Riding Solo – 6,000 Mile Motorcycle Adventure in the USA Backcountry – Camping, Cooking, Relaxing
Riding Solo is a video series about motorcycling alone in the USA backcountry – riding, camping, cooking, relaxing in beautiful, scenic locations. The videos were filmed during a 6,000 mile/30-day solo ride in the summer of 2020 in locations including Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico. Thanks a lot for your fantastic inspiring videos! π I am a GS 1200 rider in Norway and must say this looks awesome. Have an equipment question; the Touratech panniers, which size do you have? Maybe the 31/38?
Nice to have a drone that follows you
I really love your productions, Sterling. Thank you for sharing!
Officer Rob sent me over. We are from San Diego now living in Central Oregon
This is an aspirational and inspirational video for me. Thank you. The cinematography in this teaser is incredible!
love it
Love the series brother! There are some amazing shots that get me excited about pushing work aside next summer and getting out there on the GS to explore. I might need to get a dji. π I posted your video on our GS Owners fb group which has 20k members. I’m sure they will enjoy it as much as I did. Thank you! -cheers- ride safe.
you got me hooked going to binge watch when i have time.
I’ve been watching your videos for some time now and they are by far the best in the business. I don’t understand why you don’t have more views. I need to change that, sharing your videos and your channel on my FB page. It’s the minimum I could do. I also just picked up a 98 Honda VFR800FI and this spring a 2012 Suzuki DR650. I love to ride!
Ooowwwww.. That’s exactly what I try to get inspired to make my own journey. I am from Brazil and I intend to do a motorcycle expedition from Rio de Janeiro to Alaska, covering all of South, Central and North America.
I think this playlist will give me a lot of ideas on how to enjoy it when I’m riding through California, Arizona, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico … let’s see how crazy and cool you are, my friend.
My best regards.
Looking forward to experiencing your adventure
Like always…awesome video…again! π
1. why didn’t your girlfriend join you during the home stretch, as you’d mentioned in the video ?
2. was your drone eventually fixed, and what was the problem?
I love camping, but i live in India now and it is very tricky here. Just week ago had stealth camping.
Bring it on!
Absolutely stunning – right here in America!!!

Kindly post a map of the trip.
Inspirational… once the Covid restrictions are over, I know exactly what I’m going to do. Thanks Sterling.
excelente , vou devorar os episΓ³dios … see my channel, great hug
This is a great inspiration for me as l can’t travel back to Europe as l usually do due to covid restrictions ( & l will NOT have the jab no matter what!) so l love roads like you travelled on in your taster, but l’m afraid l’m a cabin or motel type of solo rider so l need to pre plan & adapt to your routes…….Can l get maps from you??

This sort of thing is so much better than TV.
Wow Sterling ! I just started watching today. I love your backcountry trip so far. I’m glad I ran into your videos. You have a special way of conveying the adventures of you trip. Thanks for sharing. I will keep watching your adventures.
Hello from UK, this is my 1st ever YT comment, I guess I’ve never been sufficiently motivated before BUT I’ve just finished watching your Riding Solo series and it’s the best I’ve seen bar none. Brilliant in its simlicity, focuses on the priorities of the bike, camping, the scenary and the route, for people like me who love the idea but are scared of actually doing it, we can be there with you which is something, thank you very much, just wanting to know what’s next π ?
Just found you via The Overland Journal podcast, talking about this project.
I love solo travel film making, so this really inspires me. I can wait to watch the series, both for the adventure and perhaps learn some techniques. Cinematography and story telling.
Thanks for making this content.
One Life, One Search,

All talking–where is the riding???
Please come to Indonesia.
Flores, Kelimutu, Raja Ampat is beautiful place for camping β₯οΈ
Great video man
Looking forward to binge watching your series. Your Motel just went on my bucket list too!
These shots are incredible, they take my breath away.
Big Rock Moto reccomended another gem haha β₯οΈ
Very inspiring kick in the ass for me…I recently bought a Goldwing and looking forward to taking a solo road trip to Portland,OR from southern New Mexico (24 hrs) to visit my kids/grandkids as well as getting lots of footage along the way with cameras and a Mavic Air 2…so thanks!
This is going to be interesting… even if I’m a little late. In 1974 I rode for 3 months cross country on my ’72 CB750 from San Diego to the NW, Central USA, to NE and part of the south… and back to SD by myself.
I covered a little less than 28k miles mostly on road but almost no freeway. No drone, no GoPro, no iPhone,…. mostly had to build a fire to heat food and had an old type tent. Had to tune
my bike when it needed it…. when was the last time anyone had to adjust a set of points??? LOL.
Now I look back and wish I could do it again now. I’ll enjoy watching your experiences.
What helmet is that?
BAM!
Hello, I liked your last video of the desert, the devil’s route or something like that. That beautiful landscapes protect me a lot when you do camping. I hope some chapter where you give maintenance to the bike would be good I always follow you … nl do you have instagran how do you get out?
I’m now watching the whole series and I’m loving it. It’s exactly how I expect adventure bike videos to be… simple, crisp, informative and lots and lots of nature to admire! Thanks for the effort in completing your project.
I like it. How did you filming drone while you’re riding?
Great to hear
This is gonna be epic π€πΌπ€πΌ
Watching the Solo Ride videos… really inspired me to do one of my own. Much shorter, but I wanted to attemp to tell a story such that Sterling does. Not nearly as professional and polished, but for my first Solo Trip I am pretty happy with the results. Next year Canada’s Ice Field Parkway
Amazing footage!!!!!! π
Respect for the work and skill behind these films ππ» bravo Sterling πͺ – If you ever come to Australia, look us up. Happy Life dude

Iβve just discovered your channel and subscribed right away after seeing episode 12 and this preview. Iβll watch all the others during Christmas Holiday. Like you say, scenery and drone footage are awesome! Big thumbs up and thank you for sharing these excellent videos!
I’m sad that I’m *now* just discovering this channel but happy that I now have a ton of good stuff to watch! π
This is amazing! Is there a website that shows the route you filmed?
I watched up to episode 18, is there more ? was return trip to home documented?
Watching it , great viewing and inspiring entertainment, love it, top class. Paul from Ireland
