There really isn’t much of a choice without affordable housing💜it’s a dang shame that money comes before people in our society. WE ARE THE ONLY ANIMALS ON EARTH THAT USE MONEY😒

  2. Michael Du Pree on May 8, 2022 at 8:37 pm

Home is wherever you park? I’m sorry but if you work a full time career job you should be able to afford a decent place to live. A home.

Only one party believes in affordable housing and only one party is against it. But phuck that it’s all about abortion and the border. The GOP is as power as their voters are stupid, which means they are very powerful…….very indeed

Not everybody who does Van Life is slipping under the cracks. I’m a Software Engineer and work remotely. A lot of us are working professionals who don’t want to pay these prices for rent, simply put.

With rising rent, tenants can not afford and move out. So with rising costs it will leave empty apts and homes enabling squarters to move in and landlords with empty properties and that means no rental fees coming in. So big corporations owning townhomes etc they will lose big money trying to charge big money for rentals. Bottom line is no win. Rich trying to get richer by squeezing the working lower class or middle class.

  15. Tony Lee on May 8, 2022 at 8:54 pm

They had to do whatever it took. In this high tech society, Home owners are for couple with professional income only.It is out of reach for average labor working folks/

What they could do, is assume an accent, cross the Rio Grande, and come back as illegal immigrants. Then this govt under Biden will give them refugee status, provide them with enough money to rent an apartment, and help pay for the Van.

I was lucky to purchased my home before it got all crazy, and we now have over $100,000 in equity in the home. The normal response would be happiness, but me and my wife are just in shock. It is going to be very difficult for normal people in Florida to own a home moving forward. We are lucky that we started saving since 2018 for the home and got in when we did. If we did not have that foresight, we definitely would be in a difficult position. I wish everyone shelter. This truly saddens my heart to see fellow Floridians in such a tough position.

  29. Vince on May 8, 2022 at 9:03 pm

Our politicians are to blame for all this, they get their cut from developers to build these multi story so called “low income “ housing starting at 5-600,000, that is not low income, so many young and old people would benefit from becoming a home owner even buying a two bedroom condo for 2-300,000. Everything is out of reach

The vanlifers they feature are regular people doing their best to make a life for themselves. Very cool. But let’s be honest. The majority are insufferable meth heads.

The greatest country in the world! Where one significant visit to the hospital can wipe out your entire life saving and homes are too expensive for the ordinary person to afford. There’s no shortage of money to fight constant wars across the world though.

  40. Jason Lopez on May 8, 2022 at 9:18 pm

Those are beautiful mustangs proud of my family bringing those to Colorado.

  41. Margaret Ames on May 8, 2022 at 9:19 pm

I originally bought a home in Colorado with my then husband in December 1980. Fast forward through divorce, raising kids/working – yada yada yada – I found myself getting older and wanting to be able to retire at some point. I was preparing for van life when I inherited money that opened up other options. Staying in Colorado was not one of those options, either renting or owning, giving the speed with which housing costs were rising. I moved to the Midwest and bought a modest condo.

  42. LoveHonorRespect on May 8, 2022 at 9:20 pm

I bought 2.5 acers in Brooksville Florida and county refused to permit a tiny home they say it brings down the value of large homes. So basically the hell with the people that are struggling living in their cars. I even explain our living cituation that the housing market priced us out , they could care less. . Now the land is up for sale and we continue to live in our car.

  43. M S on May 8, 2022 at 9:24 pm

Colorado is a shit place to live..In California the police harass the homeless all the time..In vans or otherwise.. Welcome to the real world..

  44. Doris Faust on May 8, 2022 at 9:25 pm

No. Living in a van and having a regular job. It extremely difficult. Uncomfortable. Hot..cold. harassed by police at midnight..I had seasonal housing in Aspen. Van lived for 4 months in the summer for 8 YEARS! NOBODY WHO IS WORKING POOR SHOULD BE FORCED TO LIVE IN ANY KIND OF VEHICLE. IT SUCKS..

  46. DifferentialTim on May 8, 2022 at 9:27 pm

Simple maths. Rents go up with insane housing so just wait for the crash and like 2008, they will all be trying to sell and everything will plummet and nothing can stop that from happening unless every worker works for Google? No!, well there you are… PATIENCE..

  47. Kenneth W on May 8, 2022 at 9:27 pm

I did this back in 2001 when it was highly illegal even in liberal California. One thing I learned regarding finding a sleeping spot at night in a residential area, always go where there are other cars and just park. When you arrive, stay dark, get to bed and when you get up in the morning, get out. And don’t stay in the same spot twice. I never had any problems. No knocks at the door by the cops. I learned that people walking down the street are busy enough with their own concerns and are not looking in the window of every car they go by. And this was 20 years ago before iPhones! It was a lot of fun, but it also had its challenges. It looks like it’s gotten a lot easier with technology and the whole van life movement.

Minimum wage was $24 in the late 1960s adjusted for inflation. Politicians decide if wages should be raised.
