Making My Own DIY F1 Mini Tyre!

Making My Own DIY F1 Mini Tyre!

Pirelli’s Wind Tunnel Tyres look awesome but they cost £700 each…
So I decided to make my own using go kart tyres, 3D printing and spray paint, all to fit within a £150 budget!

  3. ok then on June 7, 2022 at 10:12 pm

it’ll probably be far more expensive but see if you can get one printed or cast in metal

7:08 that’s why should always remove the masking tape right after you are finished spraying, when its still wet. that way it doesn’t dry to the tape and leave uneven edges when removed.

Where did you get the 3d model from?

  8. Lewis Matthews on June 7, 2022 at 10:19 pm

For the painting, use a white spray paint to create a base, that will make the red far brighter. Other than that, this is freaking amazing!

  9. Sean Clark on June 7, 2022 at 10:19 pm

could you use that mini tire as a real tire on a go cart?

Why not 3D print the entire thing?

  15. Franz Rupert on June 7, 2022 at 10:27 pm

I also made one with a tyre 7.1 inches wide. I also found the original 3D model you modified and printed the wheel nut separately.

Next time use a white primer under the lettering. Will make the red pop more.

  20. Jack Mossman on June 7, 2022 at 10:31 pm

Who has a link to the tire

  21. thedandude on June 7, 2022 at 10:31 pm

£92 for that print!? Not far off just buying your own entry-level printer at £200

  23. SpeedFreak1988 on June 7, 2022 at 10:33 pm

    wow only wow

  29. David Phoenix on June 7, 2022 at 10:43 pm

That banding isn’t from the 3D printing process, it’s because there wasn’t enough detail in the 3D model

  30. Basti Alba on June 7, 2022 at 10:44 pm

Maybe not perfect but it´s a very clean result anyway. Great job!

  31. Ilya Epel on June 7, 2022 at 10:46 pm

    Great job!

  32. TrialMester Gaming on June 7, 2022 at 10:47 pm

  33. Fjutcha on June 7, 2022 at 10:48 pm

Funny thing is… with those 90£ you can just buy a whole 3d printer 😂

  34. Charles Morales on June 7, 2022 at 10:49 pm

THANK YOU SO MUCH! You are a real one!

  35. MooyMusic_ on June 7, 2022 at 10:50 pm

A really really cool design, mabey you could’ve sanded the wand of the tyre to remove the little things there, but its very nice anyway!

  36. Solitide on June 7, 2022 at 10:50 pm

You should put white under the red and get a better looking red color.

  37. Manny S on June 7, 2022 at 10:51 pm

    YASS. I love it!

  38. Tyler Dando-Laurence on June 7, 2022 at 10:51 pm

  42. Ice Cream Studios on June 7, 2022 at 10:56 pm

F1 be like: No, this isn’t how your supposed to play the game.

  43. #sv5 on June 7, 2022 at 10:56 pm

I use a mark forged and form labs printer the form labs one has lots of material resins and goes to about 100 microms so it is very smooth

  44. jezMki on June 7, 2022 at 10:57 pm

if you wanted a more vivid red color, after the primer, use white spray paint then the red

  45. ThisIsATreeHaNoImJustKidding on June 7, 2022 at 10:59 pm

Dunlop: Do I look like a joke to you?

  46. Simon Clarke on June 7, 2022 at 11:00 pm

Excellent. For just over £90 you could buy your own 3D printer. The person printing it used a multifaceted design instead of a round one, that could be a lot better.

  47. Michael Fortier on June 7, 2022 at 11:00 pm

Suggestion for a remake of this : make a 2 part rim so that it actually goes over the tire bead and is glued together in the center. It’s ok for somebody with no fabrication skills, but a few key improvements would make this much better :).

  48. romeo vidal rodriguez on June 7, 2022 at 11:02 pm

hola me gustó mucho el video

  49. Cameron F1 on June 7, 2022 at 11:03 pm

    Incredible

  50. leatherworkstation on June 7, 2022 at 11:04 pm

You could get a better, rounder print with less faceting with different software. STLs when saved need to be told a tolerance. The default tolerances are crap for 3D printing, I lost a batch of resin prints to that.
