Clicked on this because i absolutely HATE white kitchens. Especially when people buy super old homes and rip out every last bit of character to slap in only white things.
Flat cabinet reminds me of 1970 apartment look
No, that multi color cabinet abortion at 5:00 doesn’t work, it is horrible.
I like wood cabinets — they are more like furniture….
You have collected a lot of data aka WISDOM…….
I’m so sick of all these "designers" telling us what’s IN and OUT every couple of years, it’s nothing but a money game to get people to spend thousands on redecorating and renovating their homes. So now all these people who redid their kitchens in white a couple years ago because designers said it was IN are now being told their beautiful new white $50,000 + kitchen is now OUT. That’s so ridiculous. Stop listening to them! Do what makes you happy.
Great video! If you haven’t heard of Brent Hull u should check him out, u seem like a guy that likes to have a wealth of knowledge….. and if you haven’t heard of him, you’re welcome lol
Panel door mixed with slab door. Will definitely look like a yard sale kitchen. Different styles from different yard sale.
My kitchen was all-wood and designed in 2006. The wood is rustic knotty cherry with no stain, they’re beautiful but with age there’s a lot of yellow and orange tones and with the floor being the same wood, it was a lot of wood. I just had my upper cabinets painted SW Aged White last week and it’s absolutely gorgeous! Warm but not yellow and it does a perfect job of toning down all the wood. It’s classic and definitely not trendy, which as an interior designer I think is a good thing and I’m sure I’ll continue to love it for many years.
I’m a kitchen designer and I absolutely DESPISE white kitchens!! But, if that’s what my client(s) want, that’s what they shall receive.
As goes for my decor in all my rooms in my home, I try to follow outside nature. My lounge faces South so my walls are painted partly a pale green to cool things down a little. My kitchen faces North so is lemon to heat things up a bit. My bedrooms are painted mostly cool, restful colours to promote sleep etc, etc so think these factors definitely have to be taken into consideration. All the kitchens shown in my opinion to not reflect true family life. Little toddlers dashing about easily crash their wee heads on all those sharp edges of tables etc . Go with what makes you happy. White if you like living inside a white cloud all the time. Give me sunshine.
Yes let’s all paint our cabinets lime green and lavender and install wood slats all over the fronts so that designers can sit and laugh at how ridiculous it looks next year and tell everyone to change it. I think they just like to see what they can actually make people do.
Trend setting for clothes is one thing, but trends that perpetuate cost prohibitive remodels such as kitchens is reflective of this highly disposable society. I honestly think that a white kitchen can be timeless if mixed with dark wood shelving, chairs table etc. White kitchens were in during the beginning of the century and into the art deco period, a timeless color.
Slab cabinets look too Ikea.
I love white kitchens, they stand the test of time.
Just depends on what design your house is, I’ve a stone house ,modern just won’t go.
ew they’re ugly
I love love love white kitchens!
Trends are just a way to keep people spending money.
Just do what you love!
Its entirely non scientific how a color can be desirable one year but not the next – the only reason is to a way to keep selling more items to the weak minded
I enjoy the slat LOOK, but maybe not practical for all the grease and dust that accumulates in a kitchen. I think they’d be better suited for a bedroom or living area. Still beautiful though.
White kitchen still the best. Don’t want a dark kitchen. Need light as that is usually the center of the home. Dark wood just seems clinical and boring.
i like white cabinets for simple fact that they can be played up or down with paint or accessories. I took a painting that i loved (which hung in my dining room) & i drew colors out of it. but my main items (cabinets, flooring) remained neutral & lighter tones…to me it make my small kitchen larger but also brighter.
Do you have a fragrance channel?
We have flipped 10+ multimillion dollar homes and a white kitchen with a only a little nod to Hamptons always sells the house off market within a couple of weeks, time and time again. Several of my kitchens have also been used for TV commercials featuring Heston Blumenthal and Jamie Oliver.
White will stay. Colors are trendy
Interesting the US kitchen trends seem to be 5 years behind Europe. The green and dual tone kitchens were really fashionable in the 2010s. And I saw this wooden kitchens were a big deal
in Nordic countries a few years back but I imagine with the scandis wooden kitchens of all types are always in.
I always love white kitchen regardless of the trend..
Yup…I’m over the all white kitchen
I LOVE my white kitchen! We painted it only last year . It’s so bright. We have a busy kitchen floor because although our house (1961) has beautiful, original hardwood floors, they didn’t put them in the kitchen and dining. It’s a large, open area so I did something a bit more dramatic. Our white kitchen compliments it perfectly!
You can trace trends until you’re broke and in so much debt. It’s not worth it. I love timeless instead.
Slab cabinets… not for me
I’ve been the past 20 plus, fucking, years longing for us to move away from friggen, all white and open concept. It’s been the deadest, driest, most iffen, boring period in interior design in modern history and maybe, ever.
For Christ sake, bring BACK, the colour, vibrancy and richness already, as we’ve been going down this damn, dead, dry and boring road long enough now. Out.
I want to see James clean those slatted cabinets.
Trends will come and go. Not everyone can afford to change things every year or so. White cabinets are always fresh, light, and clean. One adds color through accessories which is cost effective.
As a child I grew up in a dark wood kitchen. We were considered poor. I despise any kind of a kitchen that isn’t white or light. Do what YOU like and I’ll do what I like.
You showed a lot of butcher block, but that’s not practical right? It’s susceptible to so many damages from normal use. Right??? That’s why I just laminate
Yeah that’s WAAAAAY too white…… I like white cabinets, but if they’re white that is the only thing I want to see white
Great video sir. Couldn’t believe my favourite fragrance reviewer has found a new niche and now I will follow you here. Great job but I still miss your fragrance reviews. 😢
What a time waste
Should I consider painting a light colour satin finish in my Apartment. Thanks again
porn room
I love my white kitchen bc it will always look clean. I love love how bright and happy it is.
Instead of wood slats as a decorative item on traditional hinged doors, I think tambour door cabinets would be amazing and their slats functional.
i did a grey kitchen with white countertop and flooring and oceanblue backsplash.. its stunning. i got the class and colour.
sorry hideous 1970s kitchen cabinets No!
Does the white cabinets have Satin finish? Thanks 🙏
I love white kitchens
I feel like white kitchens will stand the test of time, but I definitely like the idea of adding natural elements to enhance the all-white kitchen. We have wood floors that help break up the monotony of the white, and I’d like to add a natural wood top to our little bar that divides the kitchen and dining room. Other than that, keeping everything all white – cabinets, counters, and backsplash.
I’ve been in the multi-family housing industry for over 10 years now. White kitchens will always be in style in this field. If you’re building a house, choose whatever color you like.
White kitchens are a classic. They go with most decor choices. You can dress them up or down. Best advice is to do what you like and do it well. Be proud of your home.🏠
Yes, choose what you like and not worry about the so called trends!
