The mini human recently requested a blanket ladder for her new room and I could not say no! The girl has got good taste and I am not going to disappoint when making over her bedroom. I know this is a short video but I wanted to show you how making something “big” is not as intimidating as it seems. This is SUCH an easy DIY for any level of DIY’er that is looking to pick up a power tool. All you need is a drill, a drill bit and some wood glue!

What is the width of the larger/longer dowel?
Love love the video and your consistent creativity!! Irrelevant question- what do you personally use and suggest to remove nails from walls and to patch the holes they leave? I’m cleaning up after my landlord’s prior tenant and doing it for my sanity. 🤣
Love your diys Rachel! Could you make a few without power tools? 🙂
I love this simple diy!! TFS!! ❤💖
…ok be right back I’m heading to the store to get the supplies!❤
Thank you!! I’m a super newbie with only a power drill right now so this seems super doable. Any advice for securing this to the wall and/or making sure the bottom won’t slip on a tile floor? (Better safe than sorry as I have two cats who can get too curious and rowdy while chasing each other around).
The best bit to use for no tear out is a forstner bit. Start it slow and in reverse until it scores the wood, then drill in forward. makes a perfect cut. No putty needed.
Simple look but I love it
Your DIYs really inspires me. Can i just know the measurement for the long dowels (in mm) ? Thanks 😁
AWWWWWWW BEAUTYFULL……SUPER BOHO VIBES!!!!!!!!!!
Just wondering are the large dowel pieces you used 2 inches thick?
Here’s the tutorial 4 a display towel ladder. Uve did 1 w/ a wood storage ladder. How bout a tutorial on a bkshelf ladder. 😍ur work.👌
Super cute!!!!!
Heat gun is great for removing stickers.
the mini human should be thrilled with this blanket ladder!!
good job!!
God bless
You have a very annoying voice.
I was literally at JoAnn eyeing a $70 blanket ladder today. And thinking about how I could make it. So perfect timing?
Yessss I love this!!!!
I’m going to try this but I think I’ll use wood sides instead of dowels. Maybe 2×2 if it comes long enough. Paint it matte black too. Thanks for the inspiration.
Question for the DIY Queen: I already have a chop saw, but want to expand my power tool collection for simple projects. Should I get a jigsaw or a circular saw next? Or something else entirely?
I don’t have the wood drill tip to open the pocket on the dowels. Can you just use screws and glue?
For your next simple diy can you make modern wooden waste bins? Would love to see how you do that and that’s what I plan to make for my next project as I’m moving into a new apartment soon ☺️☺️ love you!!
Super cute! I would recommend drilling a pilot hole with a small drill bit to help keep you more on “center”
Also some tape on the dowels before you drilled would have cut down on the tear out. Totally making one for my patio! Thanks for sharing, would love too see what color this turns out to be!
Love this idea , so cute ! ❤
Thanks, thanks, thanks for doing this video. 💥🎉👍It’s just what I was looking for—a Blanket Ladder using dowels👍👍👍
I did this same thing, but instead I used the wood closet rods from Lowe’s, they come in longer lengths and don’t cost a lot!! I prefer the round look, nice job!
I really, really love you, and what you create so I hope you take my comments as just suggestions and not at all as criticisms. XO I am not much a fan of voiceover videos. I’d love to be able to watch you build and create as you are doing it. There is something so wonderful about watching that part of the journey in creating something. I’d also love to see a thumbnail of the finished DIY at the beginning of the videos so I had a better sense of where you are going. It doesn’t so much apply to this video since the ladder is pretty self-explanatory. But, for example, with the clothing rack you just did, I was having a hard time understanding what you were doing with the legs until you were finished. Thanks so much!!

Rachel,
I have to say THANK YOU for this inspiration! I did my own bedroom makeover on my channel and recreated this ladder!! I appreciate you giving me inspiration! You are so hardworking!!
another great video..i mailed on instagram with something i made 😀
THIS IS AWESOME 🖤 These ladders are so expensive to purchase. I’m binge watching your projects. Goals: To get to collab with you one day.
Love this and am making one!
I like the idea of using dowels for rungs and drilling the sides for them versus having screws running all the way up the ladder. If you get rid of those paddle bits and use a forstner bit instead the holes will turn out perfectly with zero tearout. Paddle bits are horrible for tearout unless you’re drilling something without grain like MDF. Forstner bits are awesome, they’re totally worth it
Love it!!! So simple and cute and I feel like everyone needs this. Who doesn’t have like 18 blankets at all times 😂❤
Yes!!
Nice one. Simple and effective idea. (But that spade bit looked right out of a horror movie!_)
Apart from this, I have a question. I went to the lumber yard and asked for 2 inches by 1 inch wood of 8 feet in length. The pieces they gave me was bent. When I asked them about it, they said it was too thin, for its length, to be straight. Is that so? or have I been duped?
question 2, is there any way it can be straightened.?
Love it, and I’m stoked I got to see it in person! It looks killer!….Dude! You killed it with this…. We need a blanket ladder in our living room, You’ve INSPIRED me yet again to make it myself rather than buy one. Thanks lady for always keeping it REAL!
TIp: the trick to get off any label, stickers, etc. is to take a blowdryer and heat the sticker up for a couple of seconds. They just peel right off and usually no residue.=)
You should build a tiny house
I just want to let You know that you, have inspired me so much! I just joined your channel about 3 weeks ago & now I’m redoing my restroom all by myself thanks to you. Keep making videos I Love them ALL!!! ❤❤❤
Always love your tutorials!!
Yo, Yo, Yo Cuz!!! Have no fear Mike G is here!! So sorry for delay Cuz!! Rachel you are number one Creator Gangsta!! I would of blown through those dowels without out even tryin. Mad Respect for seeing this through Cuz!! Vey well done!! Until da next one, Dirty Jersey out!!! Now, I’m gonna go watch the video I missed!!!

Love that you always keep it real!
Awesome diy doll 💪👍🍷💋
Fantastic! We love all your projects or we wouldn’t be here!you are so talented! Thank you for making me feel much more comfortable with power tools!
Love it! Would it hold small quilts? Great replacement for an outdated quilt rack.
Rachel Metz ftw!! ❤❤
Great job and simple like it a lot
Hey Rachel, maybe next time you can try to put a cloth tape on the wood especially the dowel like that before you drill bit to avoid the wood to break. Perhaps to get a cleaner results. Just an opinion. Great work anyway. 😉
