INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS WE DON'T NEED IN 2023

Hey everyone! Today’s video we’re talking about interior design trends that we need less of in 2023. We have seen these trends a lot this year and naturally they will start to slow down and people will get tired of them. Remember just do what you love and these are just my opinions! Let’s talk about it in the comments because girl, I want a FRESH 2023 with amazing new design ideas.

So agree with all especially painting furniture weird colors. I have a few pieces of ugly furniture but they are honestly and unabashedly so. Painting them would be the same as slapping lipstick on a pig…

  2. Lisa Orr on December 22, 2022 at 1:31 am

I disagree with your painting old furniture trend. This trend has been a go to of the Bugatti designer for decades. Picking out the worst examples of this trend seems a little sneaky. Next time, fight fair. Humble yourself, it makes you more likable!

The painted furniture infuriates me!! Just refinish it and stain it. It’s beautiful as is.

  4. Annelou Bangert on December 22, 2022 at 1:34 am

I totally agree, although some of the trends have not reached my country luckily (limewash cabinets?!)

  5. Angie Corbin on December 22, 2022 at 1:35 am

I love the repainted furniture 😃

  6. First Choice on December 22, 2022 at 1:35 am

I enjoy your show so much.

  7. Gwen J on December 22, 2022 at 1:35 am

I’m guessing those boucle furniture pieces in real life look grungy and dingy. They look like they would be real dirt magnets and impossible to clean.

  8. Amy Esacove on December 22, 2022 at 1:36 am

I do have to say, I will always love a simple bed with just the pillows you need to sleep. Ok that’s all! Byeeee

This is why we should not follow design trends. Just do what you like. Because one year these design experts will tell you that something is in style, and the next year they’ll tell you it’s out. Do with your home what you love!!!

  10. Sue Riley on December 22, 2022 at 1:38 am

    I love painted furniture.

  11. C S on December 22, 2022 at 1:38 am

I hate to see good wood ruined with paint. As for the hue lights, those are pretty garish. I like warm lighting and use warm bulbs in all my light fixtures. The one exception I made was the lamp over the bathtub – I put a pink salt lightbulb and it’s a lovely warm glow while you’re bathing.

I live for Arvin’s look of disgust at 9.42. Also, I painted some furniture in 2022. Please forgive me!

  13. 101Magali on December 22, 2022 at 1:41 am

    Great ❤ ^^

  14. Yanick FM on December 22, 2022 at 1:44 am

The furniture flippers of the future are just gonna be armed with paint stripper and sandpaper when everyone gets over this painted look

  15. Florence Reyes on December 22, 2022 at 1:44 am

GREAT VIDEO! I MISS THIS KIND OF VIDEOS… 100% AGREED ON PAINTING GOOD QUALITY MADE OF REAL WOOD FURNITURE. I DO LOVE SOME OF YOUR PAINTED FURNITURE. 😍❤️
Investing in financial market now should be in every wise individuals list, in some months time you’ll be ecstatic with the decision you made today.

  16. Clever 444 on December 22, 2022 at 1:45 am

Nobody asked but I love this video. I agree with everything you said

  17. andrea bradley on December 22, 2022 at 1:46 am

Paint flipping is okay if flipper has done their research. I had a neighbor that was interested in a piece I had, informed me she wanted to cut it in half. Also, managed an antique store where people would come in looking for a cabinet to cut the top out of for a sink 😿

  18. Shamika B on December 22, 2022 at 1:47 am

When we say things like "slapping paint on" of course it sounds horrible. But some of these people, at least the ones I watch, actually make these old, beat up pieces look great again. Which is likely why they’re able to sell them for what they do. I wish I had the time & talent to do it.

  19. SuperPiper27 on December 22, 2022 at 1:48 am

I normally love watching you. I don’t hate you for your opinions but sometimes you’re mean I’m your delivery.

  20. Amy Young on December 22, 2022 at 1:49 am

I so agree with all the trends you mentioned.. especially painting/flipping furniture. I cringe when beautiful old wood pieces get that cheapy, garish color make over. Please make it stop. Thanks for the upload. Be well

  21. Ellen Ripley on December 22, 2022 at 1:49 am

That last one is atrocious. What a way to ruin furniture.

  22. Herewego111 on December 22, 2022 at 1:53 am

I paint some of my old furniture that has no value left in it (not great pieces to start with) and they look great but I live in a cottage or one might say bungalow home. I downside as I reached a certain age and love my painted pieces that go well with my more expensive furniture. It is a style I enjoy but I do think one can go overboard with painted furniture in decor. To each their own but I do think your ideas are great most of the time.

  23. Suz Q on December 22, 2022 at 1:58 am

I think painting the furniture can be a good option if the furniture isn’t in great condition but I’d stick to something like gray or a another neutral color

  24. Amanda Lynn on December 22, 2022 at 1:58 am

Could not agree more with the last one!!! So frustrating! lol

  25. Mallory Beltran on December 22, 2022 at 2:01 am

I with you on the lime-wash cabinets

  26. jacquelineazure on December 22, 2022 at 2:02 am

  29. Michele Romano on December 22, 2022 at 2:07 am

Love your videos but you seem to change your mind every 5 minutes!😂 one video says you absolutely love bouclet and now you hate it??? Wtf😂

  30. Rebellious Refinement on December 22, 2022 at 2:07 am

No more boucle furniture..And all neutral palettes 🥱

  31. Isabella Fortunato on December 22, 2022 at 2:08 am

Ahhhh ok furniture flipping can be done well. I hate seeing it when they do it to well preserved vintage furniture but I’ve seen prices that were unusable turned into something beautiful. But I will say it’s became very popular, everyone thinks they can do it so it leads to some atrocious stuff lol

  32. 💅🏼boo boo💅🏼 on December 22, 2022 at 2:09 am

Sally lou’anne is SHOOK you came for her chalk painted furniture 😂😂😂 how else will she display her Rae Dunn pieces

  33. Cinthia Orlov on December 22, 2022 at 2:09 am

I could not agree more, especially with the paint DIY furniture!

  34. Ms Lynn on December 22, 2022 at 2:09 am

    One note, DONG! Lol ..

  35. Kt85 on December 22, 2022 at 2:09 am

What I want gone is the idea of the slabs of marble all the way up the wall. I rather tile but not little. I put grey subway tile on mine. Hate white subway tile all think is stains run away from white grout 🤣. End open shelves in kitchen if want to wipe dust and grease mixed together go for it.

  36. prettybaby80 on December 22, 2022 at 2:09 am

Boucle- no , slats yes – no to the others

  37. Will Mulligan on December 22, 2022 at 2:12 am

  42. architectonic99 on December 22, 2022 at 2:16 am

    Agree with all your dislikes!!

  43. Amy Esacove on December 22, 2022 at 2:16 am

Love all your vids and humor and congrats on your new home! Welcome to LA. I agree with DIY and lime wash and some others you mentioned. But One thing about furniture “trends” is that furniture should not be so disposable. Fast fashion is bad enough but then furniture is a whole new level of scary wasteful. “This year buy this! Oh that’s garbage throw it out. We’re doing something all new this year.” 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

  44. Michaelene Miranda Gonzaga on December 22, 2022 at 2:21 am

  46. Claire Allgaier on December 22, 2022 at 2:22 am

Yes. Please stop painting authentic Midcentury furniture!!!

  47. LizLouKiss on December 22, 2022 at 2:24 am

Arvin you are the best! You know someone is a very confused person if they have monastery bedding with rave lighting! 😳😂

  48. Tami Z on December 22, 2022 at 2:24 am

Painting the furniture…completely agree. Everything is repaired, sanded, ready to be stained. Then the paint goes on!!! It’s awful

  49. Sara on December 22, 2022 at 2:27 am

I actually follow a few furniture refinishers who thoughtfully try to save the furniture piece by sanding and re-staining. But sometimes, there are parts of the furniture that are so ruined and damaged that the only way to save it from the landfill is to fill the holes, gouges, and dents with filler and paint it (not necessarily all of it). However, there are some furniture flippers who take a perfectly fine piece of wood furniture and paint it gaudy colors. That sort of art work needs to be done on a canvas and not a piece of furniture.

Limewash cabinets are gross. They look grimy and dirty. Like dust covered. Not what you want near your food. 😬🤢
