Does the Sandmix actually hold the pan in place or just for level purpose? Thanks

  2. Bitty Botty Butty on May 30, 2023 at 12:00 pm

Have watched this video but cannot find how to create a raised concrete base to take a real slate base.

  3. Keystone Plumber on May 30, 2023 at 12:00 pm

Use clear silicon not plumbers putty for that

    Drywall mud works well

Does the wall has to be exposed or can I install it with drywall on?

  7. Robert Malone on May 30, 2023 at 12:06 pm

Thanks for the video. I’ve put in a few of these. I remember I purchased one and it got lost in transit. I mean, how do you lose a shower base? Couldn’t get a refund at Lowe’s. The guy Brian didn’t know what to do.

Good explanation of the need for the paper gasket. Thanks!

  11. Mohamed Bassiouni on May 30, 2023 at 12:12 pm

can I have the shower pan stick to the cement sheet and not the studs (i.e., tile will be installed above the integrated tile flange)?! I have made the drain eye and it will be hard to reposition the pan under the cement sheet.

  12. Khoa Vo on May 30, 2023 at 12:13 pm

How do you seal the drain with the waste drain below?

  13. Carson Davis on May 30, 2023 at 12:14 pm

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved

  14. NocturnalProductions on May 30, 2023 at 12:14 pm

You fucked up. Sand mix needs to contour to the base in its entirety, otherwise you risk warping the fibreglass, and causing pooling, or worse yet, breaking the base

  15. Brian Wiseman on May 30, 2023 at 12:14 pm

Have yet to see someone fo the HARD PART which is connect existing plumbing drain

My issue is i have a 4.5×4 shower area with plumbing straight in and a drain on the far right of the shower. Seems impossible to find a pan that works. They all have them in center or under the shower head…

  18. Tom Squire on May 30, 2023 at 12:17 pm

can you elaborate on the mortar mix you used here? thanks!

  19. N Alman on May 30, 2023 at 12:17 pm

What kind of sand mix did you use?

  20. John Trace on May 30, 2023 at 12:17 pm

Why didn’t you secure the pan to the framing? What is the sand mix made of?

  21. Dave Huck on May 30, 2023 at 12:18 pm

What’s the sand mix you use in this video. Thanks love the videos.

  22. Robert DuBois on May 30, 2023 at 12:18 pm

do NOT follow everything online… plumbers putty NOT to be used with PVC or ABS plastic plumbing… duh….?

  23. LL Roman on May 30, 2023 at 12:19 pm

These pans are so expensive! Can you make your own acrylic pan using acrylic sheets and borders from Lowes? I don’t want to do a tile nightmare. About to break up a failed one.

  24. Armour of God on May 30, 2023 at 12:21 pm

Can anyone tell me if I should remove the styrofoam underneath my shower pan?

  25. Wei Xu on May 30, 2023 at 12:22 pm

Hi Jeff, I watched a lot of your videos, that really helped me a lot. There are 4, 5 kinds of thinset mortar, which one is good for using under shower pan and not drying too fast? Thanks

  26. TheCary75 on May 30, 2023 at 12:24 pm

What does your sand mix consist of?

  27. Vitaliy G on May 30, 2023 at 12:24 pm

    Thanks

Hi jeff i have a question i am gonna install shower base at my home and i need to know as this acrylic shower and i got my other acrylic shower 38 by 38 installed at basement and its squeeking now when some body use it, so for new shower base 32 by 60 i need to know what should i put under subfloor to prevent squeezing

  29. Jamie lindahl on May 30, 2023 at 12:26 pm

I have done several of these shower pans and I have to say the cementing of the base is a cop out on the design of the shower pan
These pans are hundreds of dollars and for that money should just be made a little stronger and with adjustable feet .allowing the job to be finished the same day . Also you notice with all these videos they don’t show all of what goes into the hole cementing process ..
It’s mixed poured wa la perfect … ya right .

Hi, how one can change just the pan after the walls have been made. The house I bought has ceramic tiles in the shower but the pan is in bad shape and want to replace it

  31. traci kay on May 30, 2023 at 12:29 pm

I was wondering what your sand mixture consists of? So I would use that to level my base?

  32. Scot Ferguson on May 30, 2023 at 12:29 pm

I have watched so many of your videos during my basement bathroom install, thank you so much. I did everything from framing a new wall, covering bulkheads, drywall, replacement of rough and finish plumbing, install fiberglass base, and tiling the floor and shower. I could not have done it without your help. Love the simplicity and your explanation gives confidence that we can do it ourselves and come out with a great finish. Thank you Jeff!

I just installed the shower pan.. a friend of mine told me I didn’t have to use anything under the shower pan.. I used treated wood on subfloor…is he right ? This is my first time installing one

  36. eric rosebrock on May 30, 2023 at 12:34 pm

Thanks! I’ve been contemplating my shower pan installation and wondering if it needed to be set on a bed of mortar…

  37. kobalt staub on May 30, 2023 at 12:35 pm

So why do you put a 2X4 behind your pan against the studs??

  38. Gridless on May 30, 2023 at 12:35 pm

Question: We poured our pre slope and it’s cracked in some places to the point that it’s missing chunks. Can we patch with thinset before we lay our pan liner and do our final slope? Thanks in advance!

  39. Stacey Dickinson on May 30, 2023 at 12:35 pm

Why would you use that cement product versus let’s say a kwikset?

  40. Scott Russell on May 30, 2023 at 12:36 pm

Putty is shit. Real men use silicone. Or don’t & call me when it leaks…..

  41. 64maxpower on May 30, 2023 at 12:36 pm

Can I role the cement with a beer keg? Using a bucket looks so Joe Homeowner I want to look pro for my Instagram reel

  42. YT-User on May 30, 2023 at 12:38 pm

Na, the mortar is supposed to be spread across the entire base for underneath support and filling in low spots not just filling in the low spots.

  43. D Bradshaw on May 30, 2023 at 12:39 pm

Love the videos.. by SAND MIX .. I guess MORTAR MIX…and please loose the music.. just need the info.. too many instructional videos have music too loud and hardly in the back ground.

I’m currently remodeling my bathroom and want to paint it the same red color as shown in this video. can you please tell me the color and brand paint? Thanks

  45. SuperPerro7 on May 30, 2023 at 12:41 pm

I’m doing something like that in my house and I was wondering if I need to glue the shower pan to the drain pipe or not? Because it doesn’t show that in the video , and that’s for all the information you provided.

  46. JB B on May 30, 2023 at 12:42 pm

Don’t use putty on some of the modern pans, it will react with the plastic and you will get leaks in a few years

  47. Z Ack on May 30, 2023 at 12:43 pm

When installing on a second floor in between joists, are you supposed to support the drain? And how if so? There isnt room enough to have a p trap with a 2×4 under affixed to the joists for support.. i was thinking that when the drain is inserted then the support will be from the actual drain on the pan and that little bit of give in the pipes will act as a flex joint whereas rigid would be more prone to cracking with any movement.. i wouldnt think the pvc joints would leak from that movement over time as they are welded together.. right?

  48. Chris Durtnall on May 30, 2023 at 12:46 pm

Whati is in the sand mix?
