RV Camping at Alpen Rose RV Park in Durango, Colorado
Hey folks, here’s a video review from Durango, Colorado. Aplen Rose RV park is on US Hwy-550 just a few minutes north of Durango Colorado and 45 minutes east of Cortez, Colorado. Its far enough away from the hwy to enjoy quiet time and close enough to town for adventuring. This is another wonderful RV Park and campground. Just like most of the RV campgrounds we stayed in for our vacation this one has been added to our favorites list.
In the video I said all of the sites have a grill, I was wrong, they might have grills on some of the sites but I didn’t see them. I was thinking about the other places we’ve been in those two weeks. But, this RV park is very nice and you will love to stay here for a few days of exploring or just relaxing. There are so many things to do in the area like hiking, horseback riding, train rides, rafting, sight seeing and you can spend some time at Mesa Verde National Park. See our links below for more information. Angel and I parked the Retro RV and went for a beautiful (scary) scenic drive along the Million Dollar Hwy which took us through the towns or Silverton, Ouray and Ridgeway. We even drove over to the ski town of Telluride, Colorado. I wish we would have made this a three night stay however we did a lot in the short time we were here.

I’ll preface this by saying that I typically boondock out in the national forest, but one can only go so long before needing a proper shower, laundry, dump tanks, refill water, charge batteries, resupply, etc. I stayed at Alpen Rose at the beginning of Sept. 2021. It’s a well kept park and nice facilities. Although it is typical of most rv parks/resorts in that the sites are fairly cramp, which is one reason I prefer to boondock. You won’t find much privacy unless you go inside your camper and run the A/C. Otherwise, the laundry facilities are clean…$2.00 per load to wash and another $2.00 to dry. The washers are sort of small and it required me to run 3 loads. However, the dryers are large enough that I got all 3 wash loads in one dryer. The showers are clean and spacious. My biggest complaint was how small my site was. I was literally only 24 inches or less from the rig next door. We could look out our windows and watch each other inside our respective rigs.
