make a feature wall under $100 – budget DIY interior design

In this video i will show you how to transform a boring plain wall into a creative designed accent / feature wall. Follow this step by step interior design process to create a living room makeover. This DIY project is perfect on a budget (with or without ryobi nailer ) and is very similar to wainscoting and will cost under $100 to complete with very basic or little experience and tools. The color of the paint used is taupe white quarter. This is a perfect way for anyone to create an accent /feature wall or change the home decor on a budget and the results before and after results are amazing. This project can be done without a nail gun buy using glue or hammer and nails however the use of my ryobi brad nailer as you can tell makes the job so easy and fast

Hi super super awesome! But my question. Just out of curiosity . Could you have frame them all up with like construction glue the nail to the wall… Im new to this but would like to try it in bedroom .

  2. Kelly on July 24, 2022 at 12:42 am

What texture is on your walls out of curiosity? Knockdown? Orange peel? Something else? Looks amazing. I would be worried that it would look odd with my knockdown texture.

Awesome tutorial!! I will measure and figure this out in feet so Home Depot can do the cutting for me. Thanks so much!

Hi, what about the electric outlet wires behind the wall. Would the nails hit the wires?

  6. Hannah Swann on July 24, 2022 at 12:46 am

    You are handsome! 👀

I know it’s satisfying to scrape flush with the filler, but don’t. It’s gonna shrink either way, you need to leave it proud. If you don’t, you risk missing some spots that are just slight indents, rather than a visible hole – and that will carry through the paint and be VERY visible.

many drills that are practical to use, easy to carry, do a good job

  12. Naur M. A on July 24, 2022 at 12:59 am

Nicely done. Is it necessary to cut at angles? Can we use straight paneling on all fours sides so that there in one just placed horizontally right on top and then on bottom of two vertical strips? To make these rectangular panels across the wall?

Why the music? Can’t you adjust the volume?

  21. Ashley Mckendree on July 24, 2022 at 1:10 am

GREAT info, thank you! But PLEASE reduce the horrible background music to 90% of whatever it is, I had to turn the volume so low I could barely understand you.

Hei. Dette var den beste forklarte videoen hittil. Profesjonelt og ikke minst fantastisk. Mange takk

I appreciate the amount of care you took in providing simple detailed instructions. I am inspired by your video and will be using it as a future reference when I construct my own decorative wall accent pieces in my future home. I am very glad to have stumbled onto your video, and I wish you continued success on your Youtube channel
Would you kindly consider making a tuturial on how to create wall accent pieces in French baroque style? I would greatly appreciate it.

I’m working on a wainscoting project now and you’ve inspired me to start using the metric system. We Americans torture ourselves with feet and inches

  25. Giora Shqvit on July 24, 2022 at 1:15 am

    Grea5 explanation, thank you

  26. PLF on July 24, 2022 at 1:15 am

If the baseboard is not level, don’t force level with your panels. It’s going to look silly. Correct the baseboards first. Either way, you need to follow the angle.

  27. Brady Guy on July 24, 2022 at 1:16 am

I love this style, I can’t figure why did we get away from beautiful interior design especially if it can be this cheap. It’s much better than a boring plaster wall.

  28. Glen Butler on July 24, 2022 at 1:16 am

Love the show-as-you-go tutorial.. and fantastic end results!.. about that annoying music for 19 minutes and 42 seconds. 😩😵 otherwise, great job and I’m impressed that you were able to cut those frames with a hand saw!

  29. Concordeagle on July 24, 2022 at 1:16 am

Hi .. can you please tell the size of your timber moulding?? Width & thickness

  32. Meer Zagr on July 24, 2022 at 1:19 am

What’s the name of machine you are using ?

  33. gsf67 on July 24, 2022 at 1:21 am

You’ve inspired me to do this. I used to go into old hotels, and see this feature. I wondered how they did this. In Australia, this project would cost less than $100. In NZ, it would cost so much more, because our price for timber is through the roof, even though we grow the bloody stuff over here.

  34. vanaxel on July 24, 2022 at 1:21 am

So u haven’t taken into consideration the thickness of the mouldings?

  35. Brian Hewitt on July 24, 2022 at 1:22 am

Can’t watch any longer due to stupid music

  36. Pauley We atwhere on July 24, 2022 at 1:22 am

Just a quick ask on the nailer, looks like a 15ga on the link, is 18ga Brad nailer a safer option to not blow through?

  37. Mecit Karaaslan on July 24, 2022 at 1:22 am

hello, take it easy, you can write the brand and name of the drill you have, thank you

  38. pasha shami on July 24, 2022 at 1:22 am

Great job Bill. What are the dimensions of this wall?

  39. ClearlyRebecca on July 24, 2022 at 1:25 am

Oh wow! Thank you so much for doing this. This is exactly what I want for our billiard room. And I know I can do it myself! It just came out beautifully! I love the strips you chose and everything, it’s just timeless!

  43. Alexandra Annaloro on July 24, 2022 at 1:30 am

Where do we get the wood from?

  44. rb b on July 24, 2022 at 1:32 am

are you nailing that to the stud or just to sheetrock?

  45. Naweed Shirzai on July 24, 2022 at 1:32 am

    That’s cool bro 😎
    Thanks a lot 🙌🏼

  46. Grant Harris on July 24, 2022 at 1:33 am

    Ya I gotta use ‘ and “ and a couple of fingers/toes.
Loved the spacer tip, used that when I built our basement. However that was 25 years ago and we used dinosaur bones to measure.

We have an excellent opportunity for an feature wall. I’m a lot older and wiser, which is why I’m asking for HELP. With age also came two strokes, a surgery or two or three ( losing count – memory, that’s another problem! ) and was recently rear ended by a dump truck. Wife was told only reason I survived was the dump truck was empty and fire truck was across the road. They cut me out, worked on me and delivered me to the hospital before I woke up. I missed the entire thing – BLESSING 😇

The hallway is 15 ft long X 9 ft high rectangle . There are 3 wall plugs and 2 light switches and the Mrs would love squares or rectangles. Keeping symmetry, level/square would be nice ( ya think ?! ), however a modern pattern would be easier.
As rudimentary as your drawing was it was simple and easy to follow/understand. Maybe it my age, eyes, patience etc. The only thing that hasn’t diminished with age ( keep it PG ) is my love for my wife. SOOOooo I’d kinda like to surprise her and maybe even myself

    Thank Q

  47. R. B. on July 24, 2022 at 1:34 am

After watching this, I feel like doing this right now and I don’t even have a wall.

  48. Cinthya Tamayo on July 24, 2022 at 1:36 am

What’s the name of the primer you put over the paint so the paint can stick?

  49. Neeraj Kumar on July 24, 2022 at 1:38 am

Which material you used for making this French wall . And also what adhesive you used to cover gaps and over nails . Thirdly while nailing wood dont break as our Interior guy said it will break if we do nails on top of corners

  50. Summerwind on July 24, 2022 at 1:38 am

    Are you nailing into Sheetrock????
