You forgot the most important tip: Always travel with a mean-looking and vicious dog like Alaska by your side 🙂

Surf Key. Tie a copy of the key with a rubber band or hair tie to your wetsuit zipper or pocket. There’s also usually a pocket in most surf leashes.

The quarter windows, the weak link in a bus.

Alaska’s not having it! LOL Look at her not giving a poop! LOL

  9. The Vanderful Life on February 7, 2023 at 6:19 am

Some great tips! I definitely don’t see the appeal to adding deadlocks and the likes on the outside as windows can be smashed pretty easily and somewhat quietly – its better to let them get in damage free and find as you say a dummy wallet or nothing easily accessible and leave, than be left with a drilled out deadlock or smashed windows etc

All I want for Christmas is for your channel to upload all your main videos to Minds in 2019.

I use to hide a key in the air filter box. On my Wrangler you didn’t need to unlatch the hood from inside, and most people wouldn’t think to look in there. I just drilled a hole thru the plastic webbing and used a carabiner to clip it on. I like the lockable key box, not sure where I’m going to hide a key on my Land Rover Discovery (nicknamed Leah ). My friend use to do the key on the tire thing till his 21 window Kombi got stolen. Now he has a small lock box in the engine compartment.

  23. Daryush Nadjafi on February 7, 2023 at 6:36 am

when you go surfing you could keep the key in your butt it’s called keistering no seriously why couldn’t you just keep it in your wetsuit or if it’s warm around your neck also there are security systems that will notify you on your phone if anyone gets New your car and if you’re thinking about an expensive camera system on the outside of your van that’s not even necessary you could have those little cameras on the inside of your van pointing to the windows outside no one would see them and you would be the first one notified when anyone gets close

  24. jesbsnrn on February 7, 2023 at 6:37 am

    thats great info

  25. Rob Dymott on February 7, 2023 at 6:37 am

  27. Jon Bramms on February 7, 2023 at 6:43 am

Best surf tip i ever received, put your keys in a disposable diaper and wad the diaper up like it has been used. No one is gonna touch that 🙂 cheers,

  28. Rob Dymott on February 7, 2023 at 6:46 am

Oh and guys, what can you tell me about internet on the van? I want to be able to upload videos on the move, any suggestions?

    What about personal safety. Firearm?

  32. Lucian on February 7, 2023 at 6:48 am

Will you do a Gibraltar-Vladivostok trip?

  33. iuormover on February 7, 2023 at 6:48 am

guys, what about a gps that stays in the van the whole time. We know these vans don’t even have the security code system with the key. If the campervan gets stolen…bye bye. Something like an old iphone which you "weld in" a hidden compartment and stays always on connected to the mains and then you use "find you iphone" if your van gets stolen. Surely that iphone needs to have internet connection….

  34. chirasman konwar on February 7, 2023 at 6:49 am

Where are you guys currently upto

  35. professorweeto on February 7, 2023 at 6:49 am

My tactic is just make my van look so shit, no one would be interested in it.

  36. Theodore Brahms on February 7, 2023 at 6:51 am

All good advice but as a nomadic American I instinctually avoid sketchy areas to park and my back up plan involves stabby and shooty stuff for determined transgressors

  37. Roadschool on February 7, 2023 at 6:52 am

    Great tips

  38. xXhockeymonkeyXx on February 7, 2023 at 6:53 am

Livestream? Love everyone’s vibes, Florida living over here. Just want to say thanks and keep up all the hard work you and everyone has contributed. Hope this is just the beginning. Remember, it’s only 2018 😉

  39. Rajko Bogdanovic on February 7, 2023 at 6:53 am

Hi Guys!! This video is much better than the previous one about security while traveling.

If I may add here, the easiest way to make hidden slots and fake outlook is when you build a camper/ van. Plus you can customize it based on your needs.
At the end question, are you guys planning to come to Serbia? Check out Europe best festival in Novi Sad called Exit. You must check it out when you get a chance.

Did you ever meet the people again that you met on the pan america trip

  42. TheWtfnonamez on February 7, 2023 at 6:57 am

I honestly thought you would give hippy advice, but I used to work in security in a different area, and your advice mirrors sound concepts that have stood the test of time. I think you guys talk from a position of experience as well as knowledge. The fact your first point is about situational awareness speaks volumes. Several points you make coincidentally aligned with basic self defence and firearms safety. Your point about the hidden safe that was too difficult to use is priceless: in any theatre of life, protective measures that are such a pain in the ass to use, that people skip using them, are worthless. Also your points about thieves and typical tools is spot on.
I wish you both the best of luck in your travels. You deserve it.

  43. KayCee C on February 7, 2023 at 6:58 am

That’s it? What about an alarm system? Cameras inside, a kill switch and gps tracking in case someone does manage to drive off with it so they won’t get far. Put your keys in one of those water proof key containers and tie it around you while surfing and even better if you have a mesh wrap with a pocket you can clip around you and zip your keys in. I wouldn’t want to leave it at with my van. If you’re going to have your WHOLE LIFE in something that can be taken away from you, you should spend the money to protect it.
