I really want a rug for under my bed and have full size bed but due to area , can’t fit an 8×10

  2. Kelly Hernandez on August 23, 2022 at 4:34 am

The info on materials and care was really helpful. A sourcing guide would be great! I’ve been hunting for a large (10×13 or 11×14) living room rug and it’s been a challenge to find a style, material, price and size wanted. Specifically I’m curious about wool Moroccan, Turkish, Aztec type styles in neutrals but I’ll be replacing more rugs soon so any sourcing info would be valuable.

Thank you Julie for another great video! I am currently in the process of replacing my formal dining and living room rugs(I am tired of them), but I have put it off since I would have to re-paint and hang new art that would be cohesive with the new rug. Right now everything blends well together… So I am stumped. The videos help. So I may tackle this in the Summer. The dining room table is heavy though and will be a bugger to move. So part of the reason for the delay. I too buy the rug first and then paint… Easier to do this then find the perfect affordable rug that works with the design style. 😊

My husband and I argued with the rugs coz we have two big rugs and he don’t want to used it his reason not to cover the tiled floor! He wants the small rug only just enough for the coffee table! I shared him a videos about the rules of area rugs but insisting of what he wants!

  8. Sophia Coward on August 23, 2022 at 4:40 am

What about area rugs when it comes to over age 65 and they become a tripping hazard, but you don’t want to walk on bare surfaces. So many older people have to wear shoes all the time because of feet problems and tripping over corners or edges of carpeting is a big problem. Any solutions other than taking them up?

How do you feel about "Ruggable" Rugs? I have pets and love the idea I can just toss them into the washer. Every rug I have had it seems my chihuahua has an accident on it and it becomes expensive to have it professionally cleaned all the time.

  13. Pam Dubier on August 23, 2022 at 4:49 am

    OMG- Congratulations.

  14. KBS on August 23, 2022 at 4:53 am

This video was super helpful Julie! And practical. No rug in the dining room. One subject that I struggled with a corner fire place for a few years. It’s located in a small (about 13 X 14 ft) open-concept living room with hard wood flooring. I used overlapping identical circular rugs, which actually was ok for a while. Last year, I had carpeting store professionals make one that defined the seating area, and that corner fireplace. It wasn’t nearly as expensive as I imagined–less than $1500 with padding. My stress level is less too. : ) An expense for sure, but ok if I stay a long while in my house ; and some options if it’s in good condition when moving. Sell to new buyer, or someone in neighborhood with same floor plan.

  15. Renuka Subba on August 23, 2022 at 4:54 am

would you still recommend the rugs in dinning, living, and rooms if you have dogs that sheds a lot? Also can we hang the personal picture on the dining room wall?

  16. grace3726 on August 23, 2022 at 4:56 am

Right, I am going to exchange the rug for our entry ^^

  17. Mary Gen Davies on August 23, 2022 at 4:57 am

I have a low-pile rug in my dining room and thought if I got a rug pad it would make it difficult to slide the chairs in & out… But I also want to protect my newly refinished hardwood floors! Should I get the thinnest rug pad I can find for it or just skip it?

  18. Iw W on August 23, 2022 at 4:57 am

    Great details and information.
    Congratulations 🌷

  20. Proverb31Tab on August 23, 2022 at 4:58 am

Watching this video after purchasing matching rugs for my open concept living, sitting and dining areas 😩

  21. Swati S on August 23, 2022 at 4:59 am

If one does not find a big enough rug for the living room, would it be ok to buy two of the same rugs and place them together to make it seem bigger?

  22. Pat Schilling on August 23, 2022 at 4:59 am

I don’t like carpet.. it collects so much hair and dust with our pets..installed all new flooring and so happy to be rid of carpet

Julie this is a great video. My particular problem we are moving into a home that has heated floors. Will I still be able to use area rugs?

  25. J S on August 23, 2022 at 5:05 am

thank you!! i have an open space and already have a beautiful area rug in the living room that im obsessed with…so obsessed that I almost checked out my Amazon cart which contained a second rug for my dining room. Right before placing the order I decided to come to Youtube and see what designers say about such move; I just knew something was questionable about having the same rug for the living room and dining room in an open space. Thank you!

Totally agree with yr motto – Buy well, cry once.
I spent thousands of dollars on a silk Persian rug for the living room…over the past 10 years, it has maintained its rich colours and luxurious feel, totally justifying its cost. Actually, it is surprisingly tough (so I wouldn’t just confine silk carpets to decorating the wall). And of course, nothing compares to the feel of soft, smooth silk on your bare feet!

i moved into apartment with ugly high pile brown carpet. Yuck I am considering removing it and replacing it. I have not been able to decorate with this ugly rug

  31. Adrienne Boullianne on August 23, 2022 at 5:11 am

years ago, i bought a thick zebra striped rug from builder’s square at an unbelievable price. probably one of the best home purchases i ever made. i have a few other beautiful large area rugs that i keep rolled up and every few years i resurrect them, and switch them out, b/c theyre timeless and i still love them! i also swap out the rugs with other rooms if i start getting bored with the look. it works for me. thanks for the useful tips, jk!
