DIY Camper Van 4×4 Conversion Built for Full Time living – Primal Outdoors Walk Thru
I met Jason from Primal Outdoors almost 2 years ago when this van was almost bone stock, 2wd, with an empty interior. It has certainly come a long way since then as his full time home on wheels. What do you think?

Awesome video Phil
I love the community that Phil captures here, networking with other freespirited overlanders. Its great!
Good looking rig. Thanks for showing us around. ππ½ππ½ππ½ππ½ππ½ππ½
The only thing, and I mean the only thing I’d do different is get that solar equip away from the bed. Get an EMF reader near that stuff and you’ll see what I mean. I’d have at least 2-3 feet between or get it blocked / boxed in. Awesome rig in every other way, will check out his channel.
Love seeing all my favorite overlanders sharing and sending time together, meeting up, lovin’ life. I hope to meet each of you on the trail someday too!
Cool van good stufff
Does this dude have a YouTube or IG/FB account? The bushcraft/hunting cabin thing is right up my alley.
Haha, totally forgot that you did a walk around on the van. Looking forward to the next adventure.
Jason
Great video Phil
Superkool
Incredible Van Build! After watching this video, l think I figured out what I want for my end exploring vehicle. Thank you for sharing an awesome project.

I think I met this guy in Bonney Lake, Washington
Just subscribed to his channel through softroadingthewest
Where is this and why are there so many people there?
Great build, owned a couple of Dodge B300 4×4 with a Pathfinder- and Quigley-conversions. Greetings from the Netherlands
Hello. Have a safe blessed day! ππ½ππ½ππ½ππ½ππ½ππ½
Phil, βMy camper is going to be way smaller than this vanβπ¬π¬π¬
His rig is awesome
I always appreciate the DIY builds. Everyone is always so creative and it give me lots of cool new ideas on how to better change my rig!!
Nice. π
It’s cool I watch all 3 of you guys. I was happy when Jason upgraded to the van. Such a better rig than his old truck. Cant wait to see some more cool adventures.
That’s some serious homelessness
Nice Job but why is that everyone puts their bed at the back? I’m in the middle of putting a 85 Chevy Astro on a 87 GMC Somona 4wd long bed frame and I’m going to reverse the floor plan. I’m putting the bed in front the up by the front seat to have it more in the middle for center of gravity plus it gives me more useable floor space in the rear to store gear for easy access. I found a dresser and 2 night stands at a garage sale, I’m using the night stands to build the platform for my bed and the dresser I’m going to cut down as shelf for my microwave and 9 function air fryer/oven and food storage. My is to use it as a camper/fishing rig on the weekends and vacations. I live in Northwest Arizona an hour North of Lake Havasu and just want something that sit up a lil high that I can take down to the lake for the weekend or up to the Grand Canyon, over to the Tonto National Park, Salton Sea in California or up to Lake Tahoe for a few days. I don’t plan on taking it off road much but when I do I want to able to. I was originally looking for a bigger van but this one along with the S10 was sitting behind the family barn and was free, you can’t beat free.
This is damn impressive I owned 1 2019 Chevrolet Express model 3500 LT Extended. I converted it to a camper and sold it when the opportunity arrived. I knew I wanted to build another van that could be an AWD. I hope to some day
Always love checking out DIY builds….WAY better than the cookie cutter stuff out there. Nice work on the rig, Jason!
Great tour. thanks for sharing!
Coyote Works too? Quite a group gathered there!
Great work !!!
That’s nice!
Sweet. Two of my favorite channels together.
