Choosing the best layout for my small studio apartment | my ikea sofa is IN THE WAY!

I’m changing up my small nyc studio layout to see what other options I have to maximize my space. I have an l shaped studio, or alcove, which gives me a little nook for my sleeping space. I pretty much bought my furniture based off where it could fit in my small studio but I was curious if there were better ways to organize it. Maybe it’s just me, but having a couch in the center of the space looks SO odd to me! haha Let me know what you guys think I could’ve done instead. I always recommend trying new layouts so you feel refreshed in your space. AND always consider furniture that is easy to move!

Great studio. It looks like your desk would be better placed against the wall where your mirror currently is. And adding renter friendly shelving above it to help declutter.

Wish I had found a place like yours! I almost did but it slipped out of my hands. I live in Queens and have one of those rectangular open studios you described. But my bed is set off by a KALLAX 4×4 as a room divider. I have no where the amount of floor space you have as a result.😩

Like the new layout and an area rug in the same space would make it much better.

Great video! I like the couch in the final set up. I would move the desk on the other side of the tv (near dining table) and push the tv console in the spot where the desk was originally.

The final lay out really works! I like the couch where you’ve put it ( it looks like a really comfortable couch ) and I think it actually helps define the space even further with the living room being it’s own space, the bed being its own space. Definitely, the bed looks best in the alcove – – would not change that at all…… that’s what makes your apartment work – – the bed having its own alcove space. All in all, I think its great! Oh, also, you could even get a small end table for your couch and put a cozy lamp there to really help further define the space as "living room." : )

Find yourself a friend that has good design sense to help you. Your place is super cluttered and boring, no matter how you arrange the furniture.

Its better where u have it at the end, the couch against the wall looked weird, i would have moved the couch closer to the foot of the bed , it wouldn’t hurt to by an extension cord to move the TV a big more to the left

🙁 I don’t know either, I’m having the same issue with my 358sq foot space. and mine is a box so still moving stuff around. Your original was better.

  15. Slavocean on October 5, 2022 at 7:04 am

Girl, I need those chairs but they aren’t available any more 😭😭😭

  16. Whitney McIntosh-Joseph on October 5, 2022 at 7:04 am

I love the final placement! It’s nice to be able to watch the tv from the couch or the bed (if you’re not feeling well or something). Love what you’ve done with the walk-in too!

It’s giving Carry Bradshaw NYC Apartment, especially the closet + bathroom 😍

Final layout was good. I change up my apartment a lot😅 one of those stress relieving things. If u ever wanna change yours again, move the table to the opposite side. Basically moving the couch, in the way it’s in now but to the wall. Then the tv in front of it. Your table in front of the bed (the space where the couch is now) swap your mirror and makeup desk just so u have better and natural lighting for doing your makeup. Your chest of drawers maybe where the tv is right now?🤔 should give u more space for practicing I hope🫣
You have a great place beautiful!N I love that couch

Bed definitely needs to be where you originally had it. I liked where you moved the couch, I think it was a big change but one you would have gotten used to. Such a nice, bright apartment.

  20. Gail Staton on October 5, 2022 at 7:10 am

I prefer the couch like the layout shows it. Keep your bedroom in the alcove and your table and chairs and TV where they were. Things seem a little cluttered to me and too many little pieces sitting on top of your furniture Declutter and play around with the placement of your other pieces. Doing this will make the apartment look bigger. Hope this helps.

  21. Barbara Sydnor Cross on October 5, 2022 at 7:13 am

It makes way more sense like you had it in the end. The couch being in front of the tv. If and when you leave it and get use to it. You will see it makes more sense.

  22. Trudy's English Victorian Home Decor on October 5, 2022 at 7:16 am

I like the final set the best.😊 What I would do, is add a nice area rug to define the space. I love that you played around with so many options. It was neat to see 🤗

  23. REA on October 5, 2022 at 7:18 am

I love you space! However, I would have put the couch in the area where your bed was, but facing the wall not against. Then push the couch right against the window, creating a faux separation between rooms. After that, I would have mounted the tv on the wall your bed is on, creating floor space. It would be a cozy section for a living room space.

For the bed, I would put it on the wall facing your dining table, in the corner. That way if you still want to watch tv from your bed, you could.

I hope I was easy to understand! I move into my own place in October and would love for a sub! 😌
