Camping Tip Of the Day! TRIPOD to Boil Water! #bushcraft #camlingtips #campingknots
Easy way to Lash 3 Poles of a Tripod.
I use this method to boil water in my pot.
It takes a few simple knots, the Clove hitch and half hitch mainly. And for hanging the pot you can either drop the cord down right to your pot wire, or carve a stick to use as a hanger.

Don’t colour grade too much.. doesn’t look good
I imagine myself making a tripod to hang a pot over a fire 🔥 that is surrounded by me and my friends. We would chant stupid things like ‘Uga chaka! Uga chaka!’ while dancing around the fire.
I need to remember this for my teepee
yeah real fuckin easy
You need to make that a lot tighter. Have a Cub Scout show you how.
Or you can find the nearest AirBnB and chill
the easiest way is over under but on top not under clove hitch… this is basic for scout in indonesia
If you take the middle pole and flip it once after it’s tied it’ll help the legs from swaying or twisting. Guess it’s not really necessary tho
That first hitch was not a clove hitch because you crossed over the line.
My respect and appreciation to you for your excellent instructional videos!!! Really simple and easy and just EXCELLENT! GREAT job brother!!!
Have you ever seen Bigfoot?
BSA handbook FTW
Saving all the tip, but all i travel is school and home😂
I have a wire that runs the length of my boat and I need to make it tight while I use another wire that extends the length and will be crimped together…
I love these videos..
Can anyone help? What knot allows me to keep applying pressure, it locks when I take the force away and then is easily pulled tighter again
nice rope..
Oh ok its a simple 17 step program
Too blurry focus
👍❤️
That’s just a sloppy figure eight lashing
That’s a good way but I like using a hoop then put all 3 legs in the hoop then twist the hoop with the center leg. Like a small teepee.
too much work
There’s three trees that won’t reproduce.
why not just use granny knot its only temporary
Make a prusik loop, slide it over the tips and flip the middle pole a few times. It will crank the lashing tight and hold.
How am I supposed to remember that
Also, you can flip the middle pole over a time or two to tighten everything up and make your tripod more sturdy. This is how I set up for making a Tipi with the first three support poles.
it’s wrapping and frapping
you don’t need a tripod lashings, you can do a simple overhand knot and twist one of the sticks 360°
Omg man, just take an Y shape branch and have another branch lean against one another.
That clove hitch was a timber hitch.
Back up that first clove hitch with a half hitch or it can roll out. But with that being said don’t use something that will melt over the fire. Just Saying
No Idea what he did, lost me at over under, over under lmao
What really pist me off about Brownies (pre Guides) is that there was really no skills developed on our patch reward tasks that learning knots would have been ingrained for life, I just remember wearing uncomfortable pointless unflattering uniform and feeling inadequate unless I was winning making a tiny terranium in a biscuit tin 🤔😩.. I hear they’ve realistically integrated / unisexed Cubs and scouts
There are several much easier ways to do this.
this guy locks his door by tying a knot
Cool beans!!! Thanks.
Very good to know how to fix it and use it when it’s necessary………….!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you don’t know what you are doing, don’t say anything!!!
I see a improvised t-pee shelter type deal. Maybe even start of a little smokehouse. Nice to have options, esp under stress and fatigue.
Hey, cool.
I just turn on the stove in my trailer and put a pot of water on it.
Didn’t know there was a technique for it, I just did it the janky way where you just loop it around all three
There’s an easy way…
Start with a clove….
Too hard already.
In the scouts we were taught to have the poles all pressed next to each other and to do 3 frappjng turns each and always keep the tension
,🇵🇬🇵🇬
thank you
Now build a teepee and start procreating with the natives.
Not a clove hitch, the tails of both ends of the cord come out of the middle on both sides to be a clove hitch. But ultimately I could get a Cub Scout to do a better job of lashing 3 poles !
Build a fire in order to be able to cook over the fire. Much easier.
