I decided to do away with the hotspot and move on to Nomad Internet which is a highly sought after internet solution in the vanlife and off-grid community. In this video, I document the process of setting it up, dealing with customer service, testing the internet speeds and even GAMING off of it.

You should try starlink. They just added portability for an extra $30 a month on top of your bill, and you don’t need cell service to use it, all you need is an active satellite above you and there is thousands. It is also not data capped. AT ALL. Your speeds would probably be much better too. I have it and I get anywhere from 50 all the way up to 300mbps download speed and 12-25mbps upload speed. Ping is usually pretty low aswell around 50-60ms. Depending on where you are it might even be lower. I would highly recommend it especially for someone like you who wants to game and be mobile. All you would have to do it put the dish on your vans roof and make sure there was no obstructions above you.

Hey man what is your latency like on this?

  3. Matt Cody on October 20, 2022 at 7:14 am

  8. Elder Storm on October 20, 2022 at 7:18 am

Starlink goes by your address, so it wouldn’t be a great fit for traveling.

  9. Brian Davis on October 20, 2022 at 7:19 am

Did Nomad stay reliable for you or did you switch to another provider? Asking because I have basically lost my ability to game because internet is so shit with either my home internet or phone hotspot.

  27. Brett Hinkle on October 20, 2022 at 7:34 am

what’s your latency playing games though? in world of warcraft for example you can see your latency by hovering the menu icon on bottom right hand corner of ui. could be like 100ms, 50ms, etc. playing 110ms after getting used to 30ms has be about to rip my hair out. it doesn’t register the actions I take for so long. makes it a lot harder to pvp but even pve it’s really annoying. I travel for work. hotel wifi sucks if they have no wired internet connection option and my phone’s high speed Verizon hotspot might show like 80mbps but still I have 110 ms ping

  28. ITCHYisVegeta on October 20, 2022 at 7:36 am

Are you still using this service? Honestly the 16ms ping has me more impressed than anything. Do you still get that ping no matter where you go, or is it dependent?

After looking into this service, does Nomad access different carrier towers depending on what is close, or depending on what sim card they sent you?

  29. bigvalyeti on October 20, 2022 at 7:37 am

You’re nuts. The point to go out in the wild is to not play video games. Get a real life

  30. Jake Elkins on October 20, 2022 at 7:39 am

Now that you also have starlink, which would you recommend for everyday use?

  31. david bryant on October 20, 2022 at 7:40 am

How is this internet holding out? I just watched another video talking about this being complete garbage

  32. Reptile Nature on October 20, 2022 at 7:44 am

So which internet service are you using specifically? And you are using a gten model 4 R3 modem?

  33. Simon Robeyns on October 20, 2022 at 7:47 am

so.. it didn’t work. then u got a new one but where’s the location? sad you couldn’t do it at the same location to show us the mountain view 😢
is it stable? I imagine for the phone reception u need to be in a good place either way and not in the mountains right

  34. Jonathan Bailey on October 20, 2022 at 7:48 am

I was just offered a new position with the Seed Team… I was hoping that my nomad life didn’t need to return back to the tethered brick and mortar…. I hope this is the solution…. And hats off to the person below who suggested outside magnet mount cell booster 💪….. Keep The Wheels Spinning 🙌

  35. Jake Zarley on October 20, 2022 at 7:49 am

they could give two sheets about their customers they will just jerk you around for weeks and do everything to keep your money even thought they have refund policy. horrible company.

  36. sky (spare account) on October 20, 2022 at 7:50 am

    what router are you using?

  37. JuGGerJuGGs on October 20, 2022 at 7:51 am

Are those barefoot shoes? If yes, please tell me where to buy them!

  38. RedJupiter223 on October 20, 2022 at 7:52 am

We’ve been using a Verizon hotspot and it’s agonizing, it’s way below what we need for streaming, gaming, uploading and downloading. Hopefully this will be the solution!! The hotspot we use allows 150gb then throttles it’s a fucking scam.

  39. Trevor Bowman on October 20, 2022 at 7:52 am

Which leads me to my next point… Don’t. Smoke. Crack.

  40. Cosmic on October 20, 2022 at 7:52 am

This mfs have a better internet than most people in my country and not to mention his internet is an off grid and nomad

  41. JoshDoesMusic on October 20, 2022 at 7:53 am

Just my own experience: Nomad has no direct social media or marketing. Virtually no customer support. They’re a third party vendor using the different cell networks… so they’re only using portions of the networks and lower priority. Their business model borders on MLM. They offer free internet to anyone who refers 5 customers… thus why all these youtubers are promoting it. The one thing that makes no sense is why their lower tier and higher tier are the same price ($150). I compared their Anywhere router on Verizon network with a Jetpack hotspot directly from verizon. Nomad customer support (chat) had no idea about their download speeds or the benefits of their products/service. The top verizon jetpack 150Gb plan is like $90/month vs nomad’s $150. I’m open to being persuaded but they weren’t even knowledgeable about their own product or interested in trying to sell it to me. So for now I see no clear benefit to Nomad. Even starlink is cheaper. Verizon’s customer support is terrible, but at least it exists.

  47. JSR-RADIO on October 20, 2022 at 8:00 am

Bro I love your energy. As a fellow youtuber I would love to connect 🙂 this video was amazing

  48. Jake Zarley on October 20, 2022 at 8:03 am

this is a horrible internet company. they jerked around with my time for nearly a month and never got my service going!! don’t waste your time

  49. Soggy Senpai on October 20, 2022 at 8:04 am

How does it compare to your hotspot speeds? And is it more consistent? Hotspot can be good for gaming but it gets so finicky.

  50. OGK on October 20, 2022 at 8:05 am

People don’t remember back in 2013 20mb internet speed was fucking super fast and top of the line.
