Perfect look for another video ! You look gorgeous ! I love the way you look tonight!

  2. Lucy Braun on June 10, 2022 at 10:16 pm

Wood? Hard to keep looking nice, and a dust magnet. No, thanks. Add smaller touches of wood through decor elements for warmth without going the expense of something more pricey to replace like cabinets when they trend out or the finish doesn’t stay looking as nice.

  3. Lucy Braun on June 10, 2022 at 10:17 pm

Absolutely LOVE my drain racks! They double my counterspace, and are strong enough to hold a heavy pot when I need it out of the way. I can put my cutting board on top one, and chop vegetables there for added counterspace, and I can wash dishes over them with the water flowing through them before they become drying racks for my dishes, since I am not a fan of dishwashers. Can’t say enough good things about my drain racks, but don’t get me started on the wasted space of dishwashers. Not having one. Ever.

Great ideas, LOVE the marble sink!

  5. Joan Mavima on June 10, 2022 at 10:25 pm

    Love the white-washed woods.
Love the metals which can go traditional, modern, or rustic.
Love the veined marble – one looks like cowhide !
Thought: if energy prices continue ⬆️, partitions may return to seal off areas not in use.

My favorites : hand-glazed tiles (though i loathe grout), copper sink & facet with green cabinetry, and especially the little glass pantry! We don’t have a pantry in our kitchen, but use a cupboard under the stairs that we use as we don’t have any orphaned wizard children to keep there 😊

  8. Lucy Braun on June 10, 2022 at 10:27 pm

Glass walls rock! Can’t say enough good things about them! They are modern. They make your space look bigger. They create views. They’re shiny! Easy to keep clean. They let the sun in! They create sound barriers when needed. Go with glass!

  9. Lucy Braun on June 10, 2022 at 10:30 pm

Love the infinity edge sink look. Makes your counterspace look bigger, and more modern. That look isn’t going anywhere out of style for a very long time.

How exactly does your inspire section of your Patreon account work? I am interested in one-on-one advice on general items through my small home. Do we supply you with drawings, measurements, pictures or how do you prepare to give us advice without any information? I assume you must need all of this before the actual 30 minutes. Is it done via Zoom? Do we actually move through the house showing you in real time what everything looks like and then you give us ideas? Is it $81.50 for one month for 30 minutes and if we want or need more time, we wait until the next month, pay another $81.50 for another 30 minutes? Just wondering how it all works before I enroll. Thanks. I love your You Tube channel!

  12. Lucy Braun on June 10, 2022 at 10:35 pm

Yes, take those cabinets to the ceiling, by all means! Maximize that space up there while making your kitchen look bigger, and avoiding dust gathering areas above cabinets, because who wants their kitchen harboring unnecessary, unhealthy dust? Yuck!

  13. Lucy Braun on June 10, 2022 at 10:36 pm

I like thin pantries that slide out from nowhere so you can grab what you need while cooking (like spices), and then slide them back out of sight while you carry on with meal prep. Anything more substantial in a pantry needs to be behind closed doors for me.

  14. Grace Bollinger on June 10, 2022 at 10:38 pm

Beautiful photos, love many of them. Hesitant to say that I would want the business of marble, or the care. But I’ll give a shout out to marbleized papers. Do love your ideas and enthusiasm, thanks you for bringing me up to date.

  15. Edward Casper on June 10, 2022 at 10:39 pm

Today’s trendy is often tomorrow’s dated. The question is which are truly practical and which are merely gimmicky. Some of the pantries you showed are almost as big as my entire galley kitchen.

  16. Kristina on June 10, 2022 at 10:39 pm

Oh, and I hate upper cabinets! I’m short so they don’t work for me, plus I hate the darkness in the space from the cabinets and the counters. Also my idea. I’m working on converting my laundry room into a pantry so when I redo my kitchen I can remove my upper cabinets as my kitchen is small and removing them would open the room up a bit. Everything, including dishes, food, and small appliances will go in there. The only things left will be the lower cabinets for pots and pans.

  17. Lucy Braun on June 10, 2022 at 10:41 pm

Marble sinks are too busy, and will surely trend out soon.

  18. Missy Schnur on June 10, 2022 at 10:45 pm

What do you think about brick for backsplash?

  19. Lucy Braun on June 10, 2022 at 10:47 pm

Not a fan of backsplash tiles. They are harder to keep clean than quartz sheets, and they get things looking too busy, and even cluttered, in my opinion. I like more of a sleek look. Keeps the kitchen hub looking more spacious, which is what I really like going for, since I spend so much of my time there.

  20. Barbara Rivera on June 10, 2022 at 10:48 pm

    Thank you

  21. Sunny Notblind on June 10, 2022 at 10:48 pm

Open plan is always gonna be my fave!

  22. Lynne Palmer on June 10, 2022 at 10:49 pm

Soooo, does this mean black faucets are out? I don’t have one but am curious. I am intrigued with the copper.
I love all the info you put out. It’s a huge help!
    ❤🤗

  23. Donna Henderson on June 10, 2022 at 10:51 pm

I was ready to order hand glazed hexagon tile from the UK until I realized that shipping would push my tile to $40 sq ft with more than half going to shipping.

  24. Erin Gudge on June 10, 2022 at 10:51 pm

Our new kitchen is almost finished and I am excited to see how many of these I hit the mark on: green cabinets, gold details and wood details, workstation sink, big pantries, and quartz that is calacatta in design. Woot woot!

  25. L Fischer on June 10, 2022 at 10:52 pm

first time viewing – way too much valueless commentary and not enough analysis of pictures with more time viewing the pictures. Really an ad to generate follow on $$$$

  26. light on June 10, 2022 at 10:52 pm

Love the antics and modern kitchen ❤️👍🏻❤️

  27. RED on June 10, 2022 at 10:54 pm

I’m really loving the hand glazed tile back splashes. They always have a warm touch to kitchens. I do like the blues and green painted cabinets. I haven’t always been warm to them.

  28. P on June 10, 2022 at 10:55 pm

Lovely informative video. Just from experience, marble is a natural stone, it’s been used in kitchens. I have used marble unfortunately it stains easily, any drop of acidic food like lemon juice, tomatoes or even spilt milk eats the stone and leaves a horrible stain or unpolished surface. We can get rid of this stain is getting it polished professionally. A HUGE EXPENSE and very messy.

  29. Kimberly Perrotis on June 10, 2022 at 10:55 pm

I would love a butler’s pantry with a door to separate the noisy, cluttered kitchen from the dining room. I would have lots of cabinets for storing special china, crystal, table linens and serving items. I would also have a big warming oven, maybe a hot lamp station, too, and a plate warmer, dishwasher and sink. Then the dishes of food and plates could be kept piping hot, ready to serve and out of the way in the kitchen. Everything could be staged there and ready to take into the dining room. A wine fridge would be great, too. I don’t like dining in the pandemonium of a huge, open-plan space, especially if there is a TV in it.

  30. K Taylor on June 10, 2022 at 10:57 pm

Love this video filled with beautiful kitchen images! And, oh my, how I love veined marble. My kitchen has granite counters and backsplash which I also love because they also are a beautiful, natural material.

  31. Lucy Braun on June 10, 2022 at 10:59 pm

Green? Just no. Likewise with blue. Too trendy. I don’t want to be re-doing my kitchen in a heartbeat. That’s no small price tag! Color needs to be added through decor pieces, like wall art or towels. Keep kitchen colors more neutral for a stronger resale value, because you just never know when you are going to have to move.

  32. Lucy Braun on June 10, 2022 at 11:00 pm

Wish I had more room for a more extensive pantry. I suppose my lower cabinets will have to do, but I have managed to find ways to make functional kitchen items look more like decor so that things don’t look too cluttered, but more on display.

  33. Lucy Braun on June 10, 2022 at 11:00 pm

Statement marble? Don’t we all tire of a statement after it’s had its moment? I know I do. No, thanks. That look is going to trend out in a heartbeat.

  34. Joanne Sliteris on June 10, 2022 at 11:05 pm

Would have been better to focus more time on the actual pictures of the rooms vs the speaker. I wanted to observe more in depth the rooms themselves.

  35. Lucy Braun on June 10, 2022 at 11:07 pm

Not a fan of double sink basins. From a usage standpoint, they are too limiting, and from an aesthetic standpoint, they break up the counterspace too much, and make it look smaller.

  36. Nancy M on June 10, 2022 at 11:08 pm

    Another great video Chickee!

  38. Kristina on June 10, 2022 at 11:11 pm

I’ve never liked open plans. I grew up with a home with a semi-formal dining room and if I had money, I would buy a home with a definite foyer and a formal dining room! Now, don’t use my ideas as yours. ; )

  39. Claudia Miller on June 10, 2022 at 11:14 pm

Why don’t the kitchen designers I’ve talked to just listen to me in regards to what I want in my kitchen…not what THEY think I need?? This only wastes my time! My husband is a bit OCD….he’s the cook and I’ll make sure he gets what’s comfortable for him…so I don’t want a dammed thing changed in my current space….it just needs new, one-for-one properly sized and installed replacement cabinets! I tell the design people this up front….yet we always go down the “this is newer…that’s old fashioned….that’s not the best choice for maximizing the space….bla-bla-blah” road. Yet try to just get cabinet prices out of these people without going thru the whole designer song-and-dance….you’d think you were asking for unobtainable, secret info…it’s not! It’s a price for a product! Small local places are no better than the Big Box stores….at least here in Charlotte. It is blazingly clear to me, once again, why I gave up on this project 2 years ago..other than Covid…I don’t have the personality to deal with designers and it will be far too expensive to hire a contractor to manage the job. This should be a wonderful, fun experience…not a terrible drudge I hate to face. Sorry for this rant…thanks for listening and not judging!!

New subscriber here! Love what you are sharing. Gosh, I Hate open concept homes!!! Thanks for the ideas to sort of remedy that. You have to buy an old home these days if you don’t want an open concept house.
Chickee has been my nickname since I was tint by my big brother… you are the only other Chickee I’ve met😁
