It wasn’t too long ago that I was skimming Airbnb and found something odd…someone was renting a tipi. But the real question was: Were the owners of this off-grid structure actually making money? Well, yes they were. Some quick math showed me they were making thousands of dollars per month through this new trend called Glamping.
What is Glamping? Put simply, it’s glamorous camping. It’s an elevated outdoor experience. Instead of sleeping in 10º weather in a cheap vinyl tent, you’re now sleeping in an insulated canvas tent—complete with a memory foam mattress, mini-fridge and cast iron stove.
But are people actually willing to spend money to #glamp when they could just as easily rent a motel for the same price? I think the answer would surprise you. See, the thing is: People are seeking UNIQUE experiences more than ever. In an age where travel is a lot scarier than it used to be, people are looking to escape hotels, motels and lodges, so they can seclude themselves in Mother Nature. Away from all the hustle and bustle of city folk, traffic and light pollution.

Thank you for the videos. I have a question about how does appreciation work with those places or are we just counting on cash flow with this model ?
When your light went haywire in the back I thought you were just celebrating Halloween early. But question… would this do well even in winter months? This looks like something I would have an easier time starting with rather than diving head first into real estate.
Ppl are doing caves like crazy too
So…do you buy the land? How does that work?
Can we set up a Zoom?!
are you still doing this?
please let me know?
Thanks
You lease the land or buying it? What are those costs?
I just ordered my first canvas tent last week. Thank you for all the great videos and info!
I work for an air bnb glamping business by the grand Canyon. Off grid yurts.
DO people glamp on public or private land?
Exceppppptttt you have to own the land first fool.
Airbnb is not the only lodging option. Hotels, motels and bed & breakfasts still exist.
After visiting the San Bernardino County permit page for S.T. Rentals: "Yurts, tents, Campers, and RVs are not eligible for permits". Houses are still a go though. 👍🏼
I’m in the process of doing something like this…got the property, adding amenities. Luckily there are 4 to 5 tourists attractions within 8 miles. I was planning to add a few prefab homes…but this option maybe a possibility.
Loved your content and your website. I’m an interior designer who wants to travel working; interested in all about houses and buildings. I’d like to know how to invest in tiny houses, good locations… etc.
That teardop clip LOLLL
Thank you!
Where would you put the compostable toilet ? inside or outside the glamping site? especially because of winter? how would i be able to do glamp site in Pennsylvania ?
Thanks for the video – super cool concept and the ROI beats anything I’ve got going. Question – how would you organize the cleaning and maintenance logistics in a tent in the middle of the desert?
I really want to see this but in southern Cali where I live.. land here
Man you are thorough!
It’s only natural if phenomenon like this would come along until the cost of houses goes down
Nice. Subscribed.
amazing!!!
Hey, this might come off as a unique question. I am inspired by your efforts and knowledge on this topic. Would you be willing to mentor me on some advice on how I can get this started with my budget? Can I discuss this with you through email? Or, facebook chat?

Hi Robuilt, does land for glamping have to be commercial land?
That business is in tents.
Do these numbers not account for price of land though?
You better have A Outfitter’s License

Is there a link to the video you mention about where in the country you can set up a glamping site?

Are you buying the dirt underneath the tents? I’m not sure you mentioned that.
This is an awesome video and extremely informative. I really appreciate the way you communicate the facts. I would be interested in booking a one on one for more information if you are still offering that. 🤑
Try that Airbnb research in Europe… it’s a sad sad story.
I subscribed when you said what would you do but whiting in the ground😅
How do u get the land?
could you do a walk around maybe of your glamping sites and talk about the cost of it and like im curious on the bathrooms… do you have a septic system? or some one that comes out to clean them? i would love a walk around for sure and how to get it started and who to talk to first. like a list of how to get started. and the kind of property to buy.
