IKEA HEMNES SHOE CABINET HACK I SHOE STORAGE IDEAS

This Ikea Hemnes Shoe Cabinet Hack is solving a major storage problem in my entryway! I’m using the Ikea Hemnes shoe cabinet that I’ve had my eye on for quite a while to get started with this small entryway makeover. Instead of using one Ikea Hemnes shoe unit, I’m using 2, but hacking it so it looks like 1 piece. I’m giving my diy tips and tricks and mess ups so that you know you can do it too! This is perfect if you are looking for shoe storage ideas for your entryway.

The hemnes shoe cabinet is so slim and narrow and helps any small entryway look huge! It also gives it a wide open feeling, but leaves the space feeling refreshed.

This is part 1 of my diy entryway makeover. Make sure you’re subscribed for part 2!

I’m SO thankful you share the reality of these things. So many folks think they could never DIY; they don’t understand the mistakes that have to be made when you’re doing it! That’s how you learn and do jobs well 🤗 I especially loved this video because shoes all over drive me crazy too 😜 your personality is really fun and doesn’t feel forced. All around well done! The outakes are fun too 😌

  34. Brenda Moon on January 1, 2023 at 3:29 am

I’m impressed with your husband’s shoes so lined up. Men usually throw shoes everywhere

  35. Patreece Crumidy on January 1, 2023 at 3:29 am

    Great job lady

  36. Mylfy on January 1, 2023 at 3:29 am

Ikea also has some plastic ones that I have brought called Trones Does your family use them? I put them up but their shoes are still everywhere and I am constantly tripping on them…lol

Another really great use for these is to store your kids school and art projects. They are good for that because they fit the ones that are oversized.

  37. Tara D on January 1, 2023 at 3:30 am

I missed the drilling into the wall. I have concrete walls that had painted wood paneling over them. sounds wild but that’s how they built the townhouse complex. that’s my issue is drilling is so hard on my arms.

  38. Subconscious Momma on January 1, 2023 at 3:30 am

omg dealing with same issue, love this , got a new inspiration as always , Thanks love!

  39. Ruby Lioness on January 1, 2023 at 3:31 am

That Alien Tape is really THE TRUTH but it will snatch the paint off the walls! So just be prepared for that after it’s been there for a while and it’s also washable. Yup! WASHABLE! I use it to tack down rugs in my classroom and then just take it up and wash it off with soap and water to use it in another area. Sounds gross but my floors get cleaned daily and it’s covered by the rug so it’s not that dusty and very easy to clean. After washing I let the tape dry on wax paper. If it is super dirty like black i just throw away. One roll of tape lasts a good while.

  40. Sheena Beena on January 1, 2023 at 3:32 am

what were the drill gauge sizes for the holes?

  41. Tania D on January 1, 2023 at 3:34 am

Hi Niky 😁 you are such an inspiration 🙌🏾 I have the same issue but by the master bedroom 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️thank you for sharing this hack! It was very helpful and I can’t wait for part 2! I also love how you break things down and show that can be a hiccups but how to work around them 🙌🏾 great job as always 👏🏾 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳💐💖

  42. Karina S. on January 1, 2023 at 3:34 am

  43. Cori Nagy on January 1, 2023 at 3:34 am

THANK YOU for making this video!! I never liked the gap when I would see people put 2 together. I bet a Kregg jig would work too. You are so clever!!! 💕

  44. Subconscious Momma on January 1, 2023 at 3:35 am

what color is your wall paint? by the shoe cabinet ?

  45. Dwuna Henton on January 1, 2023 at 3:37 am

So neat my foyer looks like that, full of shoes

  46. Pertinacious Hout on January 1, 2023 at 3:39 am

Looked great! That piece looks narrow enough that I could put it in my hallway. Hope you put wood glue in the extra holes you drilled with the frog tape template (the wood dowel didn’t look as snug as it might should have been). Also (just a thought for extra support/sturdiness), when you added the second piece and tucked it behind the first one, instead of just using glue, maybe drill a few extra holes (if possible) on the front backside (where you slid the second piece together) and use wood glue/dowels for additional support. Love the slim, clean look of that cabinet for hiding shoes!
I was amused that you sorted all of the hardware! At least I know I’m not the only one that does that!

Glad you’re sharing, it inspires ideas for the rest of us!!

  47. Mahogany Crumidy on January 1, 2023 at 3:43 am

Hope you ready to come down south next year!!! Lol

I just found your channel and have been binge watching and screen-grabbing 😂! I am about to purchase my first home on a budget and a lot of properties within my price range need a little TLC, which was becoming disappointing. Your channel has inspired me to purchase a home with good bones and the rest, I can update! You’re so detailed and I really appreciate that. Bless you Sis! 😊 🙏🏾
