Hi all, thanks for stopping in! If you like this video make sure and give a few of my others a peak! I hope you find this helpful in your reno or diy journey!
In this video I will show you how I took peel and stick vinyl floor and created a really pretty herringbone pattern feature wall in my most recent office renovation! Its was a pretty quick and easy project and great for beginners as well!
Materials needed:
1: Peel and stick vinyl flooring – I used this:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Style-Selections-1-piece-6-in-X-36-in-Driftwood-Peel-and-Stick-Vinyl-Plank-Flooring/999957677
2: a speed square or carpenters square
3: box cutter or blade for cutting/scoring the vinyl
4: pencil
5: Brad nails (removable) or adhesive (permanent wall) for fixing the pieces to the wall.
I did learn in this process that the adhesive on the back of the tiles is not strong enough to hold the tiles to the wall which is why you will need short (3/4 inch) brad nails or adhesive to help secure them longer term. I wanted mine removeable so I decided to go with nails rather then adhesive.
Thanks so much for tuning in and let me know if you have any questions. You can find me on other social media outlets as well like Instagram, Facebook, or Tiktok @eternalharvestdecor
Fyi most glues on tiles like that are pressure activated. So you need to use a roller to press them into the wall to activate the adhesive.
The factory adhesive on the vinyl plank is supposed to be rolled over with a heavy roller or hand pressure roller. Can also before peeling back paper off , use a hair dryer to the paper side for couple minutes to make tile adhesive really sticky…works
Happens to me today never done wood laminate peel n stick finish a whole wall two hours later one fell 10 min after the first all started to fall down didn’t know what else to do thanks for the tip
I have been wanting to do this for a couple of projects (kitchen backsplash and now my bathroom). Would like to see more detail on inside and outside corners if you do more than one wall. And ceiling and floor. I’m guessing for floor removing and replacing baseboard.
Hi i love your project!! How Much did it cost for your size of wall? And so how many packages of peel and stick wood did you purchase? 😊 last question how did you manage to put the electricity thing on? Thanks!
Great info and well delivered, thank you..
Question! On the second piece at the ceiling did you cut it because when I did this mine didn’t lay flush?
BEAUTIFUL!! You totally gave me the idea that I was looking for!! 🙌🏽
You did an awesome job!
awesome God bless you.
Hi, do you think these would stuck on shiny oil based painted wall as well? X
Looks good. You can also use a Brad nailer to ensure they stay up. Especially in a kids room where they can bump into it or throw balls against the wall or even with different seasons and temperatures and humidity. The brads will be a just in case scenario. Great job tho. I’m going to try this as a ceiling feature I think.
Wish my wife could do what u can do
Did you use a J roller on the planks after installing them? I have seen a few other videos and tutorials that recommend that. Thanks for the video!
It’s a triangle .
Looks fantastic new subscriber
Great video. What nailgun did you use?
Absolutely Gorgeous! Can I use these on knockdown texture wall.? Thanks
I love this idea 💡
Wow! It looks amazing!!! ❣️
I bet that’s shiney when the sun is popping through hih?
It’s amazing 👌🏻🇬🇧
👏👏👏👏
Great idea I’m going to do my whole bedroom love the work
This is a truly nice finish well done
thank you so much for the info, your amazing and we love you.
Please help!!
You are my new favorite YouTube personality! All the qualities of a true diva start with DIY, right? In the past year, I’ve gone from being a person who owned a drill but reserved it for someone else’s use to someone who keeps 4 batteries in meticulous rotation. (Balance is an elusive !@#$% that escapes me every time!) About the peel& stick tile…my kitchen floor is self-adhesive tiles from Lowes that have been down over a DECADE. Everyone I tell that it’s peel & stick are SHOCKED. It’s held up beautifully, and I’m not exactly Mr. Clean around here either…it’s gotten no special treatment, and there are ZERO signs telling it’s self-adhesive tiles or that it’s been down 10+ years, and I live through four Southern VA seasons every year. As much as it pains me to say it, my ex put it down, and he said then, "If it’s done right, it will last. Get in there and look pretty." I did as I was told, and unlike everything else he said, his word was good on this one! With all that said, putting them on the wall is a whole different story simply because of gravity. I can also attest to the double adhesive=repellent reaction… It had not occurred to me to pin them to the wall like you did. Brilliant! I have a STACK of tiles very similar to yours I got on clearance at walmart for $5/box, and I see a herringbone feature something in my very near future! I’m off to continue my Eternal Harvest Decor binge! Catch ya in the tool section! 🙂
Hey how did the vinyl hold up with the nails.. did they cause the vinyl to crack? I am thinking about putting nails in mine cause liquid nails is not working
Was this expensive
Nice job .
Wow your gorgeous 😍 Good job on the wall 👍🏾
Wall base adhesive/ floor base adhesive. Either is in the aisle where you bought your flooring. You’re welcome!
Do the tiles come with adhesive sticky back, or do you use special glue?
If we do Gorilla Glue do we also need to do nails or no
Beautiful!
It looks great! I can’t tell for sure from the video but does your wall have any texture at all? Your ceiling obviously does, but it looks like you might have a smooth, no texture wall. My walls have an orange peel texture, so I’m wondering if this would work without adhesive. Anyone?
Thank you for saving me!
So I saw your video and I brought some floor tiles but they kept coming up in the end we ended up using double sided nano tape
The reason why they fell off is because u needed to roll them on with preasure afterwards. That is a kinda activiator of the glue they come with …
Best video of how to start the pattern on YouTube!
The adhesive tip is helpful thank you
The adhesive on the vinyls is just good enough to hold it on the wall. But if you want them to glue them together you have to install like a piece of plywood. This way you don’t have to use nails and you can get a cleaner job. To glue the vinyls tiles all you have to do is to heat them. A hair dryer works just fine. If you use another glue to the back of the vinyls that creates a chemical reaction between the glues and they will fall off of the wall.at least that’s what happened to me… I thought I should share this with you and everyone here.. good luck and nice work 👍
Wow I really like the herringbone pattern…looks high end…do you use less or more product doing it that way ?
Could this be used on a ceiling?
Hello, would 23 gauge nails work or should I use 18 gauge?
None of these videos have the problem of wall texture from paint. Cant figure how to get them to stick.
You did a good job, thanks for your tutorial.
Thank you for this video and sharing what nails you used! We just did a feature wall in my living room yesterday and I woke up this morning to multiple pieces missing. My poor dog is terrified of the living room now hahahha! We did put an adhesive on the back of the vinyl and they still fell. So now we will be nailing them! Great video, THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Can this be placed in a kitchen backsplash nearest stove? Do you know if these are heat resistant?
