I decorated my porch today. It’s a summer /sunflower theme. We love tropical but I have that theme on my back porch. We live way out in the country and have a big front porch, it’s what sold us on this little country home, we came from a big suburban home and were ready for a change. I suffer with health issues and since our move 4 years ago I have not been able to get my house in order. This year my goal is to make our home inviting and organized, so far I’m making progress. The porch will make a huge difference. Planning to do a few more things tomorrow out there. It just feels so good to come home and pull into a driveway of a beautiful decorated porch. I’ve always loved porches. And every year for as long as I can remember I have done a few improvements in the springtime. I picked a sunflower theme because my daughter is grown up and has her own home in Florida. She grew sunflowers as a child. So I told her the porch has beautiful sunflower like she used to grow. And now there is a sweet reminder of my daughter every time I see the porch. And she can feel like our family home is still her home. I sure miss her! Your porch make over is so nice! It’s everything I love. My husband and I are more traditional. We bought a contemporary sectional sofa and I was worried we couldn’t blend it with our traditional style. But we did. I think next time I’ll stick with traditional furnishings. They are my favorite! Thank you for sharing. You got a steal on the light fixture. My husband and father are electricians so I know how expensive they really are. Take care and enjoy your Florida home. Leslye

I watch a lot of diy videos. You are the most well-rounded person I have ever watched. You are so real but with class. You are not afraid to laugh at yourself. Your projects are top-notch. Context of me: I am a mother of four grow children that are married, all with kids. You can tell you do things with excellence.

Why do people put up signs that say “Home” “Kitchen” “Laundry”? Do people forget where they are? Why aren’t they wearing shirts that say “Human” or signs on their minivan that say “Van”? Seems odd.

  18. Gaye MarianesFox on October 31, 2021 at 10:41 am

Distressing makes my husband nervous! He doesn’t like the idea of messing up his nice paint job!

Hi NataLee and welcome to Florida! Just subscribed to your channel. I have a tip for you. Any florals used outside I lightly spray with acrylic sealer. It will keep your flowers from drooping due to humidity, fading from the sun, and dirt will rinse right off. You are my 1 stop crafter. I am 67 years and still enjoy decorating. I also sew and let’s just say 20 years ago I got the power tools in the divorce. Still using them. LOL

Something we did on our double door entry, my husband just put a screw on each door where a wreath would lay. It’s a very clean look. Your entry looks great! I wish I could find those topiaries!

  50. Carole White on October 31, 2021 at 11:16 am

Looks so inviting and cosy! Love love that light fixture!! RE distressing…I personally go just lightly in the obvious places, since I’m not a fan of heavy distressing but like you, get a bit hesitant to rough up all my hard work LOL!
