I have central air but like my bedroom cooler and may just want it on in my bedroom but no the rest of the house etc. do you use a dust ruffle on a bed? how do you dress a bed that got a bed pillow? Love your split screen its the only way I can see the differencees

I totally agree with all five but I skipped a rug/carpet altogether because of both young kids and dog. The room is small enough that I don’t miss it. Would love a 5 things for the dining room.

  18. Tiffany Perez-Smith on April 8, 2023 at 8:11 am

What about an area rug in a wall to wall carpet already? Especially if they carpet is high end and plush?

  19. Jerri Dorr on April 8, 2023 at 8:15 am

I am going to be selling my new leather sofa as too big and I want a dining room. You are so in my head saying this doesn’t fit get rid of it lol. But I really want a dining area in my studio. I think I am going to get 4 barrel chairs with some kind of fabric ottoman/coffee table. I will have to use floor lamps as I have no overhead lights. I do have a 8 x 10 area rug that will take care of my new seating and dining

    Julie, you ara AHHHMAZING!

I love your channel, and you are, by far, the best "teacher" in Interior Design on youtube. Also like Norma Bates mentions, the pictures (with your explanations) makes it all so simple and easy to understand.
    Congrats!!! Keep the great work!

Had to laugh when you mentioned the day care feel and the living room not feeling complete without an area rug. Enjoyed this video, as with ALL your videos. I really enjoy you too, Julie. <3

  30. David Boeger on April 8, 2023 at 8:30 am

Oh my gosh, as new parents, we also replaced our area rug with a rubber play mat! I can’t wait for our baby to outgrow it.

  31. Randal Davis on April 8, 2023 at 8:32 am

Can you put an area rug over carpet and the rules for area rugs the same?

  32. Malou Cornelissen on April 8, 2023 at 8:33 am

    Thanks for sharing this Julie

  33. lina martinez on April 8, 2023 at 8:34 am

If I give you the floor plan of my new home living room, can you implement the pieces of furniture to accommodate such space? More particularly, living room and bedroom. Confused because fireplace in the living room is a walkway to the slider doors to backyard. Sofas would be so far back to view TV (mount there already) above fireplace. Thanks

  34. Nicholas Oliko on April 8, 2023 at 8:34 am

Very impressive ❤️. Those are wonderfully designed living rooms

  35. LaHoma Johnson on April 8, 2023 at 8:34 am

  37. William Wade on April 8, 2023 at 8:35 am

I love what this woman does and I’m a subscriber, I just would like her to spend some time in a foot of snow and sub zero temperatures to expand her style. She’s just too warm weather.

  38. Barbara Geiger on April 8, 2023 at 8:36 am

Enjoyed I agree with the list

  39. J Shahani on April 8, 2023 at 8:37 am

Hi Julie, I have recently started to follow your videos, they are super helpful. Thank you and keep up the amazing work 🙂 I have a stupid question- can I place a console table in front of a large floor mirror ? The alternate could be console and a wall hung mirror of course .. would appreciate your guidance and thoughts … best, J

Our home is not as big and fancy as the sample photos shown on this video.. could you please share anything that would be a good fit for smaller homes?

  41. Margaret Judice on April 8, 2023 at 8:38 am

Great ideas in this video. I agree with you. For me, I always have blankets in my recliner for the dog and I. I need to work on the living room. Thank you for sharing!

  42. Libby Andrews on April 8, 2023 at 8:39 am

So interesting! Our living rooms have always been the least used and usually only used for holidays!

  43. TIgre on April 8, 2023 at 8:40 am

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect sofa to replace my ugly brown one (husband bought it). And I have been taking my time hunting. But in the meantime, I purchased a velvety stretchy dusty blue slipcover. I was really pleasantly surprised at the look and fit of it. It completely covers every inch of the sofa and tucks into the sides of each cushion. I know how people feel about slipcovers. But this one really doesn’t look like one. Now, I feel like I can take my time to find the perfect sofa. Also want a new, larger area rug.

  44. Jenesis on April 8, 2023 at 8:41 am

My living room is 24×15. The half by the door is my yoga/workout area. The inside half I set up stereo system but no TV. I have a projection screen when I do want to watch on big screen I’d hook up my ipad.

  45. Jeannie Staller on April 8, 2023 at 8:41 am

We haven’t had a coffee table for years. It’s just one more thing to stub my toe on. We also like to have some open space to dance or exercise. It’s also hard to vacuum around. I would like to get some nesting tables that slide flush with the furniture and can be pulled out and pushed in as needed.

  46. Julie Khuu on April 8, 2023 at 8:45 am

I believe the conversation/ seating area is the MOST important factor when it comes to setting up the living room. Get the scale right, the proportions correct, choose the most comfortable support you can find and the rest will come easy. Agree or disagree?

  47. Debbie Zullo on April 8, 2023 at 8:46 am

    Totally agree ❤️
