Motorcycle Camping Across America by Backroad and Byway – Part I: The West
Motorcycle Camping Across America by Backroad and Byway – Part I: The West
Coast-to-coast-to-coast motorcycle camping trip on my 2000 Honda Valkyrie, Buffalo, in the summer of 2021. I started in San Diego, crossed the Rockies and the Great Plains and ended in New York for a week to attend two weddings.
A week later, I left NYC for Washington DC and then for San Diego traveling down the Natchez Trace Parkway through the South before turning West across Texas. I did very few interstate miles. The trip consisted mainly of backroads and scenic byways across America; small towns and rural places. I tried to camp as often as I could, but every 2-3 days I would take an inn to do laundry and shower up.
Part I: From San Diego, CA to Sioux City, IA

Oddly comedic and relaxing
The herd reminded you you had some jerky…lol
I hope you will post a video how you smoke your pipe next to that gorgeous Valkyrie ❗️
Super nice video ❗️

Wild ride – hopefully soon !
When I motorcycle travel I prefer no windshield, and a open face helmet. I purposely don’t trim my nose hairs for six months prior. That way the big parts of the bugs don’t go up my nose. Only the juice. It’s a motorcyclists own brand of tea.
Thanks for video you picked great bike for long distance traveling have new balcony myself
Any highways you would skip/avoid if you did it over again?
You pick perfect bite for serious long riding hassle free
Thanks for letting us know your vids are up😊. Love the music! Very relaxing. Was it difficult editing the footage with so much beautiful scenery to sort through? Just returned from two weeks in Bisbee. New project there😎
Ya boiiii!
Subscribed. Living in an small island in the Pacific wishing I could ride across America. Ride safe
really cool video
Like watching a movie. Awesome stuff on editing, music, details and non conventional way of big adventure bikes but just a cruiser and just go!! Your half helmet, scarf, sunglasses, photo of Jesus, sceneries and music. 👍 I like!
I like your huaraches.
Very nice ride, beautiful bike. Tastefully done with the classical music!!
God I want a Valkerie before they are all gone ! Rode one years ago and have been in love ever since.

This popped up in my video lists. Excellent! The Valkyrie is a beautiful bike. (And I’m a fan of classical music)
Interesting, at 15.49, the formation of the mountain from earthquakes gone past.
Home Grown???
Thanks for the video, I need to buy a camera, I bought and ride a 1999 Valkyrie and never enjoyed riding as much as I do now, I always rode Harley-Davidson, I go Coast to Coast once a year and that Valkyrie never let me down and is so comfortable but I need a camera to record my ride, what do you use a go pro ?
nice videos,cheers from Argentina
You’re rocking that keffiyeh like a boss. Great video, looking forward to seeing more of the trip.
What a great video.
After suffering a combat related illness that has taken me out of the workforce I have bought my Valkyrie and am soon to embark on a similar adventure. Thanks for an excellent video of your journey. Hope to join your experience this year. 👍
