Is London vanlife possible? This video we head to London in our campervan to find out if we can stealth camp there without getting fined. London has both a low emissions zone and an ultra-low emissions zone so we use the help of our friend Chelsea (Cheap Holiday Expert) to avoid them and sleep in the most expensive city in the UK.

Van users alert !!! New Trespass Laws in England and Wales have been passed which will have serious impact on camping van holiday makers. Originally intended to deal with gypsies has now been broadened to include everyone with a van used for short holidays.

Even overnight stays in lay-bys in the Derby Peak District can get you 3 months prison and your van seized. Welcome to Nazi Britannia.

Very much enjoying your videos. Midway through converting my Sprinter van so exciting to look forward to a Scottish tour. Your van would certainly benefit from installing an extractor roof vent. I have one and it keeps fresh air circulating. Keep enjoying life as you are. Peace, love & joy 🕊

Apply shaving foam to the inside of the glass with a microfibre cloth….no fog/condensation

Could you (or anyone reading this) provide a link or more details on the plastic stuff you used on the windows, because it looks like just what I am looking for. Thanks.

I’ve unfortunately been stealth camping in London, for the last 5 years during weekdays. I use a Unibond 360 moisture remover, which lasts for around a month or 2. I use doubled up black bin liners as curtains, A double folded blanket to separate front seats from the back. I don’t really eat after 2pm so that I don’t get caught short at night. Never have been. I shower each morning at one of the branches of TheGym. I have weather deflectors for all the windows. Almost all my gear in the back is black. Every time I sleep, I have to roll over from the front seat to the rear, having checked 3 directions. Same in the morning when I awake, but roll over onto the front seats instead, after checking and listening. Always pull the central locking fuse out. Sometimes have foxes walking over my vehicle at night. Sometimes squirrels dancing on the roof. Only once did a chancer try the door handle. Only woken a few times when people have sat on the bonnet.

Cool put wind defectors on side of doors open windows a tiny bit . And problem should be history

    You’ve got a new subscriber here 😊

Stealth camping is something I’m seriously thinking of doing.

Talking to others who have Campervans, wind deflectors are good to beat condensation. You can then crack the window open a bit and and still be protected from the rain and no one will know it’s open.

Its tragic when people have to hide to live cheaply. Its a sign of a total lack of freedom in a country.

I used to have a sandwich and my windows were always streaming up. I used a little fairy washing up on a cloth and that worked great 👍

Get a can of aerosol shave cream. Smear it on the glass. Let it dry thoroughly then polish off with a cloth. Works on bathroom mirrors and such. Also just barely crack a window open, not enough that you can tell from outside.

  16. SP on January 14, 2023 at 4:30 am

Dehumidifier is a really good call – you can even buy those throw away boxes just to try out – so much moisture collects inside when you’re living & cooking & will quickly lead to mould and mustiness – not good for your health or general enjoyment of vanlife!!!

Excellent guys. You are an inspiration to us all. Thank you from Oslo. Cheers!

  18. John on January 14, 2023 at 4:33 am

I’ve never done this but I imagine you could get around some of the curtain twitching whilst filming by putting a "for sale" on the windscreen for a bit. People hopefully assume you’re just taking some for shots for an auto magazine or something 😁

  19. redfog42 on January 14, 2023 at 4:33 am

Camping outside someone’s house is a bit rude if you haven’t got permission to be there. I realise you are "stealth" camping but you can do that in non residential areas.

  20. Jitty Six on January 14, 2023 at 4:33 am

    open the windows

  21. QWERTYneworder on January 14, 2023 at 4:33 am

I’m not sure if your still dealing with compensation on the windows but use a tissue and spread a thin layer on shaving foam on the inside pain off glass

I have some various made up magnetic signs from TRUPRINT. So one day you can be a plumber/ sky engineer/ builder etc AND A NO TOOLS LEFT IN VAN sticker. Leave a few papers empty coke bottle etc in cab and a copy of the Sun and you are BOB THE BUILDER! I do have a sign that guarantees NO CALLERS – UNDERTAKER…….. works great. The black sheet behind the cab is fines as it just looks like the bulkhead!! Only difference is I have a HIGH ROOF T5 and a roof vent I leave open OR you get steamy windows which = PASSION or PEOPLE KIPPING!!! GOOD LUCK🙂

Just a tip, I don’t know how relevant this will be on another trip, but that plastic doesn’t stay in when temps drop below -3C… We used it in our windows in Norway and found this fell off sub zero

This anti fog product doesn’t work

  34. Zach Frizell on January 14, 2023 at 4:51 am

Best way to stop a foggy windscreen and windows is to buy some wind deflectors for your Windows. This way you can leave the windows open very slightly which is just enough to stop any fog 😎

  35. Modiule Lawson on January 14, 2023 at 4:52 am

I used shaving cream on the windows and windscreen it was awesome against condensation, You wipe it on white, and wipe it off and no condensation overnight.

  36. SnortTroll on January 14, 2023 at 4:53 am

doubel glased windshield with heating wires in it.

  37. Leese Emme on January 14, 2023 at 4:53 am

If you get rain guards for the windows you can leave them open a crack even if it rains or snows and you won’t get the fogged up Windows cuz they’ll be air coming in.

  38. Richard Naylor on January 14, 2023 at 4:55 am

For condensation, I recommend a solar power, ceiling fan , zero condensation, Plus a window deflectors and open the window, a tiny bit on each side for airflow

  40. Bob Quickenden on January 14, 2023 at 4:56 am

Cheap condensation solution… Washing up liquid. Don’t mix with water. Just a small amount on a cloth. polish the inside of the window until not smeary, and vision is good. Don’t touch the inside of the window with your bare hands, as this leaves smeary prints, but otherwise works well. good for about three days camping & easily re-done (also good for stopping glasses from misting up whilst wearing face mask).
I’m ging to state the obvious, but be careful when meeting up with friends for a drink. Driver should avoid alcohol. If you DO get rumbled by the police and have to move on, the slightest whiff of booze will ensure a ‘drunk in charge of a motor vehicle’ problem and associated hassles – even if you’re below the limit.

  41. Susannah Holliday on January 14, 2023 at 4:56 am

Portland Dorest is an amazing place. Not just the Bill but coves like Church Ope and a walk through the pirates graveyard on the way. I know some free places to park the van. Send me a message as I don’t want to get too busy. Great vid guys.

You don’t know how your experience represents mine. I didn’t know this concept of "stealth camping" and to be fair I have just discovered that had a name today. I lived for 2 months in Dublin this way. The difference is: we had a Pegeot 307. And we were doing the same things you guys were doing to mask it. We’ve got caught some times, though. The black thing idea was amazing. And you won’t believe we’re going to London and we’re gonna do stealth camping as well, so your video is very encouraging. Idk if a Pegeot 2006 is under the same rules. The other thing we can’t handle very well is the fog. But that’s isn’t the worst problem. The black windows I hope will give is some privacy.

  44. Peter Strafer on January 14, 2023 at 4:58 am

You havent stealth camped in London until you do it in South London!

  45. Dave Bayliss on January 14, 2023 at 4:58 am

    It’s not fog it’s c02, dangerous AF …. Ventilation

  46. Graeme Ferguson on January 14, 2023 at 4:58 am

Just be careful if you’ve had a drink. There’s an offence of being drunk (over the drink drive limit) whilst in charge of a motor vehicle. If some do gooder reports you you’d need to prove that you had no likely hood of driving (having control of the speed and direction of the vehicle). So the steering wheel lock being on and maybe locking the keys away or disabling the van somehow might suffice. Just be careful. Good video though.
