This is all part of life off grid and alone in the woods… I’m currently resting, icing and elevating after the fall… thank you all in advance for the love and submitting questions for the Q&A. Before we know it we will be back to building our homestead!

Our Journey! How did we get here?
In the winter of 2019 we moved in to our self built van full time to begin living, working and travelling Canada. We quickly fell in love with chasing our dreams of adventuring off the beaten path, living off grid and being self sustaining. We drove our van thousands of miles through various countries-Canada, USA, Mexico & Guatemala. All of which we documented here on our channel, be sure to check that out! After many years on the open road we found ourselves 15 acres of remote woods on the East Coast of Canada where we are building a homestead and renovating our fully off the grid cabin. We are diving into this chapter of our lives in no experience, we’re so happy we can bring you all along as we learn to do it all with our own two hands. Thank you for being here with us for cabin life, van life and all the in between!

Drive down to the river and put your foot in there, this will help a lot, Chrystal. Be better soon!

Great Q & A. I’m heading off grid tomorrow for 2 weeks and I can hardly wait. Just my sister and me – 78 & 82 – you’re never too old.

    Great Qn A

  5. Vivian Smith on July 21, 2022 at 2:01 am

Always ice asap!!!!!!!💫💨💦also with sprains tape it then get into water waste deep and walk. The body is lighter and by moving the ankle it allows the blood to move and reduce the pain and swellings. Taught to me by a trainer in school as I sprained my foot in volleyball.💬🗨💨

  6. HM Bee on July 21, 2022 at 2:02 am

I hope your ankle heals up quickly for you. For future injuries you might want to plant some comfrey and arnica. You can easily make an infused oil and then turn that into a salve to have on hand year round.

  7. Denise Martell on July 21, 2022 at 2:02 am

I know what you going through I know how that feels plus I had a fracture

  8. J Taylor on July 21, 2022 at 2:03 am

Slather Arnica every couple of hours. Will take away soreness and bruise

I did exactly the same with my ankle and it hurts so bad. Feeling your pain and anguish.

  12. John Fleury on July 21, 2022 at 2:05 am

Drill the boulders to anchor the solar system rent a hammer drill use expending plugs no sweat you can do it yourself
For winter over stock up on firewood and food make sure water is available melting snow for cooking will work but not for the rest (showers flushing) but read about how the pioneers made it was no IGAor Safeway in those days you’ll make it I ain’t worry take care be safe

  16. Marilyn Sydor on July 21, 2022 at 2:10 am

You’re both so AWESOME! I admire both your willingness to be open to new things and how you show us to DANCE WITH OUR FEARS, instead of stopping you from living your dream life! Keep on inspiring us, ladies!

  17. Marta Jakubczak on July 21, 2022 at 2:11 am

OMG I just literally did the same thing and fell a very similar way. Sorry to tell you, these types of rolls take 4-6 weeks to recover. The main tip that the physio and hospital gave me was to just rest it as much as I can. Also elevate and Ice for a few weeks as much as possible. Speedy recovery lovely.

  18. R Myers on July 21, 2022 at 2:14 am

Best part of an injury is the chance to exercise all the colorful vocabulary! Hope you’re back in the game soon. ❤️

  19. Rohan Richardson on July 21, 2022 at 2:14 am

Do you have something to clean the snow off of solar panels during winter once you have the solar system installed?

  20. Shawn Fujioka on July 21, 2022 at 2:14 am

Hi y’all would you mind please including a trigger warning at the beginning of your video or in the description when something like this happens? My mom loves your videos but saw the fall and got massive PTSD from her own past own injuries, and now can’t bring herself to watch your videos for a few weeks. I know you want to leave your audience in suspense, but I just don’t want anyone else traumatized like my mom.

nasty fall you can have sprained your foot, take it easy, Crystal

  24. thebussycatdolls on July 21, 2022 at 2:21 am

I was absolutely not laughing at that fall. One of my biggest, most ridiculous fears is rolling my ankle. I couldn’t even watch the slow-motion 🫣

  25. Tom Gourley on July 21, 2022 at 2:22 am

Thank you for all your hard and rewarding work ladies. We are always impressed by all you have accomplished. We have finally
Made it to Nova Scotia ourselves and maybe we will see you ladies out and about somewhere. We enjoyed Baja this past Winter as well. Cheers!

  26. Elizabeth L on July 21, 2022 at 2:24 am

oh my gosh, I know you two laughed at the replay but it hurt me so much to watch it, to even see it happen the first time….I recently twisted my ankle (not even as badly as you did) and even though I don’t normally swear, the eff word came out REAL quick at that pain. I hope you’re healing well. You brought tears to me eyes with your answers to the one thing you each love about one another. SOOOO sweet. Great answers. Thanks for sharing a little slice of your lives with us. You are much loved xoxo and paws up to the doggos 🙂

  27. Brein Games on July 21, 2022 at 2:25 am

14:00 that’s a crazy big toe. Tell me it’s swollen from the fall. Only other thing I can think of is aliens. Aliens musta impregnated your toe. While you were sleeping.

  28. Rogena Qshairy on July 21, 2022 at 2:26 am

*I think you need to go to hospital every soon*

  29. Troy Walden on July 21, 2022 at 2:28 am

  31. Bill Mickey on July 21, 2022 at 2:30 am

Your shows are so good I like watching you guys build things and find like you guys are doing

  32. Tia Burnham on July 21, 2022 at 2:31 am

Have you thought about building an outdoor kitchen until you can add the one inside?
Can you float in the river so the cool water can help the swelling?
You ladies are great to watch. Such hard workers.

  33. Eddie Johnson on July 21, 2022 at 2:31 am

so to give you a heads up when you hit rocks like that see if you can drill into that rock and put concrete anchor bolts into that rock to hold your solar array

  34. Rosie on July 21, 2022 at 2:36 am

You guys are amazing! That was a great vid! Stay strong.

  35. Vanwives on July 21, 2022 at 2:38 am

Hey Pack! Another week in the woods but with a twist- pun intended 🤣 Wanted to leave a note that I’m resting after the fall! Taking it easy, icing and elevating. MUCH love to you all!!!!! 💛

    Vous êtes formidables !!

  37. Marlee Smith on July 21, 2022 at 2:41 am

I’m so glad your ankle was just sprained, I thought for sure it was broken in that playback! Praying for a speedy recovery for you. See y’all next week!

  38. Kevin Duggan on July 21, 2022 at 2:41 am

The exact same accident happened to me when I was young, while I was shooting hoops with a buddy. I watched the video and you suffered from an "inversion" sprain. The pain is soooo acute that it FEELS like you have actually broken your foot or ankle. You cannot put ANY weight on it for fear of this excruciating pain.

I am sure you are doing all the right things to help heal your ankle even though there is not really much that you can do except stablize the ankle, elevate it and ice it. Ensure you have it wrapped in a Tensor bandage to help stablize the joint, (or tape it – see the link below) and Ice it – on for 20 minutes and off for 20 minutes. A large drug store (like Shoppers Drug Mart) should sell flexable, cloth covered gel ice packs that do not feel cold against your skin…they"re amazing actually.

    Taping an inversion sprain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELsu25Gow0I

    Aircast Walking Boot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4iNUeiQLCE

I truly wish you well…and don’t rush it…it will take time.

Here’s hoping you pick up a sponsor who might provide you with the tools you need to support you in healing your ankle.

  39. climatebabes on July 21, 2022 at 2:43 am

A bit of overkill with the solar panel support. Looks expensive, energy intensive. As does your car. You need to get more Wp solar and try to get solar heat from them as well..

  40. Rixanne H on July 21, 2022 at 2:45 am

You should be whittling yourself a super cool walking stick while you’re stranded on your bootay! 🙂 or a boondock crutch

  41. JayHora on July 21, 2022 at 2:45 am

I think it Q&A once a quarter or maybe once a third of the year would be nice. Also living with a gravel driveway for 20 years I would highly suggest a snowblower attachment if you get any large quantities of snow versus a plow.

  42. Dylan Cleary on July 21, 2022 at 2:49 am

I really wanna know how y’all fund all these projects. I’m 35, I’ve been working my ass off my whole life and I have no end in sight. I’m just super curious how young people are finding success in this crippling economy and how to get out of the circle rut of living paycheck to paycheck forever and ever.
    Help me ladies! Please 🙏🏽
    Bc I’m seriously loosing hope.

  43. jeb buffinton on July 21, 2022 at 2:51 am

Loved the q&a. It was touching, moving, and beautifully honest. Thank you both!

  44. ronbo8956 on July 21, 2022 at 2:53 am

You two are a beautiful couple. Which I had that again..

  45. Kiwi Bean on July 21, 2022 at 2:54 am

Did either of you burn, or did you apply sunscreen? Also, any tips for renovating a small space (19ft rv)? I love the QnAs!! See ya next Sunday!!!

  46. denise bernard on July 21, 2022 at 2:54 am

I hope you are doing ok and taking it easy. I have a off the wall question for you two. Where did you guys purchase your short slip on boots???

  47. Rohan Richardson on July 21, 2022 at 2:55 am

Cherry tomatoes are probably your best choice for tomatoes simply because you will get fruit really fast and plenty of fruit and it’s the same with most vegetables, mini varieties can be harvested faster and sometimes you get two crops for one in a season.
Set her up with a jigsaw puzzle.

  48. Paul Walsh on July 21, 2022 at 2:56 am

Man that will call dark colours no ice on it. Should look at compression gear i have the socks and gloves and work so well never rarely get sore feet anymore just put them on over nite plus helps blood flood should try some and good for injuries such as that or knee’s.

  49. Pappy41 on July 21, 2022 at 2:56 am

You two are a joy. I’m a 80 yr old man who never appreciated how same sex people could have a complete connection but you’ve helped me see you love one another and have all the challenges of any intimate relationship. Any heterosexual couple could take guidance from you. Your drive to created together and learn all the skills you do is truly admirable. Best of luck to you and I’ll be watching.

  50. kzf1 on July 21, 2022 at 2:56 am

Oh Crystal! So sorry you got hurt. You have a great partner in Jazzy plus great dogs in Izzy and Bella. You’ve got a great support group. Loved the Q&A in the second half of the video. And you both have a bond that many couples would pay to have. Enjoy watching you every week.
