on white. I was thinking Greige walls and white trim and doors. What’s your opinion
Im over gray and loving the warmer whites.
Hi Julie!! My wife and I consider you our favorite Youtube Interior Designer. Great content. We have one question. We need advice on how to decide what to paint on the accent wall. (lighter darker, etc?) Do you have any video that specifically advises on that? If not, can you give some quick advise? Thank you for what you do!
What sheen do you recommend for trim? Should I go with eggshell for living room, bedrooms, for durability with kids? I love the look of flat, but eggshell or satin has been recommended to me.
i painted my walls black because of my pain
Julie, I live in Florida and unable to purchase the Dunn Edwards paint you recommend for Crown moldings, doors baseboards etc. DEW380
Do you have a second one from either Benjamin Moors, or another brand available in Florida?
Loving all your videos Julie, I’m just whizzing through them to help renovate my home – top tier guidelines!
Question for everyone, do you use 1 main wall colour throughout the house or different wall colours e.g. upstairs vs downstairs main walls?
Love your video, Julie! May I ask what is your favorite white trim color from Behr?
Hi Ms Khuu you are an inspiration to me. I am embarking on a project and would be grateful for your guidance. How do I contact you?
Julie you are the best designer I really like the way you explain each and every detail thanks so much
Hi ! I’m having my house rebuilt after a fire and we are at the point I have pick colors for the contractor to paint. I really want neautrals on the lighter side due to small space and also prefer a brighter look. My question is , they want me to pick a base color for living room and hallways and another color…I think for kitchens and baths, so I was hoping you could tell me am I supposed to pick the lighter of the two for main area or the darker? I am interested in the white/gey/ biege combo. thanks if you are able to help!!
I’m so happy I found you! I have a question about painting an open floor plan home it’s hard to decide what colors I want to pick for this.
wheres the color?
Nice
👍👍👍
Loved your review and content. I appreciate your not sticking to any one manufacturer as well. That gives me an overall idea of what to look for, thanks🤔
I love Benjamin Moore Aura. It’s a true one coat paint
It’s probably my 3rd time watching this video but now the time has come and we start the renovation in 2 months.
Julie, could you recommend a nice white color for the ceiling from Benjamin Moore? I will follow your taste and experience and go for classic gray in the kitchen, dining room and probably hallway too.
Nobody probably noticed but I love your make up here! ☺️💗💕💓💞
Thank you for always answering my questions!!!
They had really help me a lot!!!!
How’s is sherwin Williams Emerald compare to Benjamin Moore?
& is Dimpse a color you can add to Any restroom
From wall to ceiling???
Hi Julie, I watched your video. Learned a lot but I can’t decide. I need your advice. I like warm relaxed feel in kitchen/ living area. I liked Pure white by SW( warm white this is what it looks to me)on my kitchen cabinets. I need your advice for a paint color on walls in family and kitchen area that goes well with pure white by SW and gives that warm welcoming feel. Floor is white oak. Also, for spice kitchen I would like bit darker color cabinets as the floor is white marble with subtle veins in it.
I love White Dove! I painted my entire first house with this color.
Hi Julie, please please please make a video about natural stones accent walls for interior and outdoor, where to put them. Just notice your background gorgeous natural stones. And I think I haven’t found any videos about tips how to put natural stones
What kind of white would you choose for a ceiling, true white or more grayish?
Which white would you recommend for ceilings?
Thank you so much for all this info…!!!
So helpful…!!!
Truly love all your content ❤️
Question when painting bathroom what should I look for the floor or shower walls???
I’m doing dark grey floor marble looking tiles for the shower walls…!!!!!
Thank you for your time!!!
Hello Julie! my name is Danielle and I love your work! I am building a home and I want to have a white kitchen with a natural light wood island. The range and hood are like a blue/grey "Provence Blue". I am debating about what while color would be the best for my gabinets and walls. I think the counters will be while?light color granite or quartz .
Need help chosing a paint color that is good for a living room as well as a dinning room that the floor tails are a light gray could you please give me some ideas
👍🏿
As a pro painter I would had adjusted some of your advises on the sheens particularly, but still great overall knowledge and useful advises!!! Constantly using most of your sherwin williams picks and some of benjamin moore.
Thank you for supporting the lower cost paints! For those of us on a budget we cannot afford the Farrow and Ball or Maybe even the Benjamin Moore paints. I do use them for smaller rooms or projects because the quality is so good. I have been using the Behr for years now and I can say the quality has gotten much better. I usually use the mid to upper range ones like the Marquee. I get quite good one coat coverage with mid tone colors. And the flats I have used are quite nice. There is a color called Poppyseed Black that I love, and many others. Like the warm and relaxing Warm White Wool. So I have repainted most of my interior in Behr and it is holding up quite well and is very scrubbable. I am an artist so I tend to lean towards more vibrant and warm earthy colors unless it is my studio where I like white walls so the Southern light from my window does not bounce a color off the walls and change the light onto my canvases… I don’t tend towards the dark blacks on a large scale as I don’t like the cave look. I reserve that for a theater room. I am too much of a light lover. Great tips! Thanks!
just subscribe love your channel
You are great, just wondering if you can give me tips on white kitchen cabinets and possibly blue cabinets in the bottom combo pretty plsss
Hi Julie, recently we have to repaint our entire first level due to a flood damage. We are thinking to use BM-Revere Pewter on the living room which is a room with lots of window and natural light. Adjunct to it , we have a kitchen area which has relatively few natural light. We are thinking to use a lighter color like classic gray to brighten up the dpace. Yet, we wonder if the two colors will be a good companion or not. Thanks for your video. It’s very educational.
Love your channel! I’m doing a art studio in my basement and I’m looking for a nice white colour from BM, I paint large blooms so there’s a lot of pinks in the paintings. What colour should I look at? Thanks 😊👩🎨
I love your videos! Definitely has improved my home decor. I did have a question:
Should you match the sheen on the walls when painting the ceiling the same as the walls? My painter suggested I paint it the same color but in a flat finish
Thank you. I love your content in your videos. I subscribed 🤩
I am planning to sell my home. I currently have yellow 💛 walls.
Should I paint in neutrals? Or is yellow a good choice. I have it in my kitchen and living room.
Need help with walk in closet please. Is there any advice for bugdet …. And is it better to do it our self or hire someone do it? Thanks
what are your thoughts on using Barbados Sand(BM1094) or Montgomery White (PM-26) as a main neutral color for walls and Antique Parchment BM959 for ceilings?
I was taught in Interior Design school almost 40 yrs ago never to paint bedrooms green – it gives the wrong cast to skin – I am considering a light sage for my bedroom now – your thoughts?
AGAIN so great, Julie, thank you!! So helpful when it comes to what types of paint and color to go with in each room. Your videos are so educational for those of us who are not in the interior design career. Our walls are currently all white and have been since we bought the house, need a change and uplift. Grateful, thank you.
Hello Julie, I found at minute 9:57 the combination of tiles for my bathroom and for which I have not been able to decide on the color because they are two such different shades. Could you help me choose the color of the vanity and the wall please, I’ve been trying to find those colors for days and I’m confused because I don’t know whether to look for the tone having the wall slab (grey) as a reference or the floor (beige / brown). Your recommendation will be a relief for me, thank you very much.
I’m so happy I found this. I am currently doing a make over to my living room dark wood beams and book shelf wall and trim is dark as well and I can’t decide between Sherwin Williams silverpointe or classic white for the walls but I at least now what finish l be getting. What would u pick
Hi Julie, I choose silky white for my walls from one of your videos and SuperCore flooring (Bay Breeze color). I want a contrast color for baseboards and door trims. I was think Behr Very Navy. What do you think? Is that too bold? Thank you.
