Easy DIY Room Divider Partition Wall for Privacy

Easy DIY Room Divider Partition Wall for Privacy

In this video, learn how to make an inexpensive room divider fast! Since I’m making these for a video studio, I put a heavy felt fabric on one side to reduce reverb and kept the shiny silver material on the other for a handy light reflector. You can use interesting fabrics to turn your room divider into a design centerpiece. Lightweight and easy to maneuver, these temporary walls can be used to section off areas of a room for privacy, noise reduction or warmth. Each 4ft x 8ft panel with feet and fabric (optional) costs about $50 and can be completed in about 30 minutes.

Can this concept work for an outside apartment balcony? I need to come up with something to block the sun and smoke from our downstair neighbor’s barbecue grilling. Great video.

Any advice on how I can make something very similar to this that would be able to withstand a breeze/moderately fast winds?

This would be a godsend for our 1 bedroom apartment with an infant in our room. Will staple gun work instead of glue? Also, we have tiles so the ABS feet will be noisy to move around. Could we use something more quiet but just as stable?

Yaaay! Happy to find your video!! 🎉😍👍🎉 Been thinking of how to devide the room without using too much material. Coz the owner of the place I rent wouldn’t allow it 🙄 This wouldn’t cost me much and it’s easy to make. Thanks a lot for sharing your brilliant idea!! 😍🙏😍

Our townhouse has 3 floors. If you’re on the first floor watching TV, and there’s someone on the third floor watching TV (normal levels) the sound travels up the open stairways and it sounds like 2 TVs in the same room. If I built a few of these and blocked the attic room, would it at least decrease the amount of sound coming from the TV on the first floor? The sound isn’t going through the flooring, it’s definitely the stairways. Thanks.

This might be a dumb question, but why did you tape the sides instead of covering them with the fabric?

  34. niznomore s on July 4, 2022 at 1:58 am

Gonna try this version of a room divider though it’s not for a room. I like to work in my garage but I don’t have a garage door. Was thinking drop cloths hung on the over head beam but the wind would just keep blowing them. I think this would work but I am gonna double the planks to make it a little more sturdy for the outdoors. Therefore I’m gonna make a 2" cut out in the longer cut pipe. I’ll let you know if it works. Thanks for the superb idea.

Just made a complete wall using white bifold doors and black pvc pipe. It is gorgeous! It folds and moves really well and we use in our 40 foot room to create different spaces. We are going to make another one so we can create 3 rooms in one. Great for visitors, craft areas, photo space, and whatever!!! Love it and got the idea from you! It is also very sturdy – you wouldn’t think so but it really is!

My son & his 3 kids will temporarily be moving in with me & I need to separate off areas for the boys. This is going to be the easiest way to do it. I can’t thank you enough!!

  38. Ashley Hallman on July 4, 2022 at 2:02 am

Wouldn’t there be a stain of sorts or paint to use instead of the fabric?

Perfect!!! I am moving to a one bedroom condo and want to turn the dining room into a guest bedroom/den for when my daughter has breaks from college. This is perfect and something I can actually manage to make. I love the fabric idea. I can set the moveable walls against the back real walls as decor when not being used and set them up as needed walls to close off the room when she is home and needs her own own space. Thank you for this idea!!!
