The Best of Both Worlds: Living in a Van in an RV Park Until You Retire
The Best of Both Worlds: Living in a Van in an RV Park Until You Retire
In Today’s video, we meet Rose who is a teacher in a Public School who is approaching retirement. She’s already certain she wants to be a nomad when she retires so she bought a van, put a hightop on it, and now lives in it full-time in an RV Park while waiting for that glorious day when she can drive away from the work-world and live the life of freedom on the Great American Open Road! Of course, for now, she must content herself with taking summer-long trips in the van, but that’s what keeps her sane waiting for the big day when she can retire! Many of us are in her position of knowing we want to go but are held back by something. I think this is an idea many of us can make use of while we are waiting–get the rig you want now and live in it in a RV Park–the best of both worlds!

Rose your van is lovely. I’d love to know where you bought your doona cover set. I love it. It would be perfect in my room. Thank you.
I love sleeping at truck stops. I feel safer there than a lot of other places.
Thank you Bob for another great video. Iβve been following you for over a year and donβt know how I missed this one. Iβm a retired woman. Iβve been looking at Chevys and because if Rose I know thatβs what I want now. Is it possible to connect with her? Iβd like more info and some tutoring and more info on the forum. Thanks again.
Great set up. Nice lady. Love the bike riding ability. I cannot ride a regular bike anymore. Great idea.

Rose, I’m very impressed with your Van! At 1st I wasn’t at all but as I watched you show your things, I started paying attention. I think I’m going to do a class B but you really have some really cool stuff! I’ve never went into an ikea store although there is one in the city. I’m gonna go check it out! Best to you
Congratulation….. good video
Love her van! IKEA is a great place to shop for van stuff.

I have a question how did you hang the side cabinets or shelf?
I have been thinking how
Tell Rose I have a dulcimer I haven’t played in years. If we even meet up we can give it a try. I have a music book. Thx for sharing π₯
What a sweetly. The name Rose suits her. Safe travels!
An RV park should have a community kitchen and bathrooms, and should just be part of the rent. That would be great! No cooking with propane, that’s probably dangerous.
Also, the RV park should build small lockers or small sheds for renting.
Sheβs delightful.
How fun she would be to travel with! I love all the vibrant colors and how much it speaks to who she is. Each video I watch gives me a new idea for my "great white whale" π
Heβs always encouraging when interviewing. Thatβs so sweet β₯οΈ
If you look into the SCA (www.sca.org) for your area, there are bound to be members who play the instrument and would be more than happy to teach you.
Ladies, always have some money put away for yourself that only you know about. In the event that your partner dies, leaves you and the children or abuses you – you have a plan B you can move into quickly and safely. In the event that you never need the emergency fund – you can always leave it as an inheritance for your kids or give it to charity. Women tend to live longer into their 80s as well so it might help you with medical bills as you age too. Good luck.
Beautiful van! Iβm glad she is showing people you can make it work in a regular van.
Thanks for the info I did not know there was a company that put on tops on a van I thought you had to do it yourself or purchase a new tall van.
Smart lady
Is there an update on Rose? Great video. Watching it in 2022.
Love it
Love the dulcimer. I play too. Such a sweet sounding instrument. She did a great job on her build.
