The only difference between art and vandalism is the person behind the can. Why are they there, how much planning was put into it and how much time was put into the work.
I painted for awhile (20+ years ago) paining on a canvas is so much easier than painting on a wall. Plus I found painting a canvas…ALONE… in my studio was enjoyable compared to painting in a kitchen with the whole family watched. They even wheeled in great grandma so she could eat lunch and watch me paint.

Graffiti in the right place or wrong place, IMO, when an artist can stimulate a change of emotions, perception, or thought process it is achieving it’s mission. The decision of where to express oneself that causes damage is a personal decision we all make every day. I am glad any city embraces this need in artist to make a statement thru their skills. I too would rather see old buildings painted than bare, I love this trend and hope it continues.

Did vanlife ride over Cityboy? I never did understand the appeal of cities compared to virtually any other option. Yes, that is the cutest fountain in the world.

Why do I have "video killed the radio star in my head"…

  31. Tina Schaeffer on August 21, 2022 at 4:18 am

I prefer murals because raw graffiti with its mishmash makes me feel "nervous". It is loud and chaotic, unsettlingly. I can appreciate the art and skill in graphetti, but murials make sense to me. They "speak" to me without "screaming". … I dont know if this makes sense to you or not. I guess my reaction speaks to how art is about conveying a feeling.

  32. Yellow RoseOfTexas on August 21, 2022 at 4:18 am

Interesting art allies. Thanks for sharing 😊

I’m excited you stopped near my home area. I’m living in my van between Niagara and Hamilton, wish I could have spotted you and thanked you in person. But the comments section will have to do. Thanks for making weirdos feel "normal" 🙂 I’m making a new life in my van "The Blue Bastard" (from parts unknown) and loving it.

  34. Kat Hockman on August 21, 2022 at 4:23 am

Cool! I WOULD like to go down that alley and sweep the yuk off the ground….I’m a little OCD…..

  35. Russell Drey on August 21, 2022 at 4:23 am

If you ever come to Atlanta, GA go to Cabbagetown to see the living wall. It’s not long as the ones you go to but I’m sure you’d still love it.

I have been a metal artist for over 45 years. I really would rather see some of these old buildings with graffiti and looking beautiful rather than ran down and looking so very sad. Love the posts and walks down these allies. Thanks!
