BEST Van Life Camping: Live Rent Free in a LTVA- Long Term Visitor Area

BEST Van Life Camping: Live Rent Free in a LTVA- Long Term Visitor Area

In today’s video we have the 7th in our series on cheap or free places to live as a nomad and learn all about Long Term Visitor Areas (LTVA). These are operated by the BLM in the deserts of Arizona and California and cost $180 but allow you to stay on them continuously for seven months (from September 15 to April 15). Beyond those dates, you have to leave, but the temperatures will be into the hundreds anyway. There are 7 LTVAs and some offer no services and some offer a dump station, a dumpster, and water.

BLM DOES NOT OWN THE LAND!
They MANAGE the land only! The land belongs to us citizens.
    It is Public land.

Saw a video the other day of concrete bunkers for sale in North Dakota, 35k for one. I loved the idea and the price but boy they have cold winters. Now I am thinking, the bunker in the summer, the place you showed in the winters.
    Hmmmm

Did you say they require people in vans or cars park within 500yds of a restroom? If that’s the case I would rather stay on federal land and risk being harassed by a ranger.

Thanks for making these wonderful and Inspiring videos

  11. James Smith on April 24, 2023 at 12:36 pm

All I ever see on these videos of boondocking etc is desert areas. I personally don’t like the desert, is there any videos of people boondocking in the mountains where there is trees and green grass?

  12. chrisDe Phil on April 24, 2023 at 12:37 pm

    Anything like that in Oregon?
    Thanks

Bob are there tent sites at this facility and is it safe for a solo female nomad?
or can you recommend a place to live rent free in a tent over winter in hiking distance to supplies? I can’t afford a vehicle & need to get through the next several months. Thx for any advice

THANKS, Bob! Watching your video in 2021! You’re so amazing at being thoroughly informative. Saw you in that Nomad Land movie too. You’re a natural actor, and that’s because you’re a REAL "nomad." I APPRECIATE you. I refer to you as the "Nomad Earth Angel." Hope to meet up with you in the near future. πŸ™πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ€— Mahalo!

  21. astrololee on April 24, 2023 at 12:47 pm

Dump Station (dry) may mean composted human waste maybe!

  22. Kiwi Gomes on April 24, 2023 at 12:47 pm

    Fantastic information! Thank you!

  23. Nola R on April 24, 2023 at 12:50 pm

Thank you so much for the informative video. I think I would prefer to camp out further. I am a former horse riding and camping person, so primitive camping is quite easy for me to adjust to. I am hoping to begin traveling in the next few months.

  24. TheRoamingGnomad on April 24, 2023 at 12:50 pm

Yeah I definately don’t want neighbors. The further I can go the better. I need peace and less of people’s unwanted drama, and an INFJ introvert. Although I have heard the Nomadic community could be very much to my liking. I dunno. Still without solar stuck in walmart parkinglots. πŸ™„

  25. Holy Science on April 24, 2023 at 12:50 pm

thank you for sharing sir! do you know any very cheap sites in Nevada?

  26. Nicholas Nasti on April 24, 2023 at 12:51 pm

Could one be far enough away from others to listen to loud music? I love my music.

  27. Kayla W on April 24, 2023 at 12:53 pm

Thank you Bob for making these videos. The more I watch, the more I want to live a nomadic lifestyle. I would need to stay on the east coast.

  28. Athena's Reality on April 24, 2023 at 12:54 pm

That’s why I remember not having to pay to camp anywhere. But then the Cabal controls our public lands now and takes money off the top!

  29. Amber Redd on April 24, 2023 at 12:54 pm

Thank you so very much for this.

  30. SFR SanFranciscoRider on April 24, 2023 at 12:55 pm

excellent video – very informative – what is potable water ?

  31. PEM503 on April 24, 2023 at 12:55 pm

Love your videos! Have watched dozens. This one strikes me as a bit confusing. Reconnecting with nature doesn’t happen 100 feet from a busy highway or surrounded by RVs…generators whining, dogs barking, people kicking up dust 20 feet from where I’m trying to read a book.

  32. RV Davy on April 24, 2023 at 12:55 pm

Why not think I will so I can connect my black tank to a for my black tank. I’d love to do that please tell me I can thank you.

  33. Follower Of Christ on April 24, 2023 at 12:56 pm

Can one dump there composted toilet (in bags) in the dump stations? I don’t know where else one would if u stayed there for the full 7 month duration?! Thx

  36. Paul Q on April 24, 2023 at 1:00 pm

Can you dump your tanks at dry or wet dumps?

  37. mary e. castellow on April 24, 2023 at 1:02 pm

    Are these areas still open?

  38. Dino Sanchez on April 24, 2023 at 1:03 pm

Do they check your tags or insurance?

  39. James Lane on April 24, 2023 at 1:05 pm

This is my favorite place. $180.00 you have access to all long term, see map. You can go probably four miles from the highway.

  40. Keenan Modica on April 24, 2023 at 1:06 pm

What is the difference between a dump station dry and wet?

  41. Donald Porter on April 24, 2023 at 1:06 pm

I assume you can get water and dump services to come out to you

  42. Southern Humor on April 24, 2023 at 1:08 pm

Can you tent camp at these LTVAs

  45. Noah Riding on April 24, 2023 at 1:11 pm

Do you have to be in an RV to use the LTVAs? And is there something up north in other states (also an LTVA) you could use on the other months that are too hot to be in these places? Thanks.

  46. Scott Lavoie on April 24, 2023 at 1:11 pm

I’m so ready to get out of this rat race! I’ve been watching your videos for a while now and researching this lifestyle and trying to figure out what type of rig I want. It’s nice to know that there are places like this out there to camp that’s so affordable. How about close to some old western ghost towns? I’d love to visit some old western ghost towns.

  47. Randy B'Ham on April 24, 2023 at 1:11 pm

In nomad camping do nudest group together and kinda block their view from other campers?

  48. Healthy Nutrition Snacks Channel on April 24, 2023 at 1:15 pm

This is so awesome. I did some research today on these places in Massachusetts. Didn’t find them.

  49. Teri on April 24, 2023 at 1:18 pm

This may have been reported already but be aware some of these places do not allow anything but a COMPLETELY self contained dwelling. At least one or two wont allow porta potties.
