The deep brown hue evident in traditional furniture comes through rich timbers of mahogany, cedar, fruitwood, and more.

These woods are present in timber floorboards, rich ceiling beams, doorways, wall panelling, and larger furniture pieces, and the type of wood you select can affect the style, value, and even the quality of the furniture.

I think just to see that our antique pieces or even just heirloom pieces can be updated and styled with more modern decor pieces to have updated look

    Simply GORGEOUS!

  5. Gina Crusco on September 6, 2022 at 2:28 am

Thanks for an interesting and educational video. The run-down of wood types and the chart of tones were helpful. Solid wood is easier to sand and re-stain than pieces with thin veneer. I don’t have any compunctions about painting the latter.

"Grounded by the browns" could be a great heading for this video. As used by one of your commentators below.

Despite trends, nothing comes close to the richness of quality wood furniture.

  17. Patricia Moran on September 6, 2022 at 2:46 am

I enjoy all of your videos, and this especially. Aside from the educational content, the music, your soothing voice, and the choices of photos is so relaxing to experience. Almost meditative. In a fast paced world, I feel that your method of delivery is so needed. Almost like sitting down with a friend and a pot of tea.

I couldn’t bring myself to paint over such beautiful furniture unless it was damaged. Love the content of this video, it inspired me to be more creative around these tones. Thank you🙏

  23. Teresa Emery on September 6, 2022 at 2:52 am

Beautiful! I also love dark rattan, but I have to love it in pictures. It’s too expensive now for regular people to own!

  24. Virginia Womack on September 6, 2022 at 2:53 am

There’s nothing more elegant and organic than the beauty of natural wood and I will never understand painting over it. Save the paint for cheap fake wood or pieces where the wood is damaged. Such a waste of a dwindling commodity.

Hello my dear friend. Once again, wasn’t connected for some reason. I had left my comments, perhaps you had seen! Lovely and ever so inspiring
    Thanks again! 🌹

  28. Gwen Wade on September 6, 2022 at 2:56 am

I weep for the woods ruined by instagram and youtube trends. The only basis for them being painted is the fear of the paintbrush wielder being seen to own anything vaguely yellow, orange or warm toned!!!! I hope Lonefox has the courage to bring warm into vogue. Praying for the antiques!!!!

  29. Jennifer wayesu proud kadama on September 6, 2022 at 2:56 am

Wow I love it so amazing very beautiful thanks so much my dear friend

  30. Gwen Wade on September 6, 2022 at 2:57 am

I recall Franco Zeffirelli, film producer, bleaching wood grey with horse urine for a specific grey colour for continuity of colour, etc etc on set. Now we have five coats of bleach painted on wood. More hygienic perhaps. Do we really need to stamp our ego on heritage finds?

I am so happy to see fine furniture featured here. I inherited and have purchased only fine hardwood furniture for my home. It looks fresh on the right surroundings and complimentary fabrics.

Loving your channel and especially this video as I have a home full of dark woods. But I would give my first born child (if I had one) to have that clothespin bench! Can it be purchased somewhere?

Hi Suzie, so many beautiful things and ideas in this video. I have Georgian style so now I can start mixing a bit more to elevate the look of my rooms. Haven’t seen burl that much lately but I do enjoy the pieces you show in this video. My grandma had this type of wood in her bedroom. As a child a was fascinated by the color and its grain. Thank you !!
