Let’s stiff the agents then complain when they shut us out. Market rate is market rate. Sorry you line in Canada.

  2. Lpoint Mpoint on June 6, 2022 at 10:43 pm

This is total nonsense. The buying agent has the value – the potential buyer.

  3. Jose Rodriguez on June 6, 2022 at 10:43 pm

Any homeowner can absolutely sell their own home! However, the case with many For Sale By Owners is that they will often sit on the market longer than an agent listing and will often sell below ask price like the woman in this video. She saved money on the commission but a good agent would have been able to get above asking on the property and would have offset most if not all of the commission pay. All while doing it at a fraction of the time.

    Sounds like organized crime.

Love that pieces like this will tout the amazing benefits of another system but none of their negatives.

Every house I have ever sold, I sold myself. This is my advice:
    1. Find a real estate attorney to help you construct a contract that will benefit both you and potential buyers.
    2. Write your ‘for sale by owner’ ad and list it in your local newspaper, with an ‘appointment only’ notation. This is where potential buyers look first.
    3. Do your one on one negotiating with potential buyers, and adjust your contract to suit both you and your buyer. Your attorney can help with this. You and the buyer will both be happier in the end.
    4. Your attorney will handle the legal end such as title search, lender options, closing date, etc.
    5. On closing day everyone can meet to close the deal in your attorney’s office with all of the paper work ready to go, including your check. What you will pay your attorney will be thousands of dollars than what you will pay a realtor.
    6. Give the new buyer the keys and a hand shake, and go your separate ways, with no self-serving realtors to deal with. Hopefully, you have already moved out.
If you are planning to sell your house try this for a couple of months. If you decide that this is not for you, you can always call a realtor and collect a lot less profit at closing.

Who wants to work for low/no pay Whether selling a house or working for someone What job would you take $1/hr. or $5/hr? You get what you pay for.

  11. SolidSonicTH on June 6, 2022 at 10:52 pm

Once the buck has been passed in a loop you’ve lost. No one wants to own up to it because they like things the way they are.

  12. Mr MACC on June 6, 2022 at 10:54 pm

This is such an outdated broken system surely in this day and age we can have a better way of selling our houses?

  17. SK on June 6, 2022 at 10:59 pm

Most realtors in most cities are unethical like this — if any realtor is surprised, you don’t know what your colleagues are like when you’re not around

  18. All About Roofing on June 6, 2022 at 11:00 pm

    That’s a 1.5 million dollar home? 😳

  19. Carleton Rutherford on June 6, 2022 at 11:00 pm

If the commission was 5% back when homes were selling for $250,000, the commission would have been $12,500. Why the hell is the commission still 5% when homes are selling for $1,000,000 and more? They are doing the exact same job, EXACTLY, but getting $50,000 for it? And they won’t budge? Vultures.

  22. lucy cai on June 6, 2022 at 11:04 pm

CAR should check each brocker’s income for tax issues

  23. Rob J on June 6, 2022 at 11:04 pm

This is interesting, because when I bought my house (I’m in the US) my realtor showed me many houses, but the one we ended up buying I found myself online and it was 50k less than all the other houses we saw.

  24. elioraimmanuel on June 6, 2022 at 11:04 pm

The commission here in Ohio is up to 5.90% for the seller. We as the buyer paid less than $1,000.

  25. takl sux on June 6, 2022 at 11:05 pm

take away license, fine and charged as per law

  26. F V on June 6, 2022 at 11:06 pm

People easily forget that realtors don’t take the entire commission offered. The seller used in this video offering a $14K commission never once mentioned how brokerages can take up to 50% of the realtors commission, not to mention other misc fees and taxes also due. I wouldn’t be shocked if an agent took home around $5K at the end of the day.

    dirty world with greedy brockers

  29. Linda C on June 6, 2022 at 11:07 pm

When I sold homes – any agent that was doing any kind of business at all, was too busy selling to compare the commissions. The only agents who showed homes according to fee, were the ones who didn’t have much business.

  30. Brad on June 6, 2022 at 11:07 pm

This disgusting. I’m Real Estate Professional. There are a few bad apples in my career. I work hard everyday to demonstrate that I’m honest and ethical.

What if these reporters were told they would get paid 60% less money to cover this story or get paid 250% more to cover another story. Which one would they choose? im not a realtor but im just saying….

  33. David Simons on June 6, 2022 at 11:13 pm

got to drop the %age selling fee and agree a fixed price…. 5% was probably a reasonable amount before the prices of houses went through the roof and a 300k home became a 1million+ home, the amount of work involved never tripled…. . now its basically price fixing and ripping off the clients..

  34. Lucas on June 6, 2022 at 11:15 pm

That remark about the investigation not being about individuals and because of it not showing their faces was ridiculous. The very first agent actually wanted to show the house, his identity should be known. To be honest, even the other two agents, people should know who they are.

  35. Gibson Review on June 6, 2022 at 11:15 pm

Some real estate agents are not trustworthy. Even brokers are licensed sales people. Find one you can trust and stay with them.

  36. Whitney Holcomb on June 6, 2022 at 11:16 pm

As a Texas Realtor this is disgusting! I am currently under contract with my buyers on a FSBO….because I want to do what is best for my clients. This is sad.

  37. energem on June 6, 2022 at 11:18 pm

It’s easy here in Auckland NZ, private sellers list it on an auction website (everyone uses the same site) with a reserve price, show vetted buyers through by appointment and when it sells the lawyers exchange agreements and handle settlement. No agent’s commission anywhere. You can still use an agent if you want to fork out 2.5 to 4.0% commission.

  38. Jean Paul Jean Paul on June 6, 2022 at 11:18 pm

I’m not paying someone to buy my house, this is a ridiculous process. Do I get paid if I buy a new car.

  39. heart lover on June 6, 2022 at 11:22 pm

I guess you gotta be watching your back yourself, no law will back you up, thats it thats all, and business doesnt come with honesty

  40. Lpoint Mpoint on June 6, 2022 at 11:23 pm

Why would an agent sell a low commission home when they could sell a high commission home? This ‘expose’ is predicated on economic ignorance.

  41. Joe Hutton on June 6, 2022 at 11:23 pm

As someone who has family and friends who are real-estate agents.. and i will tell you first hand, they are parasites.. same with litigation lawyers, when you have a profession that makes their money on the BACKS of someone else doing business they are by definition parasitic..

  43. S K on June 6, 2022 at 11:26 pm

I am so glad that the lady was able to sell her house without the agents.

  44. Liberty TV on June 6, 2022 at 11:30 pm

This is exactly how it is in the United States as well. Average Realtor is not looking out for best interests of their client both on the buying and selling side so pathetic when they are making 3% on each side of deal.

  45. Ronnie on June 6, 2022 at 11:31 pm

    I mean I don’t blame them.

I turn down jobs all the time because they don’t pay what I am willing to take. If I was a realtor and one house pays 5% and the other 1% I’m gonna to work for the 5% one.

  46. Bad Jokes on June 6, 2022 at 11:32 pm

So many small pieces that culminate to one massive housing crisis affecting more and more people. But I’m sure we’ll just continue seeing these agencies try to pass the buck

  47. Max It Up with Marta on June 6, 2022 at 11:34 pm

This is awful but also, it appears that the house was overpriced.

  49. 100lbs2changemylife on June 6, 2022 at 11:36 pm

My last realtor told me if I wanted to buy a home at 1% id have to pay his commission up to the "standard" rate of 3.5%.

  50. Jenny Hammond on June 6, 2022 at 11:36 pm

My friend is an agent in the USA. He told me that the same is true; if a seller tries to negotiate the commission down, agents (not him) aren’t going to be rushing to show their clients your house.
