How to locate your Bed in your bedroom using Fengshui

How to locate your Bed in your bedroom using Fengshui

Ever wondered if there is a logic behind where you should place your bed? Why do interior designers make certain decisions? Why does your room make you feel stifled? Here is a clear visual explanation of how you should place your bed in your bedroom.

While this follows feng shui principals, there is no magic behind it, it is very much common sense, and I will explain why:)

I try to make it as short as possible, so please stay till the end!

Please feel free to ask me any questions in the comments section!

I have the first bedroom, with an added closet behind the door, and windows to the right.

I placed my bed to the left and it feels great! The windows face south, so I have a lovely view, and the position of the door allows me to see who comes in without them seeing me.

I have a chair in the bottom right corner, so the chi flows around the bed to the chair nicely.

I feel really great in my room.

So what if my room is small, the door opens and swings to the right, one window and the wall to the left is a sliding closet. The only wall I have is the bathroom wall across from the window by the closet. How would I move my room around?

  3. rustyshack on July 24, 2023 at 4:05 pm

I have the last room and agree 100% I need a strong backboard

  4. Han Loh on July 24, 2023 at 4:09 pm

hi, for room plan on 2:15, how would you position the bed when you have a wall slanding outward from top to bottom on the right of the room and a toilet on the bottom right of the room with toilet door facing the left wall? basically the room looks like a Right Trapezoid.

Is there a rule for having a slanted ceiling in you bdrm?

  6. rearct on July 24, 2023 at 4:11 pm

I appreciate your very difficult bedroom- it’s very similar to mine. Door wall opposite a big window, with one of the side walls unusable (in my case due to a closet door). My compromise was a high headboard and heavy curtains to put the bed under part of the big window.

    Snipers. Good point

I have a bedroom with a window on one side, and two doors on the other side, on the same wall. (One to The hallway, one to the bathroom.) i have no idea what to do!!! Everywhere i put my bed feels wrong ☹️☹️☹️ Please help!!

  9. Maya on July 24, 2023 at 4:16 pm

This might be too nit-picky/neurotic, but what if you live in an apartment building and don’t know what’s on the other side of the wall? My bedroom is almost exactly like the example starting at 2:10; the problem is that the best bed placement wall in my unit shares a wall with the unit next door…but I have no idea what’s on the other side. I don’t think it’s a bathroom – I haven’t heard any water sounds in the three years I’ve lived here – but other than that I’m not sure. Is that something I should be concerned about, or does that kind of thing matter more in the context of my own unit?

"When you sleep you dont want people to be looking up your legs.. thats just….Thats just not comfortable." LOL

  11. L. Nat on July 24, 2023 at 4:16 pm

i would rather move the door

  12. Ays on July 24, 2023 at 4:17 pm

Also, avoid 3d printing your bed with a half-clogged nozzle. That’s not a feng shui rule, it just makes a really uncomfortable bed 🙃

  15. Zac on July 24, 2023 at 4:21 pm

This is very close to my room other than I have ANOTHER door on the left wall opposite the single window. This was very helpful though

PLEASE HELP ME!! I think I have the most difficult bedroom for a bed, all sides of my room need to be accessed except one where there are windows, and I have to put it to the side or else it will not fit meaning dust collects and my bedside table blocks my closet. Plus, the bed is super hard to make. I have to pull it away from the wall every morning. Please help me!! I can show you a picture of my room

Good inspiration for my office/guest bedroom. I’ve been wondering what to do with it because the layout we have isn’t really working for me.

  18. orcean on July 24, 2023 at 4:21 pm

i have two doors how doesa that affect my layout

  19. UdoByte on July 24, 2023 at 4:21 pm

I just noticed your use of 3D printed props for your videos. It would be cool to use something like blender to visualize these floor plans in a render.

  20. JOLIE on July 24, 2023 at 4:23 pm

    I need help! 😢😢😢 please 🙏🏼
My bedroom with 5 walls. In addition, inside the room there is a shower and toilet together. In each option of placing the bed, the two doors of the bathroom and the room are in front of or on the side of the bed.

I don’t know what the best option in this case 🤷🏼‍♀️

  21. in time on July 24, 2023 at 4:23 pm

I lol’d at the title. Imagine how awful it would be to walk into your bedroom and be unable to locate your bed 😳

  23. James Richardson on July 24, 2023 at 4:28 pm

What if use a sliding door

  24. Neeka Bubbles on July 24, 2023 at 4:31 pm

Since he says it’s ok to have a window – with a large headboard – I say do that! Lol I just moved my bed in front of my window (with large curtains and blinds / and a headboard) and the chi flow was so much better!

  25. number pie on July 24, 2023 at 4:31 pm

I love the advice about avoiding snipers though the windows, cost affective, because bullet proof windows are expensive, but rearranging my room only costs about 2 hours.

  26. Nhatanh0475 on July 24, 2023 at 4:32 pm

3:54 Thanks you. I was just about to ask about this kind of room.

Is it OK to look at the bathroom door from the bed?

  31. Madonna & Child on July 24, 2023 at 4:35 pm

Why Not just change the orientation of the door in 5.48

  32. J. T. on July 24, 2023 at 4:36 pm

I did it right!!!! So excited. Thank you for this Fengshui video on bedroom placement. It answered so many questions.

  33. Doyoubi no Ame on July 24, 2023 at 4:37 pm

You need to make Fengshui puzzle game, which will also might be a guide how to apply it

  34. Ιαιρο Μεδινα on July 24, 2023 at 4:37 pm

Just found out I accidentally used fengshui my bed was already in the perfect spot

  35. Dark Thoughts on July 24, 2023 at 4:40 pm

Ive inadvertently placed my bed next to a toilet wall when moving. The sound of pissing, flushing the toilet and then water rushing through the pipes.. not sounds you want to associate when relaxing in bed.I quickly moved it. 😅

  36. Simply Vantastic on July 24, 2023 at 4:40 pm

I’m stuck living in a living room and just learned I put the bed in the worst place

  37. Lisa April on July 24, 2023 at 4:40 pm

It’s not difficult to change which side your door opens on. I’ve actually done it in a bedroom that was very small and the door open inward so we turned the door around so it opened outward. It made the room feel huge because the door was not swinging in and taking up all the space.

  38. Philip Lugemwa on July 24, 2023 at 4:41 pm

    snipers, really? you win

  39. Felix Mellgren on July 24, 2023 at 4:41 pm

Sir, I find this incredibly Interesting, I’m trying to rearrange my bedroom and living room/dinning area and I would love to hear ideas from you.

  41. Skye Light on July 24, 2023 at 4:43 pm

I’ve been watching Fengshui basics and despite never hearing of this thought process, I’m surprised at how my small bed & desk room fit already

  42. Mark Horton on July 24, 2023 at 4:43 pm

I would change the opening direction of the door – easy and cheap to do. Then the bed can be in the most desirable location, no compromise needed 🙂
    Love these videos!

  43. Vili Gyuri MB on July 24, 2023 at 4:50 pm

One single bed on each side of the main window (1+1) and the study desk at the window

  44. BAppleJuice on July 24, 2023 at 4:51 pm

Have you done videos on the floor plan aspect of home design? Which cardinal direction to have bedrooms, living rooms, kitchen on, etc.

  45. Braeden Young on July 24, 2023 at 4:53 pm

Option 1: add acoustic paneling to the bathroom wall and place the bed there. The panel will dampen the noise from the bathroom.
Option 2: Place the bed facing south with it’s back against the wall to the left of the door. Then remove the door from it’s hinges and re-mount it on the other side of the door frame. (The landlord will never notice the difference).

  46. TBD on July 24, 2023 at 4:54 pm

Excellent thank you helped me understand tremendously and I’d been reading about it for hours! This was exactly helpful

  47. downbntout on July 24, 2023 at 4:54 pm

Could the door be recounted to open the opposite way? Anyone tried it? Edit: remounted

  48. PerfectlyImperfect on July 24, 2023 at 5:01 pm

How do you position two beds (queen and twin) in a room? With entry door in corner of one wall and bathroom door next to entry door on another wall?

  49. studlygrish on July 24, 2023 at 5:02 pm

You need to redo these videos and add closet spaces!
This will determine where you put your bed !

I was waiting for the "now you know!" 😅
