I wish people would stop installing staggered exactly the same every other row. It should be random. Looks so fake the way it’s shown.

Hi, just wondering why 5mm spacers weren’t used to measure-up for the last row at 4:50

  3. Joe D on July 20, 2023 at 1:07 pm

Word of advice, pull of your carpet and see whats underneath before taking on this project, especially if your house is pre1980. Check for leveling. If your floor takes a significant amount of leveling then just carpet it. Ive been scraping up old carpet matt that has compressed to my subfloor for 5 days and took around 20 hours. After getting it up, i found an uneven wood subfloor, now im 200 extra dollars in on underlaymemt, and the heavy labor thats involved with that. Clicking boards together is easy, not the prep work.

Waited with anticipation to see the long cut on narrow planks.Unfortunately of all the videos viewed not one is prepared to show this.I suspect it’s not an easy operation and so is avoided in filming.

I notice you didnt show how to connect the short edge, as well as the easy long edge, as this is always the tricky bit. You must have had difficulty with it.

  16. ZeroPoint on July 20, 2023 at 1:22 pm

    it’s so fuckin easy

Don’t snap the panels, cutt with conclude blade.

  18. GoForGold on July 20, 2023 at 1:24 pm

Luxury Vinyl usually has an expansion coefficient of less than .1% so the expansion gap is completely unnecessary. This gap IS necessary when using wood and bamboo laminate flooring which expands excessively, so this video seems to confuse these products and provides poor advice.

HOW TO CUT AROUND DOOR FRAME!?

  20. Tomtom9401 on July 20, 2023 at 1:25 pm

Basing your entire floor on the evenness of the walls in your house is a good way to get things nice and crooked. Terrible….

  21. steve kavanagh on July 20, 2023 at 1:26 pm

good skills. been fitting flooring for over 15 years and never come across that triple.board scribbing trick. well impressed with that one

  23. David Andrews on July 20, 2023 at 1:27 pm

Construction of a new house the planks were layed over construction grade pressed board. The only problem a piece of wood was underneath creating a bump. Contractor had to remove plank. He did say laminate planks you would not notice.

Finally… A Video that SHOWS the end cut and to
use the left over to start the next row!!!

because no one TELLS them to do what you just did!!!
"BRAVO" … Thank YOU so much… Great video…

  29. SAJ on July 20, 2023 at 1:41 pm

Aside from having an unleveled floor if you will be installing the planks on an uneven surface, what are the other effects? Thanks.

  35. Kathleen Cassidy on July 20, 2023 at 1:47 pm

What a fantastic video this is. I never new to leave the vinyl flooring in the room for 24 hrs to accustomize it to the room temp. also, everything was covered brilliantly . I have searched for a decent video to show me how its done. Well done to you . So easy to watch and follow. xx

  36. R Taylor on July 20, 2023 at 1:48 pm

    Acclimated lol, not Acclimitized

  37. MSeroga on July 20, 2023 at 1:49 pm

Luxury Vinyl flooring doesn’t have to acclimate if there are not VERY drastic changes in temperature in the area where you will be installing. Acclimation is much more important for wood flooring, vinyl flooring has almost 0 expansion. Also the stagger effect is not only for appearance, but to give strength to the floor so it doesn’t separate anywhere. Good video, but lacks experience with the product to give the best advice.

  43. Jen Wilkinson on July 20, 2023 at 1:57 pm

    Great video, clear explanation thanks.
I’m working with 100 year old floorboards that have seen better days. Thinking I need a hardboard layer, what would you recommend? Have heard I need a particular type of plywood.

All great.. but the second tile on the second row clicks in on two edges… Funny how they never show how to do that piece…

  46. Aliyar Rasheed on July 20, 2023 at 2:02 pm

Good job I like working this is

  47. Carlos Francisco on July 20, 2023 at 2:03 pm

    absolutely fantastic video!

My advice is, do not use skirting as the same colour of the floor because if gives the impression that the floor is "climbing" the wall.
Instead, always use white skirting (if your walls are white of course) because it will give the impression that the floor is fitted underneath the house structure, looks much nicer.
