I’m completely blind. I’m attempting to redo my 1300 square-foot apartment, but I haven’t seen literally anything since 2010. Everything from 2010 will forever look up to date in my head, and I hate it. Thank you for being so detailed. It makes my guessing game feel like a little bit less of a guess. Lol.

2 favorites here :The black with green cactus ! Also wood wall with stone sinks !

  3. Soapy Dragon on January 26, 2023 at 4:50 am

Nobody really likes to shower in a glass shower. See through, hard to clean. Also this look went out last year.

  4. maggie maranzana on January 26, 2023 at 4:53 am

Tip: wipe with baby oil after cleaning faucets and the shine shine shine.

For bathroom rugs, look at Ruggables (or similar), which offers machine wash rugs. (Also, moisture not much of an issue in dry climates.) We have a Ruggables in our bathroom and it’s so much nicer on the foot than the tile it covers.

Terrazzo tile is horrible looking, it reminds me of a school in the 70s. Thank you for the tip about open faucets, we were talking about getting them for our master bath, we have hard water so yeah, they’d be nasty in no time.

  7. Rosemary Waigh on January 26, 2023 at 4:57 am

I’m with you about that ghastly shade of olive green, James.

  8. Michelle Graham on January 26, 2023 at 5:01 am

Watching bathroom trends in my mint tiled bathroom with floral wallpaper

  9. Oliphaunts Never Lie on January 26, 2023 at 5:02 am

Looks like the bathroom trends are going to be as ugly as the economy in 2023… 😁

  10. Jean Vignes on January 26, 2023 at 5:03 am

Yep. Open spouts are yucky. Enough said.

  11. catherine MASAK on January 26, 2023 at 5:03 am

Merry Christmas James from the paint people

  12. Madonna Hagedorn on January 26, 2023 at 5:05 am

When I was looking for faucets, my husband chose one of those open spouts. I said, "No way." We also have mineral and lime build up and it would it would awful soon enough. I did not want a tall bowl for a sink either because I’m too short to reach over it. There are some designs that look interesting in a photograph, but really aren’t practical for everyday family use.

This vid was more of him complaining instead of giving any good information on the trends

  14. Susie Q Rash on January 26, 2023 at 5:07 am

    Bathroom 7 x 7!

  15. Gilly Squeeze on January 26, 2023 at 5:09 am

Open spout water filter for that

  16. Cecile Morgan on January 26, 2023 at 5:10 am

Hate that terrazzo tile! I would love for people to do what makes pleasing to their eye. That’s what my trend is! Just saying 😅

  17. pietro antonelli on January 26, 2023 at 5:10 am

You know I love your channel… My wife’s family has a place right outside of Rome and they completely redid the bathroom kitchen and I was wondering if you would ever contemplate doing an episode on micro cement or even tadalekt… Again love your channel

  18. Mama T on January 26, 2023 at 5:11 am

When will the tub in the primary for resale purposes be over? I would rather use that space for a huge shower

  19. Rob Coombes on January 26, 2023 at 5:12 am

As someone who takes baths daily, i think freestanding tubs are installed by people who don’t actually take baths themselves. So uncomfortable compared to a well designed drop-in.

  20. Mary Paquette on January 26, 2023 at 5:12 am

After everyone became tired of gold tone fixtures, the designers and manufactures said time to make more money, let’s convince the next generation that what ever is current that they should have he latest? Trend.( ya let’s do it they are to dumb to know what they like, it worked! And it will work again, it always does, think for😮 yourself!

    Another great episode 🙂

Just a comment, question. I was surprised not to see a wet room with shower and/or with a free-standing bathtub. Has it gone out of style?

  22. Sara McDowell on January 26, 2023 at 5:15 am

Is anyone really tired of gray? Or is it just me?

  23. cl west on January 26, 2023 at 5:17 am

I love the look of glass shower panel but without a major shower plumbing remodel, how do you get your water up to temp without freezing water shock therapy right before your real steamy shower? Are they busy moving the shower head every time before they turn on the water?

  24. Card Crazed on January 26, 2023 at 5:22 am

I can remember in the 1970s, most public spaces that I went to had terrazzo flooring.. in linoleum, or maybe vinyl..in squares. The scale of the colour splatter though, was much, much smaller than what I see today. When I see terrazzo, I think of my childhood. Puke/dark baby poop green is just disgusting, and some designers keep pushing it. My inlaws bathroom in a house they rented had1970s avocado in it, similar to what was on that tile. Our bathroom is white, light grey with black accents. NO NATURAL LIGHT in that room, so we kept it pretty light. The light grey is because our shower curtain has a slate grey image on it… it’s almost black, but not quite. trying to save enough money to take out the built in tub, and replace it with the same size as the tub shower stall. None of us in the family can/like to tub soak, so NOT having to climb over the tub would be nice 🙂

After looking at houses on Zillow today I have one plea to everyone: Please, for the love of all that is holy, do NOT put carpet in your bathroom! (Or kitchen, or entry, or sauna…)

  26. Cortney Overstreet on January 26, 2023 at 5:24 am

    Thoughts on bathroom wallpaper please….?😊

  27. Tammy Graham on January 26, 2023 at 5:25 am

NOUGAT! Yes! I couldn’t put my finger on what it reminded me of until you said it, and I literally said YES! outloud! Yeah, I’m not a fan. Of either the tile or nougat. Love your channel!

  28. Linda Matus on January 26, 2023 at 5:29 am

That terrazzo – oof. And I LIKE the terrazzo of old that was much smaller specks and softer.

  29. Joelle Aittama on January 26, 2023 at 5:29 am

I have bronze faucets in my master. Built my house in 2001, and still love them.

  30. Teresa Angelena on January 26, 2023 at 5:30 am

    Agreed

  31. Philip Ketchum on January 26, 2023 at 5:30 am

I had an open spout faucet once. Never again.

  32. Donna on January 26, 2023 at 5:32 am

James you are making things so much easier for us. 👏 👏 👏

  33. amsterdamsel on January 26, 2023 at 5:33 am

I dislike the terrazzo tile intensely. It *does* look like nougat! I’m currently planning to update a condo from the 90s that I purchased. The place is bathed in ‘golden oak’ cupboards, doors/frames, and woodwork. It fairly screams 90s style. This channel is really helpful.

  34. JoRiver11 on January 26, 2023 at 5:34 am

I lived somewhere with one of those open spout faucets and I didn’t like it at all. Sometimes you want a bit of water pressure in your bathroom sink.
They look cool in a nice restaurant bathroom, but that’s about all I can see them being good for… basic hand washing.

  35. Soapy Dragon on January 26, 2023 at 5:36 am

    Terrazzo went out last year.

  36. rockshot100 on January 26, 2023 at 5:37 am

I like hearing this advice from another guy. Easier to understand and to the point. Less flowery language. VERY practical advice, he keeps maintenance in mind, like the hard water build up on matte fixtures, even brushed nickel is hard to keep up with, what is wrong with chrome? Although I like Lisa as well.

  37. 70’slady Always on January 26, 2023 at 5:38 am

I’m currently building so ALL these videos are so helpful!! Have a Happy New Year 🎉

  38. maggie maranzana on January 26, 2023 at 5:38 am

Glass showers ugh so hard to clean. I like the obscure enclosure

  39. Leah Forster Gauvin on January 26, 2023 at 5:38 am

Totally agree about those open faucets!

  40. Steve Jellison on January 26, 2023 at 5:39 am

    Bidets

  41. David Hill on January 26, 2023 at 5:40 am

Your bathroom design really have no true concepts designs for me! sorry!

  42. Jackie O on January 26, 2023 at 5:40 am

I don’t get the free standing tub. Not really practical.

  43. Carol Gallagher on January 26, 2023 at 5:40 am

Make sure you wax on wax off those shower doors.!😊Rain-X works best.

  44. Julie Jelaco on January 26, 2023 at 5:41 am
