How bout whatever happened to candy from the 80s? Topps candy containers, Tart n Tiny’s, Shock Tarts, Gatorade gum, Bazooka gum with comic wrappers, Brachs chocolates with the colorful foiled wrappers, etc..

Haha too late, a few months back I got a matching 3 piece set with the toilet contour floor rug, main floor rug & what rly takes me back to the 80’s: the toilet seat lid cover! 😁I really wanted the tank lid cover too, but had no luck finding one of those in same shade….Crazy though yea, carpets were everywhere then & they’re so rare nowadays….Waterbeds, I wanted one SO bad when I was a kid. My aunt who passed away last year had one in the 80’s & I have great memories of playing Atari on it in her room after swimming in the pool over my Grandparents’ house who are also gone. You know I think I’m crazy sometimes, but great to see other ppl out there share my huge fondness & nostalgia for that decade. It’d take me hours to sit here & list all the vintage & 80’s influenced items I own at my place, for my vehicle & even in my wardrobe that I wear in present day lol

German 80s houses are pretty different i guess , but I miss that time too somehow. We got kind of rustical style in typical 80s bungalows, with open fireplaces, pewterplates on the walls, wrought iron+copper lamps, blackwooded design elements with white roughcast. Remeber a friends house livingroom in that style, when we played with masters figures on the floor. But I also miss the mediteran style and feeling of that time when we visited italy, spain and greece as kids. By the way we also had television in the kitchen, my mother always used to say " like in America"

Back in the 80’s my Dad had a little TV from his batchler days in the 70’s that he kept and we had the TV in the kitchen. We had a bay window with a deep shelf that was probably ment for house plants and/or knick knacks but we had his TV on the window shelf and our pet birds’s bird cage. We had a microwave in the corner of the kitchen counter.

Been waiting on this one since you announced it. Theres something magical about the picture you used for the thumbnail. I really wish I could find a house like this untouched by time . Keep up the great work brother .

I miss the sleek 80’s entertainment center, that was considered high-tech at that time..for example, in the movie Like father Like son with Kirk Cameron and Dudley Moore..remember their house..

When you spoke of TVs and microwaves, I realized what I missed the most is appliances and electronics that lasted for years and years, we don’t get that anymore.

Not a fan of carpet at all. Its just gross. They are magnet for bacteria, germs, dead skin, urine, and dirt. I remember as a kid that we didn’t even take off our shoes before entering the house…tracking dog poop and other nastiness into the house.

Cool topic! We had a 13 inch tv on top of the fridge. It was easy to have tv’s all over the place back when all you needed was coax to run your tv’s instead of some stupid cable box for each one that you have to rent from a provider. You know what? I have several HD tv’s now, but I thought the standard broadcast on the old tv’s looked just fine. Of course, it was great having a tv in the kitchen when the shows were actually good, unlike today. Now I’m just being negative, sorry lol. I’ll just say I loved those simpler times in the 80’s. Great video.

Does anyone remember how built up, the beds and the 80s were? Not just the crazy waterbed, but the bed itself, box spring, bed skirt, bottom sheet, top sheet, comforter, spread, sleeping pillows, pillows for decoration, shams, possible canopy, what did I miss?

  20. Mike D on May 14, 2022 at 7:59 pm

    Yes! Love it! 🙂

You raise a great point Jason, whatever happened to sitting on the floor. I played on the floor, watched tv on the floor, ate on the floor, fell asleep on the floor.. couldn’t tell you the last time I sat on the floor these days!

I miss the rotary telephone that had that coiled cable that you could stretch about 20 feet so you could sit in hallway closet to call a girl for the first time.

I relate to everything you said.. I was born in 82. My mom was a stay at home mom and she was in the kitchen a lot. I miss everything about it. I still live in the past, I watch super Mario bros super show all the time and play my NES. I’m pretty sure I was the first one ever to beat Final Fantasy when it first came out. I had pink carpet in my bedroom. I still remember it like It was yesterday. I miss it so much.

I miss carpet and the TV on the floor CONSTANTLY

  31. Seiferboy Gaming on May 14, 2022 at 8:17 pm

I have one of those TVs that would go in the kitchen. It’s in my bedroom, though, pretty much as a decor piece on my shelf. It’s a TV/radio combo. My house, built in the late 90s, had carpet in the bathrooms. The carpet in mine was torn out and laminate was put in its place. The master bath still has carpet, though. My kitchen has the blonde wood cabinets, though, they’re actually that cheap laminate stuff. Still looks like the 80s, though! I never had the console TV nor the waterbed, but my aunt had both. She and my grandma still has their console TVs, but they don’t work. They’re used as either a TV stand, or an extra table with a sheet over it. I want one of those, even if it’s broken. I still have my 80s TV, which broke sometime in the mid-2000s. I’ve had it since I was a toddler. I plan on taking the inside out and using the shell as a diorama for my action figures. My aunt had a waterbed, but I only got to lay on it a few times. It was still cool, though!

My grandma literally use to have an 80s style house with a floor t.v. and everything even the 80s microwave and rotary phone I know how to work rotary phones cause my grandma taught me how. My grandma would put on VHS tapes of the Flintstones and tom and jerry or turn on boomerang and watch scooby doo, yogi bear, loony toons, smerfs, and jonny quest. I use to spend a lot of time there when my parents still lived in a trailer she was the park manager back in those days and my mom would drop me off so my parents could go to work I also kept getting sick due to being a premature baby my imunsystem was behind so my parents couldn’t leave me in a day care. Then as I got older we got a house but I still visted at my grandma’s after school. Now a days tho she moved in with her husband and now owns none of that except for her floor tv in her up stairs office. I’m making my room in this 80s style cause I truly do miss it. It’s all about comfort and the smell of wood is just awsome.
