In this project, we are working with a popular Mediterranean restaurant located in the Potrero Hill of San Francisco. Keeping all the existing furniture and wall arts, we completely transformed the space with a few designer tricks. Here is how we did it:
First, we switched the existing chandeliers to two larger ones to help anchor the space. The antique wooden chandeliers we found are unique and rustic, which instantly add character and personality to the restaurant.
Next, we added 3 faux beams to the ceiling. The beams are made of high density polyurethane, which are light in weight, easy to install and much less expensive than real wood beams.
After that, we painted the ceiling a deep olive color which automatically defines the height by drawing your eyes up.
In order to dress-up the walls, we’re adding 3 layers of materials around the existing artworks. First is the Turkish pattern wallpaper. Then, a nice olive color border is painted on the wall surface. Lastly the artwork is finished with a rich wood trim. Now the arts look bolder, and more substantial on the walls.
We also painted stripe patterns on the north and east walls to make the existing artworks pop.
Same pattern wall paper is installed on the arches for harmony and balance.
Lastly, we switched out the existing blue carpet with a warm tone of a commercial grade laminate.
Without much effort, this popular restaurant can become even more popular with an updated look.
