The current rate of acquisition can not be maintained without some catastrophic results to the industry.

I’m here to call bullshit on all the naysayers. Most of you are just repeating the popular story line that Camping World is crap. Here is my experience with Camping World:

In 2019, I bought a New 2020 Flagstaff Microlite 25fks. The MSRP was over $31k. My ‘out the door’ price was $27,800, which included a weight distribution/sway control hitch (installed, adjusted, and training on how to use it), a brake controller (installed in my truck and training on how to use it), sales tax, plus tag and title fees. We also got three nights of free camping in their campground, adjacent to their service center, with the opportunity to have them fix any problems or explain any systems we didn’t understand. They fully delivered on their promises, fixing a few minor issues we had, like LED lights that wouldn’t come on. They replaced them, free of charge with zero questions or hassle. They took time to answer all of our questions. We had access to their store, where everyone was friendly and helpful. They gave us military discounts on purchases on top of our Good Sam’s discounts. They handled returned items joyfully with no hassles. Every time we have been there, we have been treated great and the staff is very warm and friendly. This was at the Tom Johnson’s Camping World in Marion, NC.

Several years earlier, we bought a new camper from a nearby competitor and our experience with them was a complete nightmare. It’s too long of a story to tell, but what really burned my ass the most was, we used their storage yard, and they were picking parts from our brand new camper to fix other campers, plus some of their employees were using it as a lounge to hang out in, and I suspected they were even taking it camping, because everytime we went to the lot, the camper appeared to be more used with more wear, damages, and missing or replaced items of lesser quality or condition. Then the bastards had the nerve to look us in the eyes and deny it all. We proved them wrong with the many pictures we took. They eventually fixed and replaced some things so we wouldn’t sue them in court.

I never had any issues like this with Camping World. They have been completely fair and professional.

  7. Momo on June 30, 2021 at 2:29 am

We once blew a tire on our RV on a dangerous mountain pass. We ended up getting towed to the nearest camping world for some reason. My boyfriends mom was saying they’re the only place in town that works on RVs.
We had a guy come assess the work. He said it would take at least 10 hours just to DIAGNOSE the problem. Knowing their hourly rate, it would have costed around $10,000.
We only spent $4500 on our rig! We could have bought two more motor homes with that kinda money.
    Camping world is absolute scum.
We got our tire fixed at a local repair shop for like $1800.
    NEVER GO TO CAMPING WORLD!

    Camping world sucks

  10. K A on June 30, 2021 at 2:32 am

Their business model is to get one time customers then have you disappear

  11. Harald Weltzin on June 30, 2021 at 2:32 am

Im seriously questioning if I will ever bring my Class A Thor Ace back to Camping World again after I brought it in to have the battery charger repaired and ended up spending $4500 to have the slide out repaired after they opened the slide out without removing the lock, bending the mechanism. The battery charger that needed repairing was on the opposite side of the RV and didn’t need to disturb the slide out.

  12. Paul Armour on June 30, 2021 at 2:32 am

  14. Jay R Pyne on June 30, 2021 at 2:33 am

I have never had a good experience with Camping World. I wasn’t looking for a investment I was looking for service and that was poor. That was the issue … poor service. Namaste Jay

  15. Ron Simons on June 30, 2021 at 2:34 am

The best campers can do together is to see that Camping world is crushed financially. repulsive business.

  16. bob stuerke on June 30, 2021 at 2:35 am

Worst place to waste your money is camping world. It was nice of them to sponsor you for this ad.

  17. Paul Nubreu on June 30, 2021 at 2:37 am

Camping World is dead to good Americans.

  18. Tony Rodgers on June 30, 2021 at 2:38 am

JASON – I’ve experienced the “bad” from Camping World having bought a new 2020 travel trailer from the RV giant. But after my last two encounters with them the difference is like daylight and dark. Still holding my breath but what I was told just a week ago from my CW service center makes me think totally different toward them. If this continues I could feed you some first person experience from this “change” I am experiencing.

  19. Tuvia A on June 30, 2021 at 2:40 am

Monopolies and greed. Screw the service. Not surprising people don’t like them. Sad story actually.

  20. rae1957tn on June 30, 2021 at 2:41 am

They are the worst they really don’t care about their customers. Sure book your service and expect it to take at least 6 months.

  21. Hannah Shepherd on June 30, 2021 at 2:41 am

Thank you so much Jason. I don’t own an RV yet but you’re giving me very valuable information.

  22. Jack Tyler on June 30, 2021 at 2:41 am

Thanks, once again. We’ve never even seen a CW store, yet their (poor) reputation seems ever-present while we RV. Your industry videos have been much appreciated, as we’re otherwise too insulated from that kind of news. And your national parks Centenary story remains a highlight for me. You’re clearly filling a RV info niche.

  23. Don Rode on June 30, 2021 at 2:43 am

The worst RV buying experience ever at Gander RV aka CW. Stay away from these arrogant, unprofessional losers. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

  24. jeromep on June 30, 2021 at 2:45 am

Shop local! If you have a local RV dealer, local RV service center, local RV parts seller, use them. I shop with a local and the best part of it is becoming a “regular” getting a rapport with the staff and owners and knowing that your rig and equipment is in good hands when you leave it with them. Don’t be surprised that Camping World has become so dominant. Just look at Wal-Mart and all the other major retailers and how much retail has changed in the last 30 years. Just look at what governments has done in the past 9 months, basically handing commerce to large businesses and screwing over the small business. The only way to combat this is to shop local.

  25. Jeremy Walker on June 30, 2021 at 2:49 am

"More and more dealerships" when we really need more and more campgrounds.

  26. Cyrus33x on June 30, 2021 at 2:53 am

Here in TX, Explorerusa RV stores have great customer service which includes the service department.

Got more insight and information from the comments section than the video. I trust these are mostly true so you can scratch my name off the list of potential customers.

  35. sean D on June 30, 2021 at 3:10 am

  37. MiKe on June 30, 2021 at 3:12 am

Hey man love your channel, however you need to do more homework. This part place you speak of I know they are 2 yeas behind in warranty work parts They can barley keep up with manufacturing toilets for companies. Camping world will never be at a place you think they should be. They are as crooked as they come. I would not even give them the time of day on your channel.

  38. Vincent Thouin on June 30, 2021 at 3:13 am

Quality control sucks in the RV industry. If one factory decided to improve their quality control before shipping the units to dealership it would go a long way for that company. Unfortunately, this RV industry doesn’t seem to care about its customers.

  39. the oldman on June 30, 2021 at 3:13 am

I was one of the victim of CW here in Lake City fl.
Do not buy in this store, they don’t care about you they just want you money

  40. Robert Wilson on June 30, 2021 at 3:16 am

I use White Sands RV in Robertsdale Alabama for service work…they are fantastic and not far from The Camping World dealership which sucks wet dog fur !!

  41. Steve Fury on June 30, 2021 at 3:16 am

Friends don’t let friends buy from Camping World.
We did a lot of preliminary research before buying our first RV in 2018. We decided to give CW a chance despite the bad press.
We went to Camping World in Oakwood GA and spent about 45 minutes going through various 5th wheels.

The salesman brought us back into the store and asked us to buy an insurance policy for *any* rig on the lot regardless of what it is, so he can get paid for his time with us. He said we can "Just do a chargeback on the card". Needless to say we ran out of there fast as we could.
4 months later we bought our first travel trailer from one of their compeditors.

We were in the market to upgrade to something bigger last spring (2020).
The closest RV dealer to us is Gander RV (CW) and got very interested in a diesel pusher.
We thought the CW problem we had in Oakwood might just be isolated to that dealer.

Gander said they needed to run 2 credit checks so I made a huge mistake letting them do so. My credit at the time among the 3 bureaus was around 780.
Instead of running 2 credit applications they ran 12. Yes, twelve!
I have since heard that’s an old car sales scam to ruin your credit so you can only work with them, on their approved lender. Trapping you with them since now your credit is ruined.
Sure enough my credit dropped to around 720!

We bought a new Grand Design Solitude the following month (March) from a different dealer. We got a fair deal using my wife’s credit report.
–> Friends don’t let friends buy from Camping World.

They are going to do what every business does. They are going to over expand burn their cash and probably add debt. Then a down turn in the business will occur and they will end up shutting stores and laying off people. Same old story of business run bad.

  43. Trxxx Carter on June 30, 2021 at 3:19 am

Who cares? Camping world sucks. The training sucks so their employees suck & getting parts from them sucks!

  44. Skunkus Amongus on June 30, 2021 at 3:19 am

    ⚠️ BUYER BEWARE ⚠️
If you WANT MORE STRESS in your life. BUY an RV!
    Especially a brand new one.
    Get educated on older units.
I left the RV industry because I was TOLD to lie to customers on a daily basis.
    Good Luck.

  45. Judith Blinkenberg on June 30, 2021 at 3:20 am

Most RVs are made badly with staples instead of screws. Our top siding has fallen off.

  46. Brenda Baker on June 30, 2021 at 3:20 am

I ordered ac parts in September and it said delivery 3-5 days and it took 2 months and didn’t work either

  47. Gregory Perkins on June 30, 2021 at 3:21 am

45% prodit on used units means they are ripping off people.

  48. Riker 6305 on June 30, 2021 at 3:21 am

I purchased Motorhomes from both Camping World and General RV and General RV is a 100 times worse in my opinion

  49. Beth Marie Householder on June 30, 2021 at 3:22 am
