Pros vs cons of hammock camping ⤵️
I have the Heven tent with the ultralight rainfly. Opinions are my own. Not spon.
PROS
• Lays flat and comes with an extra wide insulated sleeping pad (4 R value)
• Great for side sleepers and I assume anyone with knee or back pain who can’t crawl into a tent
• It’s relatively affordable for a sleep system at $315 USD (tent+pad)
• Rain tarp is highly adjustable and can close from inside the hammock if the weather takes a turn
• If there’s no trees around you can pitch it on the ground as a Bivy using trekking poles or sticks
CONSiderations
• Can’t fit large dogs (sorry Kyro)
• It is 6 lbs 8oz (which is a pound or 2 heavier than my backpacking sleep system setup
• You can keep your bag inside but it was more comfortable outside under the tarp
•Works best with included mattress, the Nemo insulated tensor sleeping pad I have didn’t work because the sides caved in
• Make sure your head side is hung higher than the feet side and your butt is in the middle so your not slanted downwards
Im thinking about it.Does the pad help with rigidity? Punctures in the pad while back country camping can ruin a trip or and another challenge.
How is $315 affordable? Fricken rich people lmao
Don’t leave ur dog out
CAN I JOIN YOU
And my mind just went to the Avatar movie. The way they all sleep up in the trees in those little cocoon hammocks.
Have you ever seen or heard anything unexplainable out there?
Bears: "Oh look, delivery" 🐻 😋
I think the correct words are reasonable price, that’s it.
Six and a half pounds!!! Trad backpacker.
Is it bear proof?
Now a bear can also enjoy a nice meat wrap
That’s pretty cool , I like it
Costco sometimes has a roadshow 1-2 times a year and they sell several items for good prices.
High up Idaho we call those bear burritos. 😂
Now try this toy with 280lbs
I don’t appreciate some who is getting gear for free and testing it once and telling people its good
Omg!!!
Poor dog!!!!
Do you think it would be okay for a small dog? Weighs about 28 pounds
You had me until I couldnt have the dog with me.
….. Winter camping in a hammock, it doesn’t end well.
I’m just getting one of the tiny air mattresses for $20 and I have a hammock with a net from Amazon for $30 jesus
Buying a good camping hammock was the best ever. Unless im on top of mount everest you wont catch me with a dam tent ever again.
I will buy you new pants
I have the same setup for about $50
Delicious tamale 🫔 for a bear 🐻
Wait are there links on where to buy this?!
Wait… so what did you do with the dog?
That looks so fun!
$300 😂😂😂😂
I’ve never slept in something like this but I have attempted to nap inside an aerial silk hammock… I just feel seasick. It’s actually not restful at all for me lol
Great concept to keep you off the ground period. And fully functional. But outrageously expensive for the novelty.
315 DALPRS??!!1?????
That would be great for winter camping! For summer I use a lighter, more compact system with an under quilt instead of a pad, highly recommend for hiking
What kind of pants are those, I like them
I recommend to tie your bag to a tree so bugs amd bears dont get to it
No under quilt, no heating system, air mattress, thin walls. You’re gonna be freezing.
Your back gonna hurt sleeping on this hammock
Gift wrapped bear dinner
I have same one but different color, green/camo.
I had one of these. As always, there are advantages and disadvantages to it in comparison to a simple gathered-end hammock. As you get more experienced in hammock camping you tend to go back to a simpler setup, like ultralight gathered end hammock, underquilts, and a separate tarp.
😮
She is gorgeous
Does anyone know how big is to big for a dog? For the hammock tent? So let’s say the dog weighs 70-80 and I weigh 110-115?
Looks nice for warmer months but it REALLY Depends on where you’re winter camping. Though in general it’s still a bad option. Even just the fact it’s off the ground alone makes it one of the worst choices you could make. Because it’ll suck the heat right out of you. Where I’m from at least it would be safer to make a tarp tent than even think about using a hammock. I wouldn’t count on it for any kind of serious winter conditions
Oof. Thats heavy as hell.
Nope, sorry. Not affordable at all. Very nice ones out there 50-120. For over 300, I can get a whole floor. Mattresses around $30
“It’s relatively affordable”
Bitch, I cowboy camp! I use a stone as a pillow and my hat as a blanket.
315 for a plastic sleeping bag🤣🤣🤣
SIX POUNDS!!!
I have done this on a backpacking trip except i just used a regualr hammock and a tarp
